I guess they would. But seeing as how Earth's never going to get attacked, we'll never know for sure. But they'll get killed to a man as soon as we find out about them.

Yes, and a very very large and well-equipped one. Probably the strongest in the Imperium by weight of numbers.

The PDF of Terra were out celebrating another day without invasion with balloons, and were killed to a man.

The PDF of Terra went to Pizza Hut to celebrate Greg's Birthday, and were killed to a man.

The PDF of Terra opened their stockings on Christmas Morning, and were killed to a man.

Knowing that the PDF are pretty incompetent, and they already have Imperial Fists and countless guardsmen, I would say no, there is no PDF.

Eiither that or they were killed to a man

They seem to have Imperial Guard Regiments that only operate within Segmentum Solar (so as not to venture too far from home should they be needed). In the 3rd Armageddon War IG regiments known as Terran Armored Catapracts were listed.

Terra has fleets galore, the GK, Mars, Titan Legons, the Custodes, the 2 Warhounds inside the Emperor's chamber, the Psychic choir that is the Astronomican, who must have soe psychic attacks. Like the Emperor telling them that a daemon is possessing Bob on Northwest Street, and they just mind nuke said Daemon. It is also a planet full of pilgrims, who could be given a gun and told to fight, like Eldar Guardians, or Conscripts. Not to mention that there is the Biggest Orbital defenses anywhere, and the Imperial Palace itself to help protect Him. I don't think they need a PDF, but they probably do.

Terra has a PDF, but its not a PDF in the traditional sense. Terra's defenders are the most BAMF humans you will find in the entire galaxy, not to mention the vast Armada and Defense Platforms that are in the entire system.

Luna itself is a massive defense platform and ship dock.

Then we have Mars and the Ad mech's fleet.

Finally we have the Saturnian Fleet(the Saturnian naval academy produces the finest ships captains in the galaxy)

Not to mention all the other forces that would come to Terra to protect her.

Hmm, that would make sense, I guess. Looking at Cadia, it doesn't really have a "PDF" per se as well, but rather Imperial Guard regiments performing as one. Due to its importance, it would be logical to employ the same principle of "direct leadership" and increased quality standards on Terra as well. Especially given that the Guard's commander-in-chief is located there as well (granted, that's an assumption, too, but based on him being a member of the terran-based Council of High Lords).

There's only so much training it's possible to give someone. How would Terra's life-long brutal training bla bla bla be superior to Cadia's when they seem to be identical?

From way back when I first read something about Terra in 40k it always struck me as a huge urban wasteland covered in decaying and towering cities, with its oceans boiled away during the HH and the demands of its teeming masses, and all of its population toiling in factories and in the Administrorium ( images of pale underfed workers, and souless paper colaters preforming the never ending toil of keeping the empire staggering along its dark (grimdark) path.

Kinda like this excerpt from the Wiki..

"The bulk of Terra's massive population is divided between the upper class that includes the Imperial nobility and Adepts of the Administratum and the lower classes who serve as basic labourers. The upper class is comprised of the official servants of the Emperor and his Imperium, including Imperial officials, Ecclesiarchy clergy, the aristocratic families of the Navis Nobilite, military officers, scribes, and bureaucrats. The teeming masses who comprise the Terran lower classes are far less-privileged, and many of them are nothing more than serfs or thralls who toil in the world's countless manufactorums, providing the infrastructure that keeps the heart of the Imperium's byzantine bureaucracy functioning. Terra has one moon, Luna, which is an inhabited and highly populous Civilised World of the Imperium in its own right. "

Never seemed like a recruiting base for a PDF or IG, likely the best from throughout the imperium would preform tours there ( likely a lifetime tour ) and be rotated as needed from battlefield throughout the IoM, since static garrisons that never see any action are not exactly the best to entrust with the defense of the Emperor's throne planet. training no matter how intensive is no substitue for actual experiance.

But its real guards are as many already mentioned, the Custodes, Imp Fists etc. I imagine a huge Arbities body though. Got to keep those wage slaves, slaving

I guess I have always thought if your born on terra, you get to be a clerk, just like the folks did, and their folks, and their folks.........kinda bleak.

Grimdarkness for ya.

Terra isn't so much a waste land as its one single hive city.

The upper levels are where all the wealthy live and where all the important structures are.

The lower levels are inhabited by successivly poorer classes till you reach a point where the city continues downwards, but people really don't venture. So the super poor who can't afford the rent prices live in the abandoned lower levels.

its said that if you go deep enough you can find many of the original cities of terra still buried down there. Nova Yoark, Roma, Londinium...

The only surface bits still poking above the city are the tips of some mountain ranges and the polar ice caps(the south pole is where the Inquisition is based)

A person born on Holy Terra is committed to a lifetime career in the civil service at birth. The thought of being forced into a life of beuracracy, unnecessary commitee meetings, 'team building exercises' , red-tape, form-filling and the accoutrements of working in the public sector fills me with more dread than any of the grimmest, darkest things the 40K universe can throw at me...

You forgot the dreadful Candlemas parties where the Logister-Comptroller gets drunk on amasec and ends up pict-replicating his buttocks while servo skulls dance to a dreadful song, bobbing from side to side in a vain attempt to keep in time with the music and the Loremaster Lexographer fails entirely to get off with one of the junior female scriveners.
