Tempus fugit! It's terrible...
Anyway just to prevent people from thinking I'm dead or lazy, a small update:
Video games ruined my life! Good thing I have two extra lifes... Not exactly but Skyrim followed by Mass Effect 3 are doing their parts to keep me from being very productive in my free time.
So no progress painting-wise, apart from some tests with a new special effect I've fallen in love with. You'll see once I finished the standard bearer for the Lionhearts.
Absolutely no progress on the conversions either, because after rearranging the furniture and clearing up the attic, I had to take the chance and do some spring cleaning.
So any time spent in the workshop was time spent cleaning shelves and rearranging bits, kits and tools.
Actually I haven't touched the tools yet, but the rest is almost in order now.
Proof:
I've expanded my bitsbox for small non-kit-non-race-related bits from two to four organizers and I might have to get more soon, but for now they hold most of the stuff they are supposed to. So here you find heads, (handguns), pouches, cables, purity seals and so on. The one at the front is the exception it is for vehicle based bits only, I was sick and tired of that big ol' box with all the machine bits in it. It was annoying to find what you're looking for and whenever plastic, white metal and resin parts are in one box I'm concerned about damaging the delicate parts.
Apart from the organizers I also rearranged my desk and the furniture around it. So apart from clearing the desktop from all the stuff I had stored there, the new setup provides 20 easily accessible drawers and my kit shelves right behind me in arms reach.
Which you can see here. The left shelf holds my kit or race based bits/sprue boxes. The one on the right (of which you cannot see the top levelsin the photo) holds some of the random kits (some are still in another cabinet) and some project boxes.
I haven't decided what to do with my army related kits yet. I think I'll leave them in the moving boxes, which is annoying when I want to loot one of the kits that belongs to one of former armies, but it would just clog up my workstation.

On video games:
I'm passionate/obsessive with everything I like (to do). And video games have a huge potential to make me addicted, that's why my solution always was to strictly stay away from games that cannot be "completed". A game may be time consuming and I might spend a stupid amount of time on it, but sooner or later I'm back to normal.
I got talked into making one exception, that was World of Warcraft back when it was new. I knew it was wrong, because it's endless, but a friend persuaded me. The result was a serious addiction that took me more than three years to get rid of. During that time I dropped the miniature hobby completely and that speaks volumes about how addictive games can be, otherwise I never could have lived without a creative outlet for such a long time.
I still got a sweetspot for games, but that's alright as long as I avoid MMOs, which I do. Diablo 3 might turn into a problem though...
@Peter: I'll make it happen, but first things first. Once my workstation is re-established, I'll get back to my various conversions.

I'm exactly the same mate...I got into WOW a few years back I was staying up all night tweeking things, mining ore or collecting things and would be so tired I'd be late for work next day, and not want to go out and see friends etc really, really bad news...had to cancel it in the end, only played it once since then...
KOTOR Starwars MMO caught my eye lately but I know they are a complete waste of time so will try to stay away. I've also got into the bad habbit of having to '100%' everything now too...I can't just play something for fun and enjoy it. Have to do mulitple play-throughs
So different to the days of Sonic or Streets of Rage 2...hmmm actually I played those over and over alot too

Holy mother!! My workstation is ashamed to be called a 'workstation' next to yours... Lookin' good though! And yes, I agree with Peter- Nurgle Conversion... it's going to be a close call for me- I've seen JB's, Peter's, and Migs'... those names top the list, but with the work you put into your PMW model and paintjob... yea, it's gonna be a close call.
And yay for video games! I've also learned my lesson to stay away from those games that are never-ending... but my older brother works audio for videogames and frequently gets copies/discounts on games... so we have a co- op multiplayer queue growing like bamboo every year... I find games to be both entertaining and inspiring... I've entertained making a kill team based on the Mass Effect universe, a WHQ team based on Dragon Age characters... and just bought a couple of Anima Tactics minis to make Assassins' Creed Ezio for WHQ and a new Ad-Mech necro/I-gang based on Ed/Alphonse Elric of Full Metal...
But back to the action- looking forward to seeing more of your work, Baiyuan! It's been far too long!

