In fact not, but my stepdaughter was into gzsz for a couple of years, so I unwillingly had glimpse of it every now and then. Soaps are not my cup of tea, but nowadays the tv is full of much worse crap, so whoever likes that kind of show could have done worse.

Did you know that Gerner is the name of the evil lawyer in the longest running and most popular german daily soap "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten"? I guess you didn't, but even though I don't give a rat's ass about the show it's been around for so long every german will associate your name with Jo Gerner. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo_Gerner Sorry mate!

Ahahaha I didn't know. Gerner is my lastname, but I was pretty sure it had swedish roots and wasn't German. But I guess I just got turned into a German soap lawyer. :(

Update:
  • Little to report on the painting side of things, I haven't been in quite the right mood lately.

  • Had a day off today and spent a good portion of it building the base for my newest creation, working title "Adrob". (Yet another new project, but I won't forget about all the others. So no worries, they are still in the pipeline. But I need to go where the muse takes me first.)

  • So Adrob is coming along nicely, I've found all the right parts and just need to glue him together. I think there will be very little gs work, so I hope it will be quick and straight forward. On the other hand I always think that before really doing it and my plans for converting Adrob's gun are already quit complex, so at least that part will definitely take its time.

  • Sorry, I know I'm being cryptic again, but if you're a loyal follower you might have noticed the hints to what I'm going to do. The working title being the latest clue.... There will be a preview soon and I plan to keep the building process short, so final pictures shouldn't be too far away either.

Spent most of my time rearranging the attic today, so I had less time to construct the base for Adrokk. I'm close to the solution now though. I should be able to finish the base before the weekend and post pictures.

  • A little preview of Adrokk's base, still under heavy construction, but you'll get the rough idea.

  • It all started with the search for an object Adrokk could be taking cover/hiding behind and I chose this former specimen tank. In the picture you can see the base I originally intended to convert for him, but with all the ideas popping up in my head it quickly didn't provide enough space any more, so I swapped it for a tiled cod element.

  • After a long long search for the right style and shape of walls to set the frame for my little out of order Hivecom-booth I finally found two elements that could be converted to do what I want. To avoid making the final outcome look like a piece of scenery, I'll keep the backside of the scene smooth and black, so the other sides of the panels had to go away. I didn't want to let them go to waste by filing them down though, so I resolved to some delicate sawing, which worked out well.

  • The admech panel couldn't be saved without endangering the side that I actually wanted to use, so I just tried to keep the damage to a minimum. I think the result looks kinda cool and I'll turn it into a totally corroded paperthin wall in some future project.

  • It's just a mock up, but the rough setup will look like this, with a lot of details added to create a worn down and rotten, but formerly civilized environment, that will contrast nicely with the actual model. (Which I can't believe nobody guessed yet...)

Hehe, a clawed fiend couldn't hide in the booth, plus my plans are a little more exotic.
About the size, like I said it's just a mock up. I think I'll limit the size to the floor tiles and cut off those parts of the walls that stand out now. But you're right it'll still be big, but that's ok I want a real scene here, it's a show piece not primarily meant for playing. (I like big bases and I cannot lie those other brothers may...) Just in case Adrokk should ever see a surface of a gaming table, I magnetized the floor of the booth to work as a small, roughly circular base and I can paint miniature and base seperately.

What a day, didn't have to work apart from giving a martial arts class in the evening, but I still didn't get to do anything directly hobby related. Instead my back hurts from carrying a truckload of old crap from the attic downstairs, enough furniture to equip a whole flat with. Once I get rid of it tomorrow I'll have to reestablish a working order in my new workshop layout, which will take a while, but will ultimately reward me with a massively improved workstation. Four times more easily accessible shelf space and three times more drawers in arms reach, yay. But that will take me a couple of days...

Oh er the tank is from the Anphelion base. Hhm, is that out of print? It's not in the online shop anymore...

No need to apologize Peter, cute baby clawed fiends can never be out of place. Besides I'd consider that on topic, can't start a guessing game and be mad if people have fun, me too btw.

But again it's not a clawed fiend, no matter at what age.

It's also not a Jokaero. There cannot be enough space monkeys, but in this case it's not what I'm going for.

Ok, seems like my clues were insufficient:
    first clue: hairy
    second clue: the name, Adrokk
third clue: Adrokk will eventually have two companions (who get their own bases), so they'll be triple trouble

Hairy? Adrokk? Can't wait to see these mysterious, almost beastly boys progress.
The setting looks great so far like some sort of intergalactic laboratory all that's missing is a nervous assistant.
You said you were going to keep the conversion work simple but judging from your previous creations you'll end up making these 3 the hard way.

@Rabies: You got two out of three. Yes, I'll create a "beastly" 40k version of MCA, Mike D and Ad-Rock. No it's not a laboratory, but I can't blame you for thinking it is, since I'm not done yet. It will be something like a broken com-booth at a shady corner in the worst part of hive city. And yes, nothing is ever simple once I get my mitts on it.

    London.

To be honest the laboratory thing was just so I could get in the "intergalactic" and "nervous assistant" references same with "3 the hard way" all Beastie Boys hints, although you do tend to take a simple weapon swap and end up with a mastercrafted scratch built masterpiece.
But as far as the actual models go it's still not completely clear what you have in mind, which is a good thing because I love these guessing games.

So what could be lurking around this booth, a beastman, mutant, werewolf or tracksuit wearing b-boy with a VW sign hanging 'round his neck?

Time for new goodies! The mailman brought my resin weapons from Hits' new online shop and a box of hobby stuff from Battlefield Berlin. Vallejo Pumice, a new Series 7, a set of 16 metallic model air colors, pro create putty, one protectorate of menoth guy I had an eye on, and so on. I'll have tested everything until tomorrow.
Also tomorrow is my day off and I'm going to make some progress, so expect news tomorrow night.

I'd use a bigger needle in your AB (if you have one) for those metallics, they are a bit more chunky than the regular Vallejo Air paints but they look awesome. For the last building, I used the Metallic Rust over the Doc O'Brien's red rust weathering powder (on the bulkheads) .

Problem is, it looks more realistic than the rest of my paintjob!
