Any type. Its one that you love and your army never leaves the box without it.
For me, its a plasma cannon. Nothing better then to take out those pesky termies.
Or Assault Cannon. Especially on terminators. Hello Rending. And with the more necrons im facing, they are a godsend.

Ml. Those things are so pro on ling fangs. blast templates for hordes of things and ap 3 for marines.

Warscythes. Nothing spells "DOOM" better than those S7 AP1 Armorbane attacks.

I like the chainsword for its simple representation of carnage. A blade with sawing teeth, gnashing away at the enemies flesh, sending chunks of gore splattering everyone around. Granted, it may not be the best CC weapon out there, but it damn well fun to paint! In terms of effectiveness, I would agree with hotsauceman and say the Assault Cannon. It literally spews out lead.

My personal favourite is the Black Sword. Deadly in anyone's hands. Even more deadly with a exceptionally angry marine Knight behind it.

Tie between heavy bolter and the plasma cannon. If I really had to make the call then heavy bolter. It just looks awesome.

The Power Axe. Its big, its slow, it cleaves through Termies. It look more awesome when you make it bigger, inlike swords which look silly when massive or mauls which look more like Thunderhammers.

Close after is the Baleflamer on the Heldrake. I loved Heavy Incinerators and Flamestorm Cannons, but the higher AP on the FS won out. This is both put together. Plus, it is mounted izn the mouth of a robot demon dragon.

A tie between the humble Las Gun and the Vanquisher Cannon... The former for the silliness of what it can bring down and the latter because I just like tank-hunting tanks

In pure game efficiency terms, the psycannon. A better assault cannon that can take two full BS shots on the move on power armour. Also, being AVAILABLE to power armour troops. Rending is improved against low-AV targets in 6e and s7 makes it a potential threat to any target. It is the heart of GK infantry firepower.

Combination game efficiency and fluff, the combi-meltagun. The dual-functionality built into one gun is a great concept modern militaries enjoy and it has the capability to crack a tank or murder a T4 multiwound model or kill artificer armour while retaining the ability to annoy infantry at longer ranges.

Pure fluff, the heavy bolter on power armour. Because it looks awesome and churns out so many shells.

The Thunderhammer. Just the visual of some poor cultist being hit square in the chest and then exploding from the force is enough to make it my favorite weapon to use.

A sword with a spirit inside that destroys the mind of anyone hit by it is pretty awesome, as is a sharpened metal tube that shoots wire into a dude's insides and turns them into soup.

Assault cannon! Four str 6 ap 4 rending shots! Great against infantry and vehicles!

I love to pair assault cannons and chain fists on Terminators and give them Tank Hunter in my Black Templars army.
