The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

While I like the older rhinos, you can still get the original ones on ebay for less than $50 USD. This one looks beefier, but I'll pass.
I'm loving the Relic Contemptor. I'm guessing it will have venerable or something else to make it stay alive longer. Perhaps it's invulnerable save is bumped from a +5 to a + 3 or +4?

Totally agree Wasn't I just day dreaming about this in the Proteus thread? Better than I could've asked for, honestly. The price is a bit much, unless it comes with a rhino kit.
But wait.. They really couldn't include the top hatch? The top hatch was important. And the lights were just little holes. Not lights. Might just pick up and old rhino on ebay...

Aren't there some very decent parts kits that "just happen" to fit over the current rhino that "makes it sort of look like" the old pattern rhino, that cost about a fifth of this?
I will agree that the relic contemptor looks cool.

That new rhino looks totally boss. Price is really steep for a 35 point transport though. Relic contemptor is just a busier contemptor, but that's cool.

The mk1 is nice, but as ^^ he said, I'd think I'd just pick up the Chapterhouse Studios kit. I have a few of the old rhinos, but the proportions are all off compared to the new rhino kit, this and the CHS one fix that but keep the same aesthetic.
Will be nice for all of those pre-heresy armies out there to have some rhinos for all those beautiful troops!

I honestly have no idea why FW is on this 90s retro kick. There are so many old-style plastic Rhinos around. Hell, I've even got a few hiding in boxes somewhere. I guess it's time to dust them off and toss them up on eBay.

DIG the newold (trademark!) Rhino kit. I'm loving this stuff! And the thing I like about it most is that it keeps the "body" of the current kit which really looks sized for 10 marines, while bringing back the aesthetic of the old one. Super awesome! Rounded Predator turret next week, anyone?!?!

To each their own...
I've been buying up old school rhinos for my Crimson Fists, using the fluff of the destruction of their fortress requiring them to scavenge older materiel until their Forgeworld (lol) could bring in new equipment.
If only I had known these were on the way. Still that $50 price tag is pretty steep for a DT. Any word on whether it's a conversion kit or includes the rhino with the bits?

I'm really hoping that it isn't ~50$ for one rhino conversion kit. I'm working on a pre-hersey army and this will fit in perfectly with some of my other MK1 rhino conversion kits. If that's the price with a rhino, I'd probably buy myself an entire army of them.
I'm glad I was awaiting for Contemptor autocannon arms before ordering, that Relic dread is pretty awesome and will fit into my BA army easily. GS a Blood drop over the Aquila's eagle and I'm in business. I've heard rumors that the Contemptors maybe included in the next SM codex. Anyone else hear this ? I'm planning on running these guys as regular dreads in my pre-heresy force and I'm a little concerned about dropping ~200$ on a 3 FW models that may change how I can use them in the next codex. I know the SM codex is a ways off, but never the less it would suck to have these awesome models and have my opponents complain about wysiwyg issues.
I haven't been able to find a good reference picture, but can contemptors claim a cover save behind a rhino, or would it not be obscured enough ?

Interesting, I wonder what else is planned for the Contemptor, more specifically and beyond what has already been implied! I want to buy one now, but I don't want to be blind-sided by something new that I would have rather bought in the first place! Hmmm, my wallet will thank me for being patiant. The retro Rhino kit is cool, but I think a completely new model would have been more interesting, it would also be more expensive, so oh well. You could actually add the CHS's vents to the FW kit, haha.

From the FW News Flash email:
The MkIc Deimos Pattern Rhino, designed by Daren Parrwood, is a complete resin and plastic kit, containing a standard Games Workshop Rhino kit as well as sufficient resin conversion components to construct the MkIc Deimos Pattern variant. Priced at £33, this fantastic kit will be on sale in limited quantities at Games Day UK, well in advance of its general release date.
So it is a rhino + conversion kit for £33

...meh. I really like pretty much all the other PH stuff (hell, I'm building an army pretty much out of the 'older' mark stuff) - but I'm underwhelmed with the Rhino.
don't get me wrong, I like the doors, and the grated steps beneath them; there's just too many dissimilarities (grates on front and back of sides, for example?) and some weird-ass exhausts for me to replace my 5 CH-PH-Rhino-kit-fitted Rhino hulls with these. shame. it could've been much, much better.
oh well, I guess my wallet is thankful, it's still dreading replacing my MK.IV dreads bought a month before the contemptor was first unveiled with some of those, haha.

It looks like FW couldn't decide if they wanted to give it the sloped predator front or the double door rhino front and said "both!" I think the Proteus captures the retro feel better than the Mk1 Rhino. It is cool, I just don't think it says Mk1 rhino as much as it should.

I agree completley with what ph34r said. It is an interpretation of what the old school rhino 'would' have looked like if the design team had had access to todays technology. It is basically the same as the contemptor in this way, old model, completley revamped but still maintaining the old school feel.
Relic comtemptor looks great! Glad I put off buying the normal one now
