Alright ladies and gentlemen, here it is, by request. a poll for the absolute WORST resculpt put out by GW in 8th edition of a special character. did Ghaz's new sculpt make you want to declare a Waagh on GW? Did Abaddon's sculpt despoil the despoiler? Does Shrike make you want to Shriek? vote now!

Typhus.

The old sculpt looked intimidating, and relentless. The new model is very busy with extraneous detail, and the pose (which is very difficult to alter) is really awful. It's sad the the Lord of Contagion makes a better Typhus than the actual model.

Don't get the hate for Shrike; emo character for emo chapter, perfect fit.

as I commented on the "best of" thread, I think the problem is shrike is too big a change, so you get sort of a "that's not ma shrike!" reaction

Calgar for me. The old one in Terminator armour looked badass. The new one is okay, but the pose with the raised fist is just too weird. Typhus is a close second.

Makes sense.

The Drazhar resculpt is a bit boring, and has a ridiculous scenic base. Didn't get my vote though, as I think the old model looked pretty bad.

Agree on most counts, though he isn’t really that hard to repose. Just a few cuts to the limbs here and there.

Typhus clearly. The old one is one of my favourite models in all of 40K. The new one is just ridiculous. But I admit, it's mostly the pose, I've seen awesome conversions. But I won't buy a model for 30+ € that I have to rebuild to make it look like the old metal one I already have.

Got to be Shrike for me, the most egregious example of the absurd scenic base!

I would’ve gone for Drazhar since his model looks very boring compared to his Lictor-esque metal miniature.

But the I remember that the Masque of Slaanesh got a redesign. The new one looks worse from every standpoint compared to her older model. It doesn’t even look like a GW quality sculpt.

Really? There were no Primaris bikes yet and it doens't make the sculpt bad.

I came wading in here ready to put the boot into Bobby G, having completely forgotten he came out at the tail end of 7th. There's nothing on this list quite as dreadful as that, but Typhus is probably the worst of the bunch. That said, I just really don't care for the Primaris aesthetic at all, so I'm not really keen on a huge swathe of these.

Cheers! Going in I thought it would be difficult but all it requires is carefully removing the Nurgling from his right leg then you can repose the legs dead easy as he’s slightly tilting backwards in his stock pose.

Have to admit, Typhus passed me by, possibly because my DG opponent still (wisely) uses the old model. Got to be Shrike for me here though. The emo look is annoying as hell but easy enough to fix but the model's also really busy with claws and grenade launchers everywhere and the scenic base is just ludicrous, especially for a stealthy assassin-type.

Shrike mainly because it's actually such wasted potential. You have these big improvements in model sculpting that allow for more dynamic poses than ever before, especially with plastic minis, and he gets something that's incredibly static and boring. I'm totally ignoring the giant rock because that can be changed or removed or lessened, but you'd have your work cut out trying to improve his pose to make it anywhere near as thematic as his old one.

Calgar. I consider primaris dudes the ugliest models in 40k, and the ultramarine hero is one of the worst looking among them.

That’s fair. It’s not my favorite pose either. I think the old one with his arm fully up looks more active. Like he’s signaling to the army behind him, or throwing it up there in victory or challenge (or about to start an overhead smash). The new one with the bent arm seems more passive. He’s shooting with one arm, but the one up in the air just looks like he pointed it up to get it out of the way or something. The whole model feels less dynamic then the old guy.

I don’t actually have a copy of the TDA Calgar, but it is a quite nice sculpt.

It's the pose in comparison to the old one. The old model looks like he's slowly, relentlessly, coming to destroy you. The new one is just another hero pose.

Shrike is the worst though. He looks like he came out of a 90s comic book. Too much extra crap, and that hair, good grief.

It is an excellent sculpt but a gak pose. Before I converted the one above, which I got as a gift I already had two other Typhus conversions which suited me fine (one made from Heresy’s fallen Boris and the other from Lord Felthius. The latter being solely built for use in games in my local GW), but I was determined to see if you could get a good pose out of him.

I think the Mask closely beat Ragnar for me.

Outside of that, I like almost all of the new models. I think the marines all fit their respective chapter really well.

Huh. I thought the old one to be a bit bland for the herald of nurgle. The new pose kind of feels like a Typhus would step up on a hill, seemingly facing the enemy alone, raise his Manreaper as a signal and then hordes of poxwalkers would come charging past him left and right, with him being the stoic center of the undead horde.

Another vote for Typhus. As has been already voiced numerous times, too busy and the pose doesn't do it for me (yet I pretty much equally dislike the modern Deathguard stuff, so take that with a grain of salt. I personally really liked the old models, but more power to you if you like them!)
Coming as close second is Shrike for me, less so for the pose or the base (even though they need some getting used to). For me, it is the combination of reiver armor (especially the cycling shorts-like legs!) and the new power claws.
