Tell you what, I've actually started converting the monkey when I worked on the leader for the miners. I considered making it a demolition monkey. I gave him a protection helmet and removed the powder keg to make room for a melta charge or something. I'll take a pic tomorrow.

Yay pets! I can't wait to see your take on "domestic" animals in 40k. I had tons of fun building my servo-pup, but honestly wish I had gone a little bigger with him. Obviously there aren't a lot of base models to go around, so you really have to be creative with what you have to work with.

Yes I am, but that pic is from last year, I posted it during the PMW contest. You can see that Samarianne holds a kroot rifle as a proxy.
Meanwhile Hope has changed a little as well. I swapped most parts of his "armor" to give him a less clunky, more streamline look.
Update:
I decided spring clean is over. Back to work.
And back to work I went. Before I finish Hope I want the base to be ready, so that's where I started. Cut out the frame for the door. Bent the door. Added another piece of wall. Exchanged the floor plating (still not sure yet). And so on. The positioning of Samarianne and Hope within the scene and in relation to each other is giving me hell. It either looks wrong or they are so close together you can't see much of either miniature. Have to come up with an idea...
Here's a mock-up.

Thanks Dave! Update: I've been a good boy tonight! No worries, no private details, I'm referring to the fact that I sat down to paint for a couple of hours. And even though I had to do something not related to any complicated endeavours, the fact remains that I painted. I wanted to do something fresh and simple, but not completely pointless, so I decided to launch another attempt at creating a paint scheme for my huge, but completely unpainted Tau army. And say what, I made it. I actually already knew quite well what I wanted, but had to figure out how to achieve it. It's something like this, so Sa'Cea with an urban/wasteland/desert twist. Let me know what you think about it, just because I'm curious. My last attempt using pure charadon granite turned out way to brown. This time I used a mix of a new shade of grey I bought, charadon granite and dark sea grey and it worked quite well. I'll be adding to the mix until I get exactly the right hue, but it's pretty damn close now. For the other main colors I already found convenient ways to paint them too. So there is basicly nothing (except lazyness and lack of motivation) that's stopping me from painting those 50 primed firewarriors, that collect dust in my cabinet.

The display base is looking good the door is a nice touch indeed, it makes you feel the area is larger than what it actually is.
Like the Tau scheme, although how it turns out in practice will be the decider

bent door(way):
Glad you all like it. It's an elementary part of the story the complete scene will tell. I used Hopes claws and head for the deformations, because it's Hope's doing afterall.
clean workspace:
I appreciate tidyness and structure and have a hand for achieving it. Unfortunately I lack even the slightest talent for maintaining order once achieved and my criteria for when it's time to clean up again are very generous.
The table already looks much less orderly, but that's what it's good for. The overall system I established during my overhaul will persist though and makes it a lot easier to keep a certain level of order. It's a big step forward that my kits are all in one place, the miniatures in another and all my tools are in drawers and not scattered across the desk.
tau paint scheme:
What do you guys think about the color for optics, lights, energy packs etc.? Blue? Green? Yellow? Orange?
