So, even though you kill innocent people in this game, people are getting offended and BAAAAAWW-ing over it, while most of them play (or have played) Postal, GTA and other such games where you can do the exact same thing, and(almost) no one raised a voice. Hypocrisy anyone? Or is it just me, who HATES(no pun intended ) this era of political correctness in video games, and where no one can ever be offended by anything? The slap to this attitude this game gives is the reason i am buying it day 1, even if it turns out to be utter garbage

Fist thing I thought of when I saw hatred is isn't this kind of dated. I mean the concept looks like it was ripped right out of the 90s.

It looks like a remake of the first Postal game, back when it was a isometric sort of thing.

Wouldn't buy it, but don't particularly object to it being made I suppose.

I wouldn't want impressionable kids playing it or anything, but if an adult wants to, oh well?

Yeah, but supposedly they only attack if you open fire.
If there's a non-lethal mode (or passive aggressive option) I might be more interested though.
Like, you go to the store, and glare at the clerk for a prolonged period of time while he packs your groceries, stuff like that.

Honestly, seems like a cheap shock game to me. Like "OOH WE'RE KILLING CIVILLIANS, WE'RE SO EDGY!!" Same as those 18 year olds who go get tattoos cuz feth mom and dad.
I won't get it because it's not even crass for the sake of raising a valid point or even interesting, its crass for the sake of being crass.

I'm sure the finished product will be more polished and elaborate. You know, the victim part will come out more. Ghastly childhood, or perhaps he lives next door to gay people. And then there will be a martyr scene where he is gunned down by black SWAT members. Should be a classic.

Games are very comfortable with violence I swear it's just quaint to see this old hat brought out. Like you said, it's not very impact full.

I mean if you want to actually be edgy, try doing something new. Maybe bring out the emotions.

It's a political game that pretends not to be a political game and does so very badly.

I don't want it to be censored, but I'd be happier if it didn't exist, or at least crashed and burned financially. It looks like a gakky game where you play a whiny failure of a man. Characters like The Boss from Saints Row 2 or Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2 are evil, but they are an interesting sort of evil: they have goals of impressive scope, they have people they regard as friends or loved ones (sometimes in a dysfunctional way), things like that. This guy's just a sore loser like Rodger Elliot.

How do you know they played Postal?
Anyhow, I have seen that already. But you are not explaining why this hypocrisy. Obviously, when people are hypocrites, they just do not want to show their real reasons for disliking something or liking something else. Here, why do you believe those people raised a voice against Hatred but not against Postal?

No, I disagree. This games looks like a very good business decision. Banking on GamerGaters that are desperate to fight against “SJW” and “political correctness”. I mean, there is an illustration of this behavior right there in the original message of the thread. “I do not care if the game is fun or if it sucks because I am against political correctness”. This was just genius from Destructive.

I think that the political correctness argument is a pretty solid one. It's the reason why I love Postal 2. It's just different and refreshing to see a game that does not care about the super strong and oversensitive focus on political correctness we currently have. Granted, Postal 2 did this in a superb way by offending pretty much everyone and everything with overblown gore and blackerthanblack humor and Hatred will be a pretty terrible game. But sometimes, just being not-correct is enough to justify a game's place and it's a nice break of pace. Like a game you play for 30 minutes and realize it's god-awful. So awful that your own DEVELOPER retcons its existence. Looking at you, Postal 3.

Enforced PC is a strong negative impact factor on games and freedom of expression / art and completely breaking with it sometimes just does the market right. It helps, though, if the game behind it is good too. Another Postal 2 nowadays would be pure quality gold. Hatred will most likely fall short, though, as it seems to be all about "LOL I JUST PUT A GUN IN THAT MOUTH". But I'll give it a try.

Having offensive things in video games isn't an issue (sometimes it's a bit sad really) the issue is that it seems the only reason this game exists is to be offensive, which is a terrible reason to make anything.

It's like salt. You add a bit to make the product taste good, but if you add too much, it gets unhealthy.

Ok. If I follow that analogy, you don't have an issue with the general idea of PC, you have issue with the strictness or amount. So it comes down to disagreement what should be the right setting.

I do agree with him though, at the end of the day the whole idea of PC is a nice one, but it all ends up going too far and it gets crazy, to be honest Sig might be somewhat er.. right of center, but I reckon the vast majority of people have complained about political correctness at some point. Im extremely liberal socially, but it grinds my gears when things get so fething stupid you cant say something that 99% of people do not find even remotely offensive, I personally liked his analogy if only because I feel really sorry for very old people that occasionally say something a little tasteless and then get treated like animals despite the fact they have never committed a hate crime or joined the KKK.

As to the game, it looks really fething lame. I suppose I might have enjoyed it for twenty minutes two decades ago, but a game that is essentially the first ever GTA with no real "quests" is never going to be a good one. I played Postal for about 5 minutes back when I was a kid and I thought that was dumb too.

Basically I prefer strategy games and RPGs because they require thought. If I do play a shooter, I like plots and subtlety and intrigue and twists, gak like Mass Effect 3, not a button basher like this gak.

Precisely. PC is important, but it must not ever yield to an oppression of freedom of expression which is sadly has quite a few times recently. Instrumentalizing PC to push your own agenda is bad, bad, bad.
