Seriously, is it just too hard to figure out how to use the back of a hobby knife blade and a tank brush to do this with? What next, GW sanctioned paper towels to clean your brushes? Special GW brush-cleaning water? The mind boggles.

Cleaning tools have some use, truthfully. Though a waste of time and money, they are no were as close to a waste as this little $5 USD bugger:

I am just surprised how expensive it is really. The tank brush I can get, but you know if you have to a good old toothbrush will do I suppose, it's cheaper at least (if of course you don't pick a expensive one ).

tbh that water pot isnt that bad it holds the brush away from the base so it dosnt damage the ends and is about the same price as buying one from a art store ..

You can get a pretty bitchin file set (10 files with a nice handle) and some pretty nice sidecutters at a hobby store for about $8.

Throw in a brush set (15+ plastic and wire brushes) and you're getting close to what GW is charging for their crappy little "clean up kit".

I suppose they have to sell something since files seem to be redundant on FC.

I'm not sure who cant work out that any square surface and a toothbrush can't do the same job?

I must admit I bought one - but I only really wanted the brush for cleaning hard to reach parts on my bike.

I could have probably picked up something similar cheaper somewhere, but the long handle on the brush was just perfect for my needs.

The amusing thing is that with the pot kids will leave the brushes bristles down in the water, and probably on the bottom, thereby reducing the lifespan of the brushes and need to run to GW to buy more sooner. Got to hand it to GW, they certainly like those little tricks, probably why they sell the palette that they do and not a wet palette.

I got one of these. No use for the brush (as yet. If I ever buy anything in finecast, who knows?) but I quite like the little mould line scraper thingy, since I got fed up stabbing myself in the thumb with a craft knife. It's not a complete replacement, but seems to do the job reasonably well (and draw less blood)

I actually admire GW for this. Those who arent smart enough or arrnt spending their own money(AKA me formally) will buy it

All the GW tools are very over priced. The idea is good but the final cost is excessive. Couple of quid you'll find something that does the job.

Same I suppose with the paint pot. I actually have that one, got it when I got the new paint station as a present. But again you can easily just use an old jam jar (exactly what i was doing before).

Cannot fault GW for doing this, many, many people will only look at GW for tools etc. Who can blame them if they sell them. More fool the people who pay it then say, hang on that was expensive.

Not so much that I like it - I agree with you that it was pretty damned expensive, it just filled a need & was readily available.

Well, I'm definetly not getting this.... but I know a bunch of little buggers who just need to point at something and their mom buys it....

Anyway, I'm surprised GW has not yet released their new and improved "GW Hobby air" wich you are suppoed to breathe while painting, and "GW dirt" to smear on your base..... wait, they already have that...lol

I bought the GW Pin Vise that came out about five years ago....the one with the metal hex bit pommel. Great find, wish I had bought two as I don't like the one they currently market.

I'm on board with the prevailing sentiment about expensive GW made tools for newbs, but damn, that pin vise is great.

Younger kids may not be allowed to use a hobby knife..? People don't want to possibly damage their brushes?

I don't have much use for the brush myself but I bought this for the scraper- works really well and I can see it's great for kids- safer than a knife (no sharp edge) and less damaging on plastic/finecast than a file.

GW bashing aside.

Could this not be for, you know, the younger gamer?

The ones that GW are apparently targeting.

Better to hold one of these than use a scalpel.

Also, some files can be exceedingly sharp. That wee round one that GW make is a bugger, for example.

I bought it when it came out simply because I wanted the mold line scraper, but I haven't ever used it so it was probably a waste of money (and I have no idea how good at the job it actually is, and I fully expect to still need to bust out a knife anyway). If I were anyone else I'd just look online for a mold line scraper, it would probably be cheaper anyway.

I picked up the set when it came out. The scraper is good but too big to fit in a lot of areas. I bought it because i was curious but for those with less discretionary income other tools easily fit the bill as already mentioned. The brush is actually stiffer bristles than a paint brush and removes a lot of the flash on its own. Quite handy actually, but again its too big in my opinion.

That actually makes a lot of sense.....all their other tools are "16+", so when you try to target 12 and 13 year olds, maybe you should come up with something like that scraper......

One thing to consider with a lot of "GW stuff is overpriced" is that sometimes people are just paying for convenience. Yes they can get their models, then drive over to the Hobby Lobby to pick up paints and tools. Or they could just get everything they need in one spot.

Pretty much everything at Walgreens is overpriced. But they are still in business, because sometimes it is just more convenient to pick up stuff while you are already there.

I am sure that some people just don't know that GW brand tools are not made of awesomesauce. But I am also sure that there are parents who would rather spend $20 more bucks if that means they do not have to drive little Bobbie around town to another store.

I have bought all of my tools here for years. Never disappointed with a product, or the price, yet.

They have EVERYTHING I have ever needed and a few things I never imagined existed. They are fast, cheap and have a huge selection. What more can you ask for?

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.
