Jabba the Slythe is growing on me.

The giant Minotaurs still look like pants (and what does the Cygore do after he's thrown the big stone? Go over and pick it up again?).

And I'm so conflicted over the Mangler. I love Squigs... but I really dislike that model. And copy-pasting it three times in the same picture isn't improving it for me.

Really? I don't like Jabba, but I like the Cygor...

More interested in Blood on the Badlands though.

I also like that Jabberslythe... are his eyes down on the sides, lower than the top of his mouth?

I think he'd look great with a nugle warlord sat atop, perhaps a kitbashed combo of the manticore rider and the new plastic nurgle champion.

I also really like that doombull, despite not liking the plastic minotaur kit much, I think he's a lot less silly looking (and less bright pink!).

Not sold on the ghorg or cygor though, they do look too much like a weird kitbash of the fairly icon GW giant and therefore not suited to the rest of the beastman range. I much prefer the maelstrom and microart studios range versions.

Not gonna lie, the Ghorgon looks like a Giant with an Ox head and 2 extra arms. Looks sloppy, IMHO, the concept art was way cooler.

He throws another one. What do the catapults do after they throw the stone they're modeled with? What does the Skaven Plagueclaw Catapult do after it launches it's stuff?

It all throws stuff again. Just like the Cygor.

Artillery models. How do they work?

Simple worglock, the empire cannon fires the next cannonball, and the next, and the next.
Comes with 6 in total, so enough to see you through a game

Jabber - im loving this, was worried GW would make it look like a slowed mess, alas, tis not the case.
As stated, would make a nice chaos mount. (nurgle dragon anyone?)

Manglers - love em, however, they are squigs so i need not say anymore.

Not keen on the other stuff though, not my thing.

..."gorgeous"? Really? That has to be a troll comment, especially since the doombull is probably the best-looking model there (and it's still ugly).

I also like how GW keeps trumpeting the fine detail of their kits, but a lot of the time it seems like they just get lazy and decide not to sculpt all the details...for example, is the jabberslythe supposed to have scales? Because it's body is covered in these little clusters of 3-5 scales but most of it is smooth, like they thought "feth it, it looks good enough, they get the idea...if they want scales that bad they can sculpt the rest of them, and they'll pay for the privilege!" You could argue that it's "supposed" to be like that, since it's just a weird freaking monster that defies sense and logic, but I've seen that with other kits like the stegadon, too, and other scaly creatures sculpted by competent artists like Jes Goodwin (the Dark Elf cold ones come to mind) are covered in scales like you'd expect a dinosaur to be, so I'm inclined to believe it's laziness/cutting corners.

The price is absurd, too, but that goes without saying...I literally lol'd at the ghorgon/cygor price, you couldn't pay me to take that kit off your hands, and you're charging over $50 for it? What a joke. Even GW thinks it's funny apparently because they show off pictures of its bare ugly ass like it was an important detail they felt needed to be showcased. The doombull literally surprised me, though...$50 for that one model? I shouldn't be surprised, but GW keeps finding ways of outdoing itself. So how much is the doombull going to be after next year's price increase? $55? $60 the year after? How insane can the price of a single model that's slightly larger than standard infantry possibly get? The suspense is killing me.

On the bright side, the 40k megaforces are actually a decent price, less than what I was expecting them to be. Might actually get the DE one after all.

This actually sounds like the troll comment...

I know that I am in the minority, but I like the Minotaurs. I also like the doombull...I just refuse to pay the exorbitant price for it...same with the LotR dragon...love the model, but $70+? I like the Jabberslythe, and I think that I could make a decent Cygor/Ghorgon between that kit and a giant kit...but now we're talking $120...not worth it to me. As much as I love my beastmen army, I'm passing on this lot for the time being...

Ordering these new Advance Orders never worked properly today. I was in a GW store when the items appeared on the site, no one could order them there or apparently anywhere else.

GW has posted this notice about the situation.

Games Workshop
Due to a technical fault with the website, we are unable to process any advance orders through the checkout. This means that, just for now, we have had to take the advance orders off the site.

Rest assured though, we will be working tirelessly around the clock to resolve the matter as soon as possible. We hope you bear with us, as we fix the problem!

Kind Regards

Yes, and that's probably my favorite part of the kit. Though I actually like the whole thing overall as a beast mutated at random by the Warp.

I also really like that rock the Cygor is carelessly launching about. I wonder if the local beastman player will be willing to part with it if he gets that four-armed giant with a snubbed cow face.

Seeing these larger pictures, nothing here is particularly bad. The Jabberslythe is pretty awesome, and I like the Mangler Squig... THe Cygor/Ghorgon is...not terrible. Not great, but not bad. The skulls on the Ghorgon are a bit over the top, but then again, these are Warhammer minis.

To be fair it isn't like the "haters" don't get their fair share of name-calling. In fact the name "hater" is itself a dirty name that's not warranted in the slightest.

Do two wrongs make a right? No, but it usually makes me feel better, so...lol.

I agree with you completely, it was unreasonable. I probably shouldn't have said anything, but seriously, when someone uses a word as strong as "gorgeous" to describe...these...I have to question its use.

If someone wants to explain their reasoning and go into detail about what in particular makes these kits "gorgeous", especially when compared to some of the offerings in Maelstrom's Banebeasts line for example, I'll listen, and I'm genuinely interested in hearing about it. I explained (mostly in the other thread) what bothers me about the ghorgon/cygor kit in particular so I feel like I've done my part here as far as that goes.

But like I said, yeah, it was a trollish thing to do and I apologize to Mewiththeface (or "mewface" as I typically read it) if he was offended.

First of all, I have been banned before for trolling, so if Dakka "belongs to the haters" they have a funny way of showing it.

Second, it's real easy to label as "broken record GW-bashing" when you only pay attention to the negative things and ignore all the times I've said that GW did right. I've done almost nothing but gush over the Dark Eldar models for example, even though I'm not 100% happy with everything (mostly that comes from models getting Finecast treatment as my Finecast experience has been mostly negative, although I do agree that maybe the wyches could have been done a tad better [although I'm not interested in making a nerdy wet dream army of practically nude elf women like some people were]).

I also remember on Warseer that when the Ork stompa came out I was one of the few that liked it, and everyone else criticized it because "It was something that should be scratchbuilt" and there weren't enough options to make every stompa unique and "proper". Other than that I'm not sure what to say, if people want me to say more nice things about GW then they should stop making bad models?