Yeah I got lucky with the attic. The other tenant's attics are tiny 1,5x4m things and we were supposed to have two of those, because we have a double apartment, but I convinced the janitor to give me the big room at the end of the hallway instead. It's about 7x4m and I couldn't do with less room. One corner for storing household stuff, one for my weapons, one for DIY material and normal tools and one for my workstation with everything hobby related. In the middle of the room is still enough room for our necromunda board and two cabinets for terrain (once we've built it ).
The amount of bits is simply the result of being an obsessive collector since 1997.

Yeah, same here. Whenever I got home and no matter how much I had to take a leak, I would drop my jacket somewhere on my way to my computer turn it on first of all, so I wouldn't have to wait for it to boot, then pee, grab something to eat and wow hurray until (way past) bedtime. And being a guildmaster and raidleader back then I was seriously obsessed with the whole topic, not just playing the game. When I couldn't play I would read up on the latest theorycraft, calculate sweet spots for my gear, draw graphs to plan my new shot rotations, devise a new dkp system and so on. Thank god I was able to draw a line and stop playing it altogether.
I was tempted by SW:TOR too, but it's WOW with jedis... Been there, done that. Never again!

The space I can use for the hobby is a blessing. That's also thanks to my significant other, I have my own library/study/studio AND the attic for crafting.
I'm curious how my conversion will look too. PDH, JB, Migs and not to forget JRN, those are all fantastic conversions of the lord.

No worries about me buying more stuff, I can't help to do so anyway. But I have a feeling I'll get some hobby stuff for my birthday, so I won't have to buy it myself.
Separating the bits as much as I do has it's disadvantages, you cannot browse through your bits box for inspiration, which I like to do every now and then. But on the other hand it's much more convenient when your actually working with your bits box. Power weapons this box, chain weapons the other, human sized heads here, marine sized heads there...

Hehe, I do have some places for unsorted bits. The big drawer in the red storage rack holds everything that's too small to count as a real bit or to belong to any kit. Like noses, hands, faces, handles, spikes, etc.
I also have an emergency shelter for bits, that are left over from something, or new and not yet sorted.
I have an individual project box for every project I'm working on, they are not in the pictures, because I don't consider them bits boxes and there was no need to rearrange them. Considering that my projects normally take quite a long time to finish it's very important to just bring all the possible parts to one place and let the concept mature a little before deciding which way to go in the end. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and the meat tray wouldn't work for me. One wrong move and 10000 valuable bits fly around, a nightmare. That's why I love my organizers. Open, take the box with the part you want and close it again. That way you can only scatter a small percentage of your precious bits on your floor. A few hours crawling on hands and knees with a flashlight in your mouth is enough.

i think this is a very intuitive way of preparing for a project... if i start a new conversion it is mostly play with bitz at first... then foggy ideas take a shape...and might later on eventually be reshaped...

I have that system of looking for a part or piece …… then end up buying something else to do the job LOL
Thats why I have several tool boxes of parts never to be used.
Mind you you cant beat buying stuff.

The spring cleaning is almost finished!
There are still some changes to be made to my setup, but I think it's quite good already and only working with it can show me further flaws. It's a million times better then before and I never had any problems with it then. So yeah why did I do it anyway? Probably because it feels good. And because there were only a few centimeters of the big table not covered with tools, kits and minis. Now the whole table is free, all the tools are stored in a myriad drawers.
I also improved the setup on my painting table. The less regularly used old GW colors and the more frequently used new GW colors swapped places, to make painting more convenient. I got rid of the improvised solutions for storing my brushes and built me a small rack, that holds all my brushes, the other tools and the colors I use all the time for each current project.
I hope I can finish the spring clean tomorrow morning and get back to building Hope before noon. I really want to get the PMW project of my chest and make room for my other recent projects.

Nah, I'm cool mate, but thanks for your concern. Daily life is stressful, but there are few things more satisfying than the rush of endorphins one gets from a project well done. I just feel the urge to get going again. It's been a while since I really had the chance to make major progress on one of my conversions.

I'm curious too. I can show you my reference.
Something along those lines. Samarianne used to be a Prosecutor sister, but as you might remember she lost her doggy and got depressed. So what I'm building needs to be remotely similar, but it's way bigger and badder.
