As I know the like of a good War film and wargaming has a tendency to go hand in hand, I thought I'd share this for those who might be interested in voting. As far as I can see anyone can vote and you don't need to join/login into anything.
A Bridge Too Far
Kelly's Heroes
Zulu
Dr Strangelove
The Gun of Navarone
A Bridge Too Far, Kelly's Heroes and Zulu have some of my favourite scenes ever. Dr Strangelove has one of my favourite lines ever and The Guns of Navarone is just plain awesome.

Full Metal Jacket
Saving Private Ryan
Born on the Fourth of July
Platoon
I was also surprised that Das Boot wasn't a choice...

I picked:
Zulu (one of the greatest films ever)
Saving Pvt Ryan (a personal favourite)
The Great Escape (just great, a classic)
The Battle of Britain (some great air combat scenes)
A Bridge Too Far (plain awesome)
If I were able to pick more:
Kelly's Heroes (something a little outside the norm, but brilliant)
Dambusters
Bridge on the River Kwai
The Eagle Has Landed
The Longest Day
Von Ryan's Express
Ice Cold In Alex
Soo many great films.
Slightly disappointed with the lack of ACW films. What about Glory, Gods and Generals, or Gettysburg?

DownFall
Thin Red Line
Full Metal jacket
Zulu (obviously)
Lastly warhorse. I know but that movie really showed a lot of people WW1 in a different light. rather than straight trenches people actually saw it gradually develop into trenches and so on. The story itself, not great. But the settings and secondary stories really put it above the other choices for me.
If they had letters of Iwo Jima I would have picked that over warhorse though.

Also missing is U-571. The incredibly true, extensively researched and historically accurate account of an American submarine capturing a Kraut submarine with an intact enigma machine.
Deleted scenes include the same captured submarine tirelessly defending the skies of Britian from the tenth of July to Halloween 1940, torpedoing the Fuhrerbunker in Berlinon April 30 1945 and dropping the Big Ones on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Totally happened.

Sadly I haven't seen a few of the films on that list. Luckily some of those might be picked for screening, though I may give the secondhand DvD shop a look see (Hell in the Pacific looks interesting). So based on that, and Channel 5 not wanting to license films that Joe Normal's apparently never heard of (how many of those aren't in English? Channel 4'd fork out for subtitles), here's mine:
Gallipoli
Cross of Iron
Bridge on the River Kwai (Oi, where's To End All Wars?)
A Bridge Too Far
Kelly's Heroes
Yeah, Carry On Up The Khyber would have made my list if it was up there.
Ah also, just how many of those films feature Michael Caine?

I've stayed up to 5:30 on a class night (morning) just to re-watch A Bridge Too Far. Yeah, it holds up. Pity about my total inability to speak Dutch though.

Das Boot not on the list? And it was an Oscar winner as well..
One of my favourite films of all time, not just within the war film category.
You all realise that the list and indeed winners will be limited to whatever Channel 5 has rights to show....
My list;
Ice cold in Alex (I'm literally pining for that Carlsberg at the end....could be a problem?)
The Longest Day
Battle of the Bulge
Zulu/Zulu Dawn (must be seen together)
El Cid (WHYYYY? WHYYYYY? You had to do it you damn dirty Moors! - I may be mixed up on this one? )

They omitted some of the very best movies ever made, but from the list; I voted for: A Bridge too Far (overall good movie, and I love movies with a dramatic ending ) Schindler's List (this movie speaks for itself) Dr. Strangelove (Mein Führer! I can walk!)
I didn't like or didn't watch any others on the list. My favourite war movie of all time would be a Russian movie called Fortress of War (The Russian name is Brestkaya Krepost'). It is one of the few movies that ever made me cry. If you ever want to see a good movie about the horrible beginning of World War 2 for the Soviet Union, you should see it; you can find it on Youtube with English subs (altough low-quality). edit: Found a trailer:

So no Glory or Gettysberg? How about Battleground, the War Lover, Prokchop Hill or In Harm's Way?
-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Yes, yes it is. I get annoyed by people calling it Holland.
