Apart from feeding the recycling monster do you guys and gals use your empty boxes for anything useful?
I have tonnes of them at this stage. I usually cut them up and use them as a painting workstation base, to protect my desk or obviously use them when spray painting but aside from that anything cool I can do with them?

I generally use them to spray on, not much more you can do with it as I detest using cardboard for scratch building.

I use them for recycling, mostly.

For holding piles of sprue that go into recycling.

And for burning in effigy.

Cut up into random shapes and stacked on top of each other in rough steps, they can create small mounds to put on the base of larger pieces of terrain.

When covered with glue and sand you can't see the card and they add a subtle variation that you can still place models on.

Other than that, just use them to spray models on.

I keep GW boxes to store models in. Shipping boxes I throw away (into the proper recycling container of course)

I always build my scratch builds in cardboard first as it is easier to work with and you waste less plasticard to mistakes.

I build the thing in cardboard then use the different sections as templates. If you are building a symetrical item you only need to build half of it in cardboard first.

I have also seen this done:

I would like to stress this is by Dabedman not me and yes I would play against this model because it's FUNNY.

The larger boxes I keep to store models in.
The small boxes pretty much just lay there in a pile...I should get rid off them, I can't see the floor anymore because of them!
I was thinking of cutting the front of the boxes off and tacking the to the wall as sort of a poor-man's poster.

I spray upstairs, in a room where I open the window and vent it with a large fan. I use the terrain boxes as trays to carry the models up and down the stairs.

I use the larger ones to store models or armies, never know when you may need a box!

I am a firm believer in that cardboard is vastly underrated and the boxes you get can be used for many things all around the house.

Yes, funny boxes and signs, but also hardwood flooring for your bases, posters on terrain, extra armour plating on your tanks.
For Orky conversions as a poor mans plasticard?

For bigger terrain pieces such as:
Bunkers, asphalt roads, fences, decoy tanks (like they use in real war, as a matter of fact)

All you need is a sharp knife, a good pair of scissors, a piece of stiff cardboard paired up with a good imagination and the world is your oyster!

ps. Yay for publicity, thank you Sonophos for putting my stuff out there!

The PP boxes come with these great plastic trays, which, if cut in two, are perfect for mixing weathering pigments, custom washes, etc.

I use the plastic trays to store bits. The sprues get turned into scenery.

@Dabedman You are most welcome.

Most of my boxes usually mysteriously disapear to female cleaning monster, never to be seen again. Although I do either use them for plasticard temples, spray stations and, well, that's pretty much it. Possibly scenery basing.

Packaging material is really usefull for many things
boxes:
If they're a good size, I'll use them for figure or terrain storage. The current boxes are just ok, and often become fodder for card detailng. However, the larger and older boxes with top and bottom are quite sturdy and I use alot of them for storage.

blisters:
Save the foam for packing material. I used to toss all the plastic, but now I save some for armor plating on vehicles.
All the armor plates here are pieces of blister pack with rivets embossed by pressing with a 1/16 hole punch but not punching all the way through.

Clamshells:
Great for repacking used figures for sale at auctions or flea markets. Folks will give more interest (and probably pay more) for individualy packaged, easy to see figures.

I use them as storage & transport for my models, also as staging areas for spray painting, I even found a tutorial for turning several into a multi-layered carry case.

Now if only I could find something that 4 valkyries & 2 vultures fit in

I actually use card for scratch building when I'm on a budget or want to make something really big, like my half made titan. It is not at all durable on it's own, but heavily varnished and reinforced with sprue I can make myself a free stompa.

In your face GW! I don't need no £60 kit. I got an ugly piece of sprue with bits falling off it that falls apart with a sharp eyeshot!

you can use them (or any card) to make cheap barricades.

decide how tall you want your barricade. Mark out a strip 4 times that width (with lines length-wise marking out the four sections), and a strip two times that width. cut them out of the card. Score the lines you marked out on the wide strip, then fold it so edge on it looks like an upside down T. glue the two middle sections together with PVA, then glue the narrow strip to the other two sections to form a base. cut the corners off the base at roughly 45 degree angle, so you end up with an elongated hexagon from above, so you can make a continous line of them. Paint.

I use boxes to spray models on, mainly. They do the job nicely. I use bigger ones like the Battle Force box as an army holder.

I use battleforce/battalion boxes as storage for extra sprue and bits that haven't been properly cataloged yet.

For the thinner card stock boxes that units come in, I use them to block out areas for airbrushing.
