I work for Royal Mail and i had to deliver 3 books along my route, one was to a friend! I was going to play a joke on him and tell him to pick it up after our offices were closed!
But couldn't be that harsh! Made sure all 3 were Hand delivered and signed for!

At least you got a tracking number. I priority shipped mine and I have only gotten the "your order has shipped" email from gw, but that was on the 26th. No tracking, no communication, and I can't even look up my order # on the website.
Unless I am missing something, is this at all normal (I haven't pre-ordered anything before.)

As I missed out on either of the special editions I shouldn't have bothered pre-ordering either. Could have picked it up today and my psyker card set with no hassles. As it is I have no idea when I'll be reading the new rules. To top that off an ebay listing I sold was posted without its massive gold stamp. Well done to the woman behind the counter for f*****g up royal mailly and getting me grief from an unhappy buyer.
What a rubbish weekend.

Same story here.
The stuff I ordered with it (added a few direct only bitz in there) turned up mid week and using the same time scale expected my CE yesterday/today.
With my recent history with Royal Mail I don't mind it being late, just so long as it arrives in one piece!

Could be worse. Just be thankfull GW still use royal mail and not someone like yodel or hermes. You will at least get your book in the end in good condition. The book i orderd from amazon last week took 4 days and was left in a dented box in a puddle in my front guarden. It was a mess and went back.
I used to moan about RM, but to be fair to them stuff almost always makes it and is always in good condition.

My postman always throws parcels over the gate. While I don't have a problem with that if it's a couple of cheap Heroclix, it means I get my stuff, I was no way going to take that risk with my Gamers Edition. I had mine delivered to the store.

Though not royal mail, I guess I could use this thread to rant a little...
Sometimes, I wonder what the f**k my postman is thinking. Every once in a while, I order from Maelstrom Games, usually for about £100. And since I'm still only in school and has no job whatsoever, that's a lot of money to me. The delivery comes in a cardboard package, and any sensible postman would take it to the office in my village due to it's size, but not this one. Nah, the only way to deliver this order must be to hang it on our fence in a plastic bag!
I'm just really worries it'll happen during the wrong time. Like if me and my family is away from home for a week. It could rain, someone could just take it. It's just... geh.
[/EndRant]

I haven't got mine yet. You guys have cheered me up though, - I went for the cheapest free shipping option.
It seems to me that the best way for preorders now is to choose free shipping and get it delivered to your local GW. Otherwise GW actively gaks up so that you get it later.

I'm sure he would understand if you spoke to him about it.
I'll do that the next time I see him delivering the mail.
Naturally, I never have since I'm generally in school when he comes... That, and you can't see the mailbox from inside of our house. It's on the other side of our hedge.
Also, what's interesting is that it doesn't happen every time. Which leads me to believe that we have a few different postmen and only one of them is the culprit.
Investigation time!

I suppose I can't really complain given that my rulebook arrived yesterday after I pre-ordered it from Wayland earlier in the week - so I was quite pleasantly surprised.
Our postman is usually quite reliable, although he doesn't often deliver until 1 or 2 in the afternoon and mysteriously enough, quite often we don't get any mail some days, when it just coincidentally happens to be raining at the same time.

Mine hasn't got here yet, didn't upgrade it as the last two preorders they've sent 1st class and they've got to me dead on time.
Seems this one hasn't worked out as well. Although I went to the local GW anyways yesterday, grabbed a skull tape measure, a couple of beanies for the boys, and a belt.
Plus a few Space Wolf pieces and Codex.
I also got a 6th book I intend on giving to a mate, in other words I've been reading this one and will give him the one that comes with my Gamers ed.

RM are ok down my way . now citylink { allways known as rhymeswithlink } are incredibly rubbish order stuff for recorded next day delivery leave instructions to leave with one of the 100+ houses nearbuy if not in .
stay in till 7pm {working nights} nothing return home next morning to discover they had atempted to deliver at 7.30pm so ring the number on the card to arange del for the next day a thursday ...wait in all day again at 4pm i ring head office only to be told that they had tried to deliver ,,strange as i was sat 10ft away from the door all day with the outer door open and the windows open and the tv on and theres no way a van can come down our road without it passing within 5ft of my front door ...so re arange del for friday ,,nothing all day same set up as the day before in all day waiting .
woman on the phone says that they had tried to deliver again and as it had been 3 times they would have to return it to there deport that was 100m away and not open sat/sunday and as the monday was a bank hols it would be colsed too . then she told me they would hold it for 3 days and then it would be returned to the sender so i assumed they ment 3 working days so tuesday morning went to collect it only to be told that it had been sent back that morning ....
so i asked them to call the driver and get him to bring it back to the depot later on that day and i would swing by and get it in the afternoon ? only to be told that wasnt possible as they use parcelforce to return any deliveries thay have !!!
so 2 days later after calling the suplyer and letting him know i had somthing coming back to him and that i needed it sent back out to me i got a phone call from him saying that the box was split open and half the stuff was missing . he said he was sorry and would replace the missing stuff but he was out of stock and would send them out as soon as he restocked ....so a week later he rings to say hes just sent it out with ups and heres the tracking number this was 5pmish on a tuesday ups deliverd it to me at 9am weds morning .....so if you get the choice never use citylink ....

Mine arrived by UPS this morning as well. In general I have no issues with deliveries. The only issue I have is every so often, and to me this makes utterly no sense, unless the driver is being a jerk. I'll hear the letterbox go, go and take a look, and its a 'your not at home slip' and they've gone. Sadly its happened three times, and not once was I able to get to the door and out before they where gone. It just seems bizarre, they are there at the door, and instead of knocking and handing off the parcel, they have obviously sat in the cab, hand written out a 'not in' slip, jogged up to the door, thrown it in and legged it back to the van to drive off. Starting to wonder if package delivery drivers are coming in 'troll' flavour these days.

On that note the Mrs had a Yodel driver knock on the door while I was out, she was feeding the baby so said signed for a package for next door unseen.
When she went to look at it there was a package that was supposed to be about 2' high squashed to about 8".
We layer found out the driver hadnt knocked next door since they had been in all day and the mutha fether just dumped it on us rather than face the music. The flower arrangement and ceramic bowl in the parcel were predictably in pieces.

Royal Mail are fething useless. I once watched a mail-man from Royal Mail walk up to my door and post a slip saying "we tried to deliver your item but you weren't home" or whatever those pathetic red slips say. The fact he didn't even try and deliver anything was insult enough, but the cherry on top was the fact the slip had no contact details, no staff number and no signature. F'd in the A! It then took me an hour and a half ( I s**t you not) to find the contact number. It then took me a further SIX HOURS to get through to them (around 12 phone-calls spread throughout that period, each time ringing off after about 5 minutes). I finally get an answer an hour before they're about to close that my package is indeed there. So I decide to borrow my house mates bike and ride down. I get there and ask to speak to a supervisor or a manager to which I'm absolutely troll-faced by the bloke at the counter who tells me they have no supervisors and no management staff and that complaining would be a waste of time. TL;DR: feth Royal Mail. /rantover.
