The first army I ever built for 40k about 15 years ago where The Crimson Vulture Space Marines.
I played with them a few years and then got carried of to Nid's and later to IG.

But last Autum I played a "surprise game" against one of my friends without knowing what he would field (and the other way round) . And so I decided to give the Vultures another shot.
And what a great game that was!
So I started playing them again and, as always when I "restart" an army, thought about enhancing the paint job.

First I painted some Sanguine guard models for my new Vanguard Unit (pics not availible at the moment) an than I did a few Terminators that Anung Un Rama gave me for Christmas.

I now use a combination of drybrushing an a little bit of inking instead of painting them full and then doing some highlights.

Up next is my new Stormraven (also a cristmas present) and because I don't like the actual look of the model I decided to chance the design a little.

At the moment it looks like this

Interesting. It looks more Star Wars-ish at the moment, though that might not be a bad thing.

Wings are glued on now :-)

Next Step is the location of the turbines:

I tent to use the second variation. Any suggestions ?

I know it might be a little late, but I would take advantage of your own Chapter's moniker when designing its aircraft.

I would put the wings far forward on the craft. Combined with the cockpit forming the hooked beak, you can give it a sinister buzzard like appearance.

But I do definitely like the look. It bulks up the rear of the craft nicely.

The set-up with the turbines on top looks very Flash Gordon-y, maybe not quite what you had in mind. The other one reminds me of a hover tank.

Ok, I glued the trubines on as shown in the second picture.

Now I'm thinking about wether or not putting on a Dreadnaught hook. I have some parts that could work but I'm not sure if it will improve the overall look of the model.

also I'm not sure about putting on the tail and the fin

@ Goresaw: I tried to put the wings on the front but it didn't work out as well as putting the on the back. Thanks for the input though

Stopping by from Anung Un Rama's thread. I like what you are doing w/ the Stormraven, it's an odd-looking model to begin with (looks like it stopped way too fast coming out of the Warp and squished up) but with the changes you've made it breaks up the profile and I'm liking your version a lot more.

The Terminators are excellent. They look like they are just one small step shot of screaming "Blood for the Blood God".

I'm not much into Loyalists but I'm all about good modeling. Subbed and will be back now and then.

Yeah I know the Heavy Bolter at the rear is not in the original Profile but the Group I play in allows almost every Conversion as lang as it has adequate Point costs. AND it just looked to cool not to do it :-)

I'm not a big fan of the heckwings you added on top. Makes it look more like a plane, even though nothing of the rest does.

Apart from that, a solid conversion.

Cool stuff, the storm raven is really different, but its not half bad

Interesting conversion - I'm not sure about the top tail fins, doesnt look right with the rounded wings.

Great work here! It takes some serious cojones to hack up a stormraven! I do like the rear HB: it reminds me of a WWII bomber

Anung Un Rama wrote:I'm not a big fan of the heckwings you added on top.

I do have to agree with Rama on this one. Right now, it looks like an afterthought. I think it would look better if you added a short tail with the fins on it (though I don't know how that would mesh with your HB)

Keep up the great work!

I tried to use just the fin but it didn't look right. And if I add the whole tail section it looks too much like a stormraven ;-)

But maybe I will ged rid of the tail wings...

Ok, here's the Carrion Crow with an (almost) finished Paintjob.
Sorry for the blurry Images, I'll take a few better ones on the Weekend. Just couldn't wait to share it with you guys :-)

Let's get some more Terminators done... :-)

I agree. The paint really does help sell the idea of what it is supposed to be.

I really like what you did with the Stormraven. I think Skalk has it - whereas the stock model looks rather squished or truncated, yours is simply dense. Heavily armed and armored while remaining compact, it looks like a cannonball of a ship designed to punch through damn near anything.

Nice paint job, good design. I bet it fits into a case a lot better now too.

Thanks!
I especialle like the "punching through" part. :-) And it really has a lot to pull out if you don't move him too far.

I hope I'll have my Terminator Assault Squad ready when I play my next game. They should give quite a Punch toghether with the Stormraven

In addition to that I put a little work in my Chaptermaster model (don't have a Charakter Name yet)
I always wanted a Hammer for that one and was not too sure what to do with the other arm (other than NOT using the severed Ork head the kit comes with)
But I found a remaining Plasma Pistol from the Sanguine Guard Boxand I think it fits perfectly.

What do you think?

Love the pose on the SR for your chapter! Fits the name quite nicely

I've seen one of those CH models in-person, they're perfect for BA . Only problem is the monster base it has to be mounted on, if I remember right.

NIce Stormraven conversion indeed!

A unique take on a model that needs 'help' to look good - and you've more than done that!

I like it. Seems more like an evolutionary step between a drop pod and a thunderhawk now. Makes me think of the ALIENS 'express elevator to hell' scene. I think you should re-attach the vent on the back though, the top looks a tad too flat without it IMHO.

If you had a straight-on shot, I think the wings would remind me of one of the advanced TIE figthers from Star Wars.

Excellent work, man. I also like your painted terminators from the Space Hulk game.

@ RiTides: You're right, the Base doesn't fit at all :-)

@ Medium of Death: I tried to do that, but it looked to much like the original SR and second, I really like the flat look

If you can, try to extend the hammer's shaft in the other direction. That way it looks like he really needs the second hand for close combat.
