Hey everybody my name is Yuri Devilbiss. I run Bolter Beach A G.W. sanctioned, indy G.T. in Sarasota F.L.. i have been running the event since 03. in the past i have had a friend posting but now i will learn how to use the computer. i will be posting scenarios to be torn apart by you all looking forward to it. the dates are July 14th, 15th, 16th. hope to see you all there.

It is a really great event with a teams tourney on friday. Lots of room and a great store to boot. BTW Yuri, Hammer and Sickle will be back for revenge.

Any thought on moving the location to a different city? If I remember correctly, the 2010 event had 24 people and the Jan 2011 event had 16 - 18 people. Maybe the location is bad. Here in Gainesville we're 2 hours from a lot of major cities.

Are you planning for this July, or next year?

I will be there this year Just moved to Vero Beach a couple days ago. I checked out the website and there wasn't a whole lot of information. What's the registration fee going to be? And it's a 2,000pt tournament, correct?

Oh and yermom, I remember you! I was 4th best general at SVDM :-P The sole Tyranid player among the top tables.

I think its better to have a more centralized location for a major tournament or in Tampa.

Gainesville is centralized for Northern Florida players, but not for people traveling by plane. Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville all have a lot of flights and are equally distant to G'ville though/

I think that Orlando would be a lot better of a destination though. Free shuttles if you pick the right airport to host the event, and lots of activities near bye if you bring the family.

The only problem riding a tournament in Gainesville, is that Yuri doesnt have a place to host an event in that area. I have been going to this tournament since the first and still go even though its in South Fla, come on Ryan ya.ll just live about 2 hours away from Sarasota.

Best location is Orlando if you want people to come from out of state. No large 40k event in Florida has gone off really well yet though because it isn't possible to find enough competent 40k players to run it and judge it since they would rather play. I appreciate what the guys at the Necro did by including a 40k tournament but they never had good missions or judging staff because they were Fantasy people.

There is a group of us that live in Citrus and Marion County and we made the last BB and will headed down for the next one. So the drives not bad and was a lot of fun bs'ing on the way.

Yuri, you realize that the touranment is on a thursday-saturday?

I agree with mjil7atlas, there is a growing 40k community in our area, which happens to be exactly 2 hours from Gainsville, Orlando, Tampa... out of the many different events and tourneys some of us have attended across FL, Bolter Beach was by far the most enjoyable.

Yuri is a great guy and excellent TO and the missions are a blast; which is good for FL because there seems to be a pretty bad amount of Power gamers/bogus tourneys that just seem thrown together to collect your registration fee and awarded to the usual suspects.

If i ever go to florida ill try to get in a game with you guys.

Actually, I'm 3 hours from Sarasota. I was planning on going to the last one when it was scheduled for the week prior. They moved it to the weekend of my wife's birthday. Wife > 40K.

@Shinkaze - I'm decent in tournaments, but I'd actually prefer to help run a large event.

There have been large conventions in G'ville before. Plenty of hotels and conference centers, and not to mention the UF campus and buildings. Eventually I'll host one up here. Now to find out where would be the best. We only have one game store and not enough tables & terrain for 64 people (I'm thinking 6 rounds), which means all the other clubs will have to bring tables and terrain.

Cool cool, good to see an official date. Gives me a bit more incentive to finish off all of my crab clawed little beauties. Provided our wedding allows the funds to be spared, I'll drag my shiny new daemons and my fiance` will bring along her 'nids.

That or I'll procrastinate too long and just try to whip the Pretty Marines into better shape for a second run.

I've been to both past Bolter Beaches and thoroughly enjoyed both of them. The 40k community in Florida is a lot more sparse than in other parts of the country (I blame the weather), and nothing's really close. I lived in Gainesville for years, and the 40k community there always faded in and out.

I'm looking forward to it again this summer! The location is actually a pretty easy 1 hour drive from the Tampa airport too for those of you considering flying in.

We will be making a special trip down to visit friends and family and bringing the crew for the event.

I know most of my club plans on attending! Loking forward to it!

Well, my calendar says not going to be able to make it. If you host it Aug 12 - 14 I can either help on the weekend out or come play.

Thursday - Saturday is a no for me anyway. Not enough vacation time available for two days off.

Woody, we may have to try and schedule an extra friendly game to ensure that I actually get to play against you this time.

@Lorek: come to the Gainesville Kill Team tournament next weekend and I'll pair you two first round if you want. Otherwise you can play regular 40K after the tournament is over at 6PM.

@Yuri - now that the tournament is Fri - Sun I may be able to help judge the event on Sat & Sunday. I have to travel for work Wed - Friday, but I may be able to help the last two days.

I can't be there next Saturday; we have a huge system go-live that weekend. Sorry.

I am looking at coming up for the May tournament though (and my comment about girly Tau in the PM was specifically about my Tau; can't comment on anyone else's Tau!).

Maybe a few other girly Tau can show up.

The good news is that I should have my Traitor Guard done for Bolter Beach. Be nice to play a new army.
