My friends are compaining that my Monolith is super beast and immpossible to kill. Same with the Nightbringer. So, what are some ways to take down a Monolith and the Nightbringer?

For the nightbringer: Make him roll lots of dice. He'll inevitably fail rolls.

For the monolith: Use anything that is S9 or above.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

If you don't have something that's str 10, ignore the lith. Its not worth it. I see people all the time throw tons of shots hoping to get a great roll. Just phase them out. Play the odds.

Shoot the Night bringer.
Ignore the Monolith and shoot enough stuff to phase him out.

try not to engage the nightbringer in cc. shoot him to death if you must handle him. Lith is better off ignored but if you can't, shoot it with S9+ weapons or if you can, hit it with ccw that gives you the +2D6 roll for pen like the warscythe or chain fist.

You only get 1D6 to pen against a monolith. That's why it's difficult to crack.

For the Monolith: Lascannons, Stormhammers, Nobz with Power Klaws, ignoring it is also an option...

For the Nightbringer: lots and lots of dakka.

I've got to go with ignore them both and go for phase out. You're committing 500+ points for 2 models, so you won't have many Necron models to kill before running away.

What armies are they playing? We could possibly give better advice if we knew what they had available.

What about Lance weapons? Don't they count everything as armour 12?

Monolith removes Lance effects.

Against the Nightbringer, a good tactic is to use Poisoned Weapons. Splinter, Sternguard and Snipers are brilliant for this role.

From my experience vs Nightbringer and Monoliths:

Against the Nightbringer, snipers are effective since they'll be wounding it on a 4+. Poisoned weapons are also good, and guns that are S8 or higher. Assaulting it is a fun challenge, but expect to die - it's pretty much suicide.

Against the Monolith, you need to shoot it with a ton of S9/10 weapons, preferably with AP1. Really, your best hope is to get lucky and get a lot of 6's in a row.

Monoliths can be taken down by demolisher cannons, either from Leman Russ Demolishers, Vindicators, or Chaos Vindicators. Nightbringer can go down to lots and lots of small arms fire, plasma guns, melta guns, autocannons, lascannons, missile launchers, poisoned weapons, and so on.

What armies are they using?

Orks will put a beating on both of those guys, Warbosses for the Monoliths and Lootas for the Nightbringer.

Sternguard and a Null Zone Librarian will melt the Nightbringer down in one turn, as well.

Ideally you wouldn't bother killing either. Target anything with the necron rule instead and go for phase out. Tau with railguns are just about the only thing worth shooting at it with. Demolishers and lascannons are both better off aimed at other things.

The Nightbringer can be fairly easily handled if you've got a significant number of poisoned or S8+ weapons, but you're still generally going to better off aiming for any necrons to force phase out.

Yeah, but what if the Monoliths and C'Tan are between you and the Warriors and whatnot?

That's what a good player would be doing.

The sink.

Because of phase out you can ignore both monoliths and the Nightbringer. Focus on killing necrons and make them phase out.

If you really want to kill a lith, shoot your biggest guns at it. Hope for a pen and a 5 or 6.

For the Nightbringer, play DE and use poison to kill him. Or snipers. Anything that wounds on a set number works.

What the point?
Force weapons?
You'd have to get in CC with him and it's a fair bet he will rip you apart in CC unless you manage to use a psychic power to boost your I.

Wraithcannons, D-Cannons and EMP grenades (if your friends play Eldar or Tau) are good ways to get rid of the monolith as there is no armour penetration roll to make with any of those.
