He's also been banned (At least last I heard) from Bartertown, as he used to advertise over there as well and ripped several people off. It seems in this case, other people are offering their miniatures and sending them out of their own accord...which probably explains why they are actually receiving their stuff (As he doesn't have the pieces). Looks like he's using it as a way to advertise for his site and draw followers. Regarding his wife/child, I didn't remember him losing his wife. His wife miscarried early in the pregnancy, which of course is a real tragedy. However, the issue people had was while he was stating that....he was still making/selling stuff on Ebay. Then you have nice chaps like Alpharius, who has more patience than I could muster), that still hasn't received their items....while he continues to do business. There's a bit of history for you.

I vote this thread is closed, if not for anything else than the principle that this guy shat all over many Dakka members and probably led to some belittlement/distrust in the trading section.

I just looked up your report on him. Didnt he refund your money the day you asked? Im confused. If hes lying and ripping people off, why did he refund your money but not other peoples?

Like I said, explain how me giving no info is a scam? And explain how there were winners the first 2 times he seems to have run it? Better yet, did you even read how its done? I assume not.

I personally dont see how gaining followers is a scam. Nor does it even effect me. If people won the last few times, I dont see how his past has bearing on if I have a chance to win. But thats just my opinion.

No Eldress, I did not nor do I plan on reading his blog. Unfortunately, his history of dishonesty both on BT and here on Dakka forces me to doubt anything he types/says. In addition, as I pointed out above while he was telling others he was too distraught to drive to the post office to mail their items....he was making/selling stuff on Ebay (and advertising as such on Warseer).

Hatred is a strong word to use in internet relationships. but he is distrusted/disliked for the reasons I listed above.....and this concludes all of the time I'm going to spend on the subject.

I do agree that if thats the case and he was selling stuff when he was to distraught to ship other things seems wrong. Im looking at his ebay account and he does have a crapload of positives that say alot about fast shipping. With one person leaving some negatives.

Now im confused as to why some people seem to have had great dealings with him and others, well, not so much.

I wish I wouldnt have even posted anything and just stayed a lurker.

Yeah I remember the trade threads that popped up some time ago about this chap - shame to see this all surface again.

Well based on the good and bad about him and the past give aways id say someone will indeed win, in fact I think all 15 winners will really win something as alot of it is direct from people and webstores.

I dont think its a scam. I simply cant see how it can be. A scam would involve me giving something. All he asks is that someone follows because he uses that list. The fact that it doesnt give an email and I can simply unsign up anytime means ive lost nothing. On the other hand the prizes are a nice attraction and to me at least, make sense as to why they are being given out and why they are so nice.

I sent an email asking if I could donate a skeleton regiment. Ill see what he says. Ill simply ship it to an address he gives me for the winner if he lets me.

Though he could be giving prizes donated by others to accounts of his friends and family/alter egos I suppose...

Ive talked to people here in Germany as well as one in the UK and several in the US.

I guess they "could" be friends of his, but family, unlikely. If its friends it seems strange that its people all around. Also, one of the prizes this month was given away because the donator picked the person ti give it to. I asked in my email if he picks the winner or if I can for the prize ill donate.

If he says yes, I dont think its friends of his.

If anything, my email to him is a feeler. So I can get an idea of all this. I didnt mention the trades or any of that for fear of him taking it defensivly. I simply asked about the give away, how it works and if I can donate.

Now if he replies and says something like no, I cant ship it and only he can, ill be a bit iffy now that ive read all this. But since he does havt it open worldwide, I think its legit.

For all we know, and judging by the defense being given, EldressFarseer could be RedStarOne.

I'd advise that nobody send this scammer anything. If you want to pay attention to the blog of somebody who has been ripping off the 40k community for the last couple years more power to you, but there are plenty of blogs/sites out there run by people with no history of ripping people off that probably deserve your time more.

It's sick that this guy hides behind family tragedy to mask his wrongdoings. We've all been a victim of some form of family tragedy. How many of us decided to rip somebody off as a result of it? A criminal is a criminal and RedStarOne certainly fits the bill.

The other guy has a point, you can fake an IP address.

I could be from Germany too if I changed my profile here. I don't know if you are or are not RedStarOne, but why you are putting up such a strong defense for him here at a site you say you have only lurked at for awhile is beyond me. I don't take to defending people I don't know on sites that I don't post too so it just seems a little odd to me.

I still advise people to steer clear of this scam artist who claims to want to pay it forward while still owing much to many people he scammed.

Actually, you couldn't. The Flag isn't based on what you put in your location, it's based on where your IP Address originates(run a search for the various "Why is my flag X when I live in Y?" threads). The only ones who can change that are the Admins(maybe the mods, too).

Again im not defending anyone. I read the reports. I saw how someone already said hes a scammer and the report on that very person says hes was refunded his money. I dont speak for the mans past but whats hes doing now to me is a good deed.

I really feel like im being attacked over this and thats just not ok. I lurked here for a long time because I had seen people get atacked like is happening to me right now. I simply was sharing something that I looked into after reading about it. Sorry that its caused such a dramafest.

Also, I suggest we all adhere to Rule #1(especially those of us attacking a new member for just passing along information) before the Mods swoop down on a chariot of fire.

Without derailing this thread too much, you can. Just make sure you route your traffic through a German proxy. It happens quite a lot on here; I had to get Lego to lock my flag permanently to the UK as my ISP routes traffic through US servers so Dakka thought I was from US.

Its not easy to do but can certainly be done.

I also don't see how this could be a scam, but I understand that there has been harm caused to dakka members, so I get the resentment.

I started following the blog a few days ago, before knowing this info. If I win, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

As well, there's really no point for an American to do it(other than to attempt to get around a banned IP from the Admins), as America's large enough to "hide" in on the internet.

My apologies. It seems that you may have stumbled on to some old dirt inside dakkadakka. It isnt always like this. If you insist you are not this man, then we have no evidence to prove that you are. Also, welcome to Dakka.

I'm sorry OP - innocently or not, you seemed to have walked into the viper's nest on this one. The problem is this guy has an awful lot of history and resentment here on these boards and amongst the community at large. So I am not surprised people are reacting the way they are. And yes, their are often different sides to every story but given the history here, I would suggest it is best to advocate caution when dealing with him, no matter what the deal may be.
