Long time lurker but figured nows the time to finally join up so i can share something awesome I found with you guys! I hope this is the right area, since its news but if its not, I apologize.

A blog I came across, Miniature Wargames Conversions is giving away a bunch of stuff. It looks like all you have to do to enter the drawing is subscribe to the blog by clicking the Follow button on the right there.

More specific info can be found here:
http://miniaturewargameconversions.blogspot.com/search/label/give%20away%20raffle

Just some of the many items up for the 15 winners:

2 Battleforce box sets for either 40k OR Warhammer. 1 Battleforce for 1 winner. The winners can pick ANY Battleforce they wish.

Sabol army case, details can be found here:

http://www.saboldesigns.net/armytransport.html

KR case, (still working the details on exactly which one or if the winner will have a choice since they offer cases for different games) Info can be found here:

http://www.krmulticase.com/mainint.html

8 Autographed BL books. Ill have the exact list of which ones as soon as they arrive as in the email I was told it would be a surprise "to die for". I will separate the 8 books into 4 groups allowing 4 separate winners. Each winner of the books will get 2.

1 Bjron the Fellhanded Dreadnought - A donation by a follower! Its for 1 Bjorn the Fell handed dreadnought. Its been opened and stripped but is a great model for any space wolf player or dreadnought lover.

Another follower, this time from 40kforums.com is offering:

Prince Tyrion, High Elf special character

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod790840

(Original starter kit for Khador, pre-plastic models)

https://store.privateerpress.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=8956

and he may even possibly donate a few more blisters. Ill keep everyone updated.

The final follower this month is offering up a nice treat. A brand new in box Imperial Guard Shadowsword/Stormlord Kit!

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440246a&prodId=prod1860243

And now, the best for last (in my humble opinion.)

1 Warhammer Fantasy Boxed army. Yup, an entire boxed army. The selection will be limited to whats on hand at the store and to a fantasy army but other then that, let your selection go wild! There is a SMALL chance it can be for a 40k army but I wont know that until a winner is picked.

He even updated the list to include a FW Ork Mega Dread too!

Glad I could share the info. I myself found it from another blog mentioning it.

Its very cool how many people are giving for it.

For various reasons, I would LOVE to hear from one of the 'winners' when they actually receive their stuff.

Thats sort of funny you mention the winners. I sent messages to a few of the winners that had public profiles and all but 2 replied back pretty fast today saying they had received the prizes.

1 of them happened to also be one of the people that then donated to the 2nd give away.

Seems legit to me.

I have that 'sounds too good to be true' voice, too, but I don't see how it could be a scam. There's nothing to be gained from being followed by me, except that his blog will have more followers (which to him is obviously worth something). It could be that there are no actual prizes, but then I lose nothing by following him.

So I say click it!

"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "feth" on their airplanes because it's obscene!" (Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now)

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions.

Any specific reason that you know of, or are you just advising general caution or do you want to know?

From reading the posts, he seems to be a guy that lost his wife and his soon shortly before that and has replied on friends and the community online and is trying a way to give back.

It is a very sad story. You can always do a google search on a blogger to get their profile information.

To be fair, all the problems with receiving things always seemed to stem from things he himself was supposed to send out. His Knight Paladin project was fine, as someone else was sending out the casts(mine came in faster than I thought it would). This seems to be him running the raffle for other people to be sending the winners things, so he's just the middleman.

When I contacted as many of the winners as I could, the ones that replied right away all said they got the prizes from him very fast.

Looking at the prizes he has now, most are from stores and the winner gets to pick the exact prize but there are a few that from what he says, it seems like hes shipping them out.

I was reluctant at first but after contacting the past winners, I dont see how this can be any scam. It just looks to me like hes doing it to give back. As he says, "pay it forward".

I think I am going to go ahead and put up an old unopened box of skeleton warriors for donation via the give away. Maybe not as neat as most of the other prizes but I think it will be a nice thing to do.

I know some of you might think its a risk but I think the deed itself out weighs it.

He still owes people, including me, quite a bit from his 'past life' as someone who took on paid commissions.

I find it VERY annoying that he is STILL unable to complete these past transactions but he IS able to conduct his 'Pay It Forward' campaign.

I would think it would be a perfect example of paying it forward if he could clear up what he owes to the people that previously were VERY supportive of Matt and who also already paid for commissions and are still waiting for them to be delivered.

After more than two years.

Thats sad to hear.

Still, have you read all of his posts about it and why hes doing it and specifically how? People offering to send stuff and then him not keeping it is the idea behind it from what ive read.

I cant speak for you, or him but if I had lost my husband and a child, I dont think id do anything at all, let alone try and give back to the community what people have offered.

You're clearly missing the point, and that's OK.

I sympathize with his situation, and all that he's been through.

But he's obviously able to function again, now, and yet he's still unable to ship out the stuff he's already been PAID for, and still owes?

And... that's OK?

Really?

No, it's not. Have you contacted him on his blog to see if there is any news? He is obviously looking at it, so it might be worth a go. I wondered at your warning about this chap. Hope you manage to get it sorted out ASAP.

I've contacted him.

I have an e-mail string stretching back 2 1/2 years over this.

The amount owed me is NOT insubstantial.

And no, my stuff has still not shipped as of today.

Seems rather poor behaviour. Has he been in touch with you recently, or is it all one sided? Have you thought about taking it further, into a more formal setting?

HA! Looks like a new angle from a lieing sack of crap to me. Told you he'd pop back up again, Alph.

No way this is legit, this guy is a professional scam artist. You may not see it, but there's a screw in there somewhere.

I would imagine its not one sided with him saying its a string but I could be wrong.

What confuses me is your saying it was a large dealing you had with him, over 2 years in the making. But from what ive read last year was when his son and wife died. Wouldnt that mean hes been out of reach?

Now im confused.

It would mean he's been lying to everyone for a looong time. Taking money, building commissions (the same one for multiple people), saying he shipped it (multiple times), not shipping, then selling them on Ebay to others.

How could it be a scam? People and stores offer to send stuff at the winners request. They are the ones that ship. In the first 2 give aways I contacted the winners that he himself listed. Most have replied and gotten stuff either from him or from another person.

I nor anyone else have paid to enter, nor even given an email address. I dont see how its a scam.
