So ya I want a shooty army.

My idea convert normal dwarfs to chaos dwarfs run them with normal dwarf rules but much more angry

I have a ton of chaos bits so this shouldnt be too hard.
Give dwarf warriors marauder shields (since I have a pile of them) or warriors shields.

Replace hammerers hammers with axes maces etc that look evil.

Make daemonic looking cannons and other war machines.

Basically make dwarf units look like they have gone to chaos so they will look nice with my woc.

So ya input is appreciated.
This is not going to be happening that soon so no rush but ya suggesting units or how to convert stuff suggestions are appreciated since my idea only go so far.

Sounds like a really nice idea.

One point is that Forge World is releasing Chaos Dwarf rules soon, so if you have the models, it might be easier to use that.

Plus, you get to buy Forge World stuff.

Just buy FW Chaos dwarfs

Sorry guys fw is not any where near my budget :( I do like the dwarf models tho and really want to convert them.

As I say, you've got the models (abet in bits), and it's only about £45 for the new book, judging by the other books.

And, the one or two FW models you have to buy aren't that expensive, or you can just chaosify Dwarf cannons and such.

Just my thoughts.

I think it's a great idea. Unlike FW models which are not in everyones budget (I was a little surprised at the blase way it was suggested buying them) it just costs an investment of time.
Would make a very good P&M blog as you convert models up and paint em up.

Without a doubt I love some of the fw models and drool at the thought of owning them. That how're not in the budget this dosnt mean I won't get any I am planning on getting a few but that is going to take time.

When and if I do start this I will most likely start something so people can see how I'm progressing and can give me input on the fly this will possibly start in a few month or when ever I sell my necrons.

Warriors of Chaos bitz could be used very effectively, you know the 8 pointed star that goes on the Standard? On the Cannon. You know the spikes that go on the Warriors heads? On the Cannon. There are heaps of Chaos bitz that could make a Cannon Chaos-ified without going FW.

The really sad part is that FW isn't much more expensive then regular GW nowdays.


I would Chaosify regular Dwarves for the bulk of your army and then maybe buy some of the Forge World character models and a couple of the Warmachines. and the rules of course.

That way you have a FW chaos dwarf army on a budget.

I was thinking of running them as normal dwarfs as in use their normal rule book just make em all evil looking and such.

At some point yes i would like some fw models and ya at this rate gw models will be the same price as fw :(

I am not bad with green stuff and I have so many chaos spikes and banner toppers and evil looking stuff it will be good times.

Check out the guys over at Chaos-dwarfs.com a lot of them converted their armies from regualr dwarfs using chaos bitz. Some of them are really nice. You should be able to get some good ideas over there. More evil stunties are always a welcome sight

So scarily true, i got a bunch of (what i think are superior) AoW models for cheaper than the GW counterparts.

Chaos Dwarves Online also has a rad tutorial to convert your own lil people of chaos from battle for skull pass dwarves, which are easy to get on the cheap. I am definitely working on a tight budget so, this has been awesome.

I've tried my hand at it, and am pretty pleased with the results thus far.

Yes, FW is quite costlybut soooo worth it, their spikey giant is definitly something I dont regret buying.

Mantic has a range of Chaos ("Abyssal") Dwarfs as well...

Not to everyone's taste, but imo they're great and unless you only play at gw stores you're mental if you dont use them.

I really like the mantic stuff, would probally have gone that route if i wasn't such cheap skate. As affordable as mantic is, BFSP on ebay are very easy to get a hold of.

I tip my hat to you . That said I've had some very old heartbreaker high elf style models used in GW and they just assume they're from the 4th ed period

Ah I see I have some really sharp people at my gw so they catch it. The manager just told me not to be all hey check this model out it's not from gw which is ok with me. I just tell people it's a ton of different bits with some green stuff sculpting ( I use a converted aow chaos model).
But ya I like the dwarf models and wanna convert so I dig the ideas I think the war machines will be the center pieces.

Cool, if you're incliend to check them out, I've been scratch building my chaos dwarf warmachines. So far, I like earth shaker cannons and spear chuckas, they are made from things like chap stick tubes, bottle caps, coat hangers, and some old wire from a computer mouse that "failed me for the last time".

We've a tourney coming up that centers around killing the other dudes dragons, so I'm thinking I may need to pump out at least two more spear chuckas.
