Okay, hate me all you want. Or not. Either way, I need some assistance.

The basic rundown of what's going on: my local gaming group is hosting a "conversion contest" and we are allowed to use any miniatures at our disposal to create armies from 1000 points and up.

Me? I've chosen ponies.

What I've come up with:

I want to make the first 1000 points and then build from there. I want to use Twilight Sparkle as my Librarian (I'm thinking as a Tigurius proxy). I'm also thinking of using the Harlequin Formation Heroes' Path with Pinkie and a few others.

What would be a good build for 1000 points featuring those two? Focusing on infantry heavy in order to feature the conversions more. Tanks are doable. Not so much centurions or dreadnoughts.

Don't do it. I once fielded, as a joke, a single well converted empire captain riding a Pegasus. People flipped their gak. Dont. It will get you a lot of hatred, and down the line when you no longer care, you will wanna restrip.

I'm talking about painting these up as Marines. Not painting my marines in their colors. But I understand what you're saying. The contest is about our skill at conversions and painting, not so much what we field.

Why not choose Lego miniatures?

There are horses, as well as humans! Also, dragons, crocodiles, and even wizards.

Seriously- if you can ask yourself, "Is my paint scheme/army theme less goofy than Rowboat Girlyman and the Smurf Patrol," and you say no, you're doing fine. If someone gives you gak, make fun of Rowboat Girlyman or whatever.

Use current Carcharodon rules, and just give them a chainsword up their pretensious ass. Play for yourself.

Feel like I should leave these here for all you naysayers...

I know a guy who has a Stormtalon with a a rainbow-lightning bolt coming out of a cloud painted on each side, and he doesn't get more than a light ribbing for it. Anyone who gives you more trouble than that probably is a turd to be around anyway.

At this point I don't think it matters if people like ponies seriously or ironically, the culture is pretty open to people breaking away from normality, and this is a benign break from the norm. It isn't so different in concept than that guy who made a Hello Kitty Ultramarine army just because he could.

Something I think would be hilarious to see if you do this, would be a Discord as a C'tan. I believe the Necron Codex has the C'tan Shard in its own formation. You might also make some unicorns into Necron Destroyers.

Seriously, just because we pay big boy money for them and have complicated rules doesn't make it more mature than MLP. Anyone that gives you grief about it is in serious denial about themselves.

I just want to see what kind of force I could make with Tigurius and the Heroes' Path within 1000 points. Mainly because it's a low-point to play game and these pony miniatures don't come in too many variations

I'm just warning you, from a former brony to a current one, you will catch a lot of flak. People don't like joke armies.

Go for it, I'm a brony and a wargamer and war hammer is defiantly the more embarrassing tag!

Most of the hate comes from the teenaged demographic in wargaming, many of whom have yet to grow up and gain some perspective.

Get some space marine bikers and have them ride the ponies. I once did a chaos army like that and used the legs from chaos knights and put them on unicorns and stuff. Just don't play hard looking men with the army. Fists will fly.

My opinion; lots of gore. There's something about the juxtaposition of pastel ponies wielding blood spattered chain weapons that always makes me smile.

Especially on the days I forget my meds.

perhaps it was yours but i saw a light up captain on a pony and it was pure gold.

It is. And it was good fun fielding it to rage my friends. But they never cared Really.
But, they are not the reason I left bronydom, boredom was. I got bored with it, among some other incidents I can't discuss.

Aaaaand remember, people : woman-like bad, man-like good!

I've seen a few pony/biker marines in my time. Make interesting bike counts as.

Twilight Sparkle could be a level two Libby on a bike. Take telekinesis, clearly. Or telepathy because telepathy is op.

Those toys won't fit on a 25mm or 32mm base, but fit well on the bike bases.

Could always put your green stuff fu to the test and make little power armour for the ponies, too.

Good luck with it I say, sounds like a fun project. Whilst it wouldnt be my cup of tea aesthetically ignore the haters, their angst says more about their sad issues than your project.

We have a dakka user who has done a lot of mods with those.
