Whether you give it to a friend, sell it off on ebay, melt it down into a horrible pile of acrylic and plastic in your oven (don't recommend), at what point do you decide to let go of a project or collection that you haven't finished yet?

I never get rid of anything. Never know when you might want to go back and update or fiddle with something.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

You didn't have Squatted as an option so I'd choose that one if available.

But otherwise I would never get rid of anything and I've regretted selling my Squats when I did for a while now.

For me, it has to be a combination of losing interest in that army and running out of space. Even then, it's still hard for me to let go of stuff I've painted. (Or stuff in general; being a pack rat is a family trait.)

Ive regretted selling painted minatures/collection.

Plastic/ metal can be replaced. (maybe with difficulty if its rare AF OOp gak) But there is never replacing an army or a model you painstakingly painted.

Very rarely.

I sold a bunch of my stuff about 10 years ago for money reasons, but much of that has since been replaced and then some. The only thing I really regret getting rid of are my Necrons. The other 'personal' collection that was all painted ro my personal tabletop standard was my marines, but I was planning on replacing them with a new scheme.

I sold many painted army’s but almost always regret it. I usually sell when I get to thinking how expensive all these rules are gonna be for all the army’s I have every couple years when Gw decides to re print books/supplements.

I like to try to keep it to one army but when I get it down to one I want more and the collecting cycle starts again.

I have sold armies I lost interest in. I painted them to my best standard, and made a profit that allowed me to repeat with another army. Fortunately, I haven't regretted it as the army(s) I've sold haven't regained my interest.

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

Nope.

When WM/H hit third I tried to get rid of some stuff, largely failed, regretted what I did sell. Even though I've no real interest in the game anymore.

Truthfully I don't think selling would cover the original costs _or_ the time & money I'd spend organizing, prepping, pictures, packing and shipping stuff. Can't be bothered.

When I lose interest in that army. I sell it so I can apply the funds to whatever army I am interested in now.

The only that hasn't applied to is Warmachine Mercs, but that's because they are so hard to sell.

Voted I never get rid of anything. Need to add an asterisk for the exceptional situation of when the wife tells you it's time.

Two years ago, I had 3 closets filled with miniatures. About a sixth were ones I painted, the rest were armies I bought off people at heavy discounts.

Wife decided space was needed for scented candles and her shoe collection. Had to pair it down dramatically, sold off a lot of memories over the span of a couple years.

Pretty much only when I am completely, 100%, never going to play the game again, and have no other uses for it, done with it.

And maybe not even then. There's been a few things that've lingered on in the book shelves/storage unit years & years past the point of my being absolutely finished with them. Eventually though, when I need the space, they get culled.

This has never happened with a GW game.
The closest would be when GW updates a model such that I like it magnitudes more than its predecessor. Then I will pass along the old model/unit to a new player for some astoundingly low price.

I only have one army that I started 15 years ago with several long breaks. I like to keep my collection at between 4k and 5k points and can fit in a large bag. Only sell models when I want to replace them or know I'll probably never use them again

I can't believe I forgot to add the 'run out of space' option, because that tends to be what happens to me.

At this point I'm looking at a couple things that I want to get rid of... And most of it is for space.

But there's also a 'mental space' aspect to it for me. The more junk I have, the harder it is for me to concentrate on the other junk I have.

No would buy my army localy and I don't have a bank or paypal account to make selling online possible. I doubt I will ever get rid of my army.

When we moved, I sold a bunch of superfluous stuff I was never gonna use again.

Other than that, a couple of times I needed to cull for space reasons.

I prefer 'upcycling' my dudes. I'm enjoying playing warcry so I've 'upcycled' my than bloodtrackers as plains runners and am working on upcycling my male tharn (ravagers, whitemanes and blood pack) for it as well. Have a whole bunch of plastic and metals. Problem is the plastic quality is rubbish and the metal poses are old and kind of terrible, so its a case of combining the working bits to make something better. I suspect I'll end up with a model count of about 50% of my starting numbers and the rest of the bits will be binned.

It's basically about how the thing makes me feel when I look at it. If it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, it stays. If it doesn't, it lands on my suspect list. Thigs that have been on my suspect list for a couple of months need to go. It's a great practice to continually fund new projects and free up shelf space.

I sold my first ork army back during 2nd edition when I had moved on to other armies... And I've regretted it ever since. So these days, I don't get rid of anything.

I placed other. As I mostly don't get rid of loved armies. I have started some forces and decided better of it after a bit of time.

Such as I had Tomb Kings for fantasy, liked the newest release but figured I'd never get to building them up really so I flipped them, luckily before they faced the final death.

I got a good collection for a pretty good price of Grey Knights and didn't need much to buff them out but I decided to flip them as I figured I didn't need another marine army. Which I'm also happy for as it saved me money and time.

Mostly just get rid of something if you got it in error or something that was a good idea turns out to be less than that.

Otherwise I rarely get rid of anything but I suppose the same could happen if you really needed the cash. Would take a lot to get rid of my most loved forces though.

When i have to much stuff, or i am gifting a new player stuff to get them into the game.

Sold off my old nid army made for my wife because she stopped playing and i hardly played it, same with my sisters and most of my original deathwing and tau. gifted some BFG, DUST and other armies to other players.

Still have a room full of stuff, so it hasn't hurt me any.

Are those GK painted?

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
