Here's what I have in my wardrobe. Also I invite you to add your own pics to this thread.
I have some rare bits and pieces. I used to have a load of books too but I sold many of them and kept only the best (which weren't the rare ones, for the most part). I'll probably show my favourites of those too.

I admire your dedication to necromunda. I dont have anything to share like that, since I tossed everything into a 55 gallon garbage bag in 2013 and dropped it off at the LFGS and let the customers just pour through it all dumped on a huge table. It was just taking over my life and space. It had to go.
I'm only allowing myself limited lifestyle games now. Full bore into Warcry, and a couple warbands for Necromunda. And I also have many teams for Blitz Bowl (basically Blood Bowl Lite) that I plan on owning all teams for. I must admit I do have some sisters stuff, but thats because I am a very old school sisters player and had to own a normal squad for them. I think they will be used as enforcers stand in for necromunda.
And even though I downplay it by "only" allowing myself those choices, the amount of boxes would rival what you have displayed. it's not a brag, its actually bringing reality to my rationalization. Warcry is kinda expansive if you let it be.
I envy your dark rising box. I should have grabbed it when I had the opportunity to. :/ I love everything about necromunda. I just wished I loved the rules as much as the models and setting.

Great stuff. Those sets of renegade are pure gold. I was hoping with the new knights codexes that are coming round, they remake renegade with the new kits.
It's sad to say will will still pick up a lot of the new army deal boxes.
I will not feel bad due to the price rises. What ever you pay now. It will be more in a few years. Hence nor a bad financial decision. Automatically Appended Next Post: I will add mine later when I get home. Pisses me off the hoops you have to jump through to add pictures.

That’s an impressive hoard. Even more impressive when I mentally convert each of those boxes into two DFC fleet boxes or 5ish Wargames Atlantic boxes.

I just saw your Black Templar Banner lad in your Dakka Gallery JWBS.... I think your painting quality is so insanely high that your backlog became absurd. Do you bounce from projects that much?
I had to take a step back focus on finishing everything to a tabletop quality
I probably have 450~ minis left in my backlog (about 3 armies for 40k and 1/3 of that is D&D) which I'll paint over the next 2-3 years.

Of all the GW boxes I've bought I gotta say that Renegade, Precept maniple and Dark Uprising are my favourites. I bought two Precept maniples and now I regret not buying more, the value was insane, same as with Renegade (two Knights, plus a terrain set, all for a price that was significantly lower than two Knights alone), but Precept was possibly even more value iirc. But yes, Dark Uprising was the best of the lot. You can see from the pic that Dark Uprising is the largest one, it is a hefty box with tons of the best SF terrain that GW make ( imo), I wasn't super keen on it at first but when I saw the sprues I was very impressed. It's a real shame it was discontinued, probably due to the high price and the fact that most people prefer minis over terrain. I'd buy two more tomorrow if I could. That BT bannerman isn't mine! in fact 95% of the pics in my gallery are from different people. I am a good painter, I started painting when I was like 6 years old, but I stopped taking pics to show my stuff on the internet when cmon died (back when cameras were 2 megapixels), idk why, something about the cmon system with building up a catalogue and having it reviewed by your peers was something I enjoyed, but when people stopped doing that I somehow lost the urge to show off my efforts. I can add some pics of my own stuff if you want. I stopped painting for 10+ years and started again when GW started making Primaris, since SM were always my favourites and I got inspired to pick up my brush again, and I found that I hadn't lost the knack (like riding a bike I suppose) Also cameras are good now so I imagine it's less stressful to capture paintjobs in their best light. Maybe I should make a gallery here on Dakka.

I don't have a huge lot of untouched boxes here, I usually go through stuff at a decent pace so there's not a lot on unbuild stuff here.
I prefer to build it and play with grey minis for a while than have it untouched and unplayed with!
I have whole grey armies though, I can't paint fast enough!
|
Fantasy armies - Retired (Tomb Kings, Vampires, Empire, Chaos Warriors/Daemons, Dark Elves)
Tyranids army - Ever evolving, but about 10k pts
Custodes - 3,500pts (Fully painted yay!)
Thousand Sons - 4,000 pts
Eldar - 3,000pts |

Been driving mine down hard since the pandemic. I’m basically down to this shelf, though it should be said that renegade box has far more than a couple knights in it and the boxes on top each have a good sized project to clear.

In my pic? No, I didn't buy any of those (I did buy a few of the second edition ones though, with the Reavers, I think that's a good value set). Those titanicus boxes are Civitas Imperialis iirc.
@Stevefamine - yeah good call. I think I'll probably do that, it does seem to be the main place for the painting community these days. One thing I'm not too keen on is the chat, I much prefer forum style layout for conversations so I don't ever read the discussion on insta. As far as pics go though, there's a heap of great accounts to follow.

Well this excercise is certainly making me feel a bit better.
The backlog is currently housed in 2 closets (though with some painted stuff in there as well). Not much in boxes I'm afraid.
Some of those model kits on the bottom shelf have been following me since the early 2000s, my grandkids may end up getting them.

I don't have a legal Will, but I'm gonna jot down a signed declaration that my Nephew is to inherit my £1000s collection of overpriced, untouched plastic sprues of toy soldiers, and he in turn is obliged to bequeath them to the proceeding male in our genetic line. Who knows, in 2120 they may actually be something of value, worth preserving!

I have expressed to my family that my wake requires people to play the wargames I have written with the models I have painted with the terrain I have made to properly remember and celebrate my life and passing.

To have so many boxes, and none of it assembled, let alone painted?
How can you live with yourself?
I don't think I'd have bought that many boxes of gaming stuff over the 30+ years I've been in gaming.

Are those empty boxes of already finished models? Or is it just a good old pile of shame?
I'm asking since I never keep the empty boxes, I always trash them, and my pile of shame consists in assembled models.

Thank you for the photos I can use as "You think I'm bad. Look at these..." distraction ploys every time the Long Haired Admiral gets huffy as another box arrives.
I must admit, one such photograph from a couple of years ago did vex me greatly when a collector had something like 10 - 15 unopened Praetorian Imperial Guard platoon boxes. I was just thinking of the absolute waste and the denied opportunity for others to enjoy the pith helmet goodness.

This is something for another thread I think but I have recently given some thought to what happens to your collection after you die There must be a fair few hobbyists from the 80s/90s who have subsequently passed on and what of their collections? Gone in the bin, sold, retained as family heirlooms?
