All looking good there RH! I do like the metal work on the bot.

Thanks guys. A little work on the Medical Nasmat. Camera lens was maybe 3" away, on the macro setting.

Almost done, just a little more highlighting and touch up work. And paint the 'hands'. I'm wondering if I should paint a red crescent or caduceus on it.

It really is 3D. It is a large mini too ( I'd call it 35mm to be honest.)

It needs much work though. Not sure about leaving the legs flesh toned or painting hose on them.

Thanks for stopping by.

Yeah, hose for the legs can even be done with a wash, flesh under a sheer material as a wash or light inking could do.

I do know of 2 ways to paint hosiery, or sheer fabric, It's been a long time since I did anything like that. I will have to practice before I try it on the mini. I'll probably finish the mini entirely then go back and do the hosiery.

I did finish the Nasmat. That means both are done. Final Photos.

And as always, I see areas to touch up. Some of the highlighting needs better blending. Bummer.

A family shot

I won't confuse them on the table, which was part of the reason I chose the paint schemes. Cool little minis. And another Infinity mini painted ( Only 96 to go.)

Thanks for stopping by.

Nice stuff What do you do for your eyes to get that eyeshadow looking look? Do you just black the spot then dash it with white more proficiently than I can or is there a gimmick?

Nasmat has come along nicely

The 'eyes' on the one on the left? That a dark green (yay accurate color rendering) with a white spot. I just dot the eye with white paint ( almost straight from the bottle thick.) The trick is to use something as a guide to steady the brush tip. I'll see if I can get a photo to show you how I do it.

Thanks guys. Remember the camera is only a few inches away, and on macro, so it would be tough to get that much of a close up in RL unless you had a magnifier. But since I paint with a +3.00 reading glasses ( essentially a 2x magnifier, but less goofy looking that the normal ones) That is how I see the mini when painting.

I missed this page heh. Yeah the bot looks great. Green you say? Interesting. I really need to invest more time into painting faces convincingly. Mostly I paint for fun and if something imperfect bothers me, one of these days I'm gonna line them all up and do all the fixing.

Thanks guys.

About painting the eyes. Not much in the way of a tutorial. It is under the spoiler.
Spoiler:

I rest my arms-- elbow to wrist-- on the table to steady my hands. I hold the mini and brush like this

I use my thumb as a brush rest to steady it.

Don't 'stab' the tip to make the white dot. Tap the side of the brush point where you want the spot to go. Practice a few times with just a damp brush to get the angles right. Make sure the rest of the paint on the mini is dry. Completely dry. If you mess the spot, simply apply a drop of water, or a really wet brush, and blot off the paint. You may need to use a wet brush to 'brush' off the paint if it has started to dry a bit. Sort of like an 'eraser'. Let the mini dry and try again. ASS long as the rest of the paint on the mini is fully dry, this won't harm it, as long as you don't let the water sit on the mini too long. Don't try covering over the spot and re-spotting. You'll get too much paint build up that way.

I took a break from Infinity mini painting. My little group. we are thinking about playing some Frostgrave, so I'm putting together my little band. I'm not buying any more minis ( well, maybe that new box of Infinity minis, Red Veil... ) so I'm using what I have. First Idea

The goblins are thieves. Then thugs, (empire swordsmen) archers (wood elf wayfarers) men-at-arms (empire greatswords) Wizard and Apprentice ( from a helblaster volleygun crew.)

But now that I'm thinking about it, I could probably put together a gang from just the D&D minis I have. Saves me the trouble of basingf everything again. Hmmm. And the D&D minis are in the painting queue. The ol' WHFB minis are not.

I did finish one of those goblins. It is a Goblin Cutter from the old D&D miniatures line. Started it Sunday night, so essentially 3 painting sessions. But not the highest quality. The mini is pretty terribad. And there will be another to paint. going to use different colors for it. Hate painting the same mini the same way twice or more times. I may want to touch up those highlights on the fabric folds. Too 'stripey'.

Still, painting goblins is always a nice break from 'serious' minis.

Thanks for stopping by.

The goblin is great. What model is it or is it a kit bash?

Not where I should be

Showing us that even a slightly terrible mini can look stunning with some care and a great paint job.

Agree that maybe some of the highlights are looking more like stripes, but the shading is stunning.

Great looking mini.

Thanks Cam. And there is one more to go. But it is another mini out fo the queue, so progress Always good.

 Archer wrote:

It is a Goblin Cutter, from the D&D miniatures lines. It is now OOP though. You could get it from either the Tyranny of Goblins Dungeon Command game box, or in the Legend of Drizzt Adventure Game. The latter is still available, but it is the least interesting of the D&D Adventure games, given the "Mary Sue" nature of Drizzt.

Working on the 2nd Goblin Cutter. Trying to make it look different enough from the first.

Still debating the rest of the warband. I'll finish this Gobbo-- this weekend-- and get back to the Infinity stuff. I really need/want to finish at least the old starter box for Haqquislam before I order the new one.

Thanks for stopping by.

Fantastic work on those red!! I love the character of old models. I feel like they evoke more creativity than the newer more ornate sculpts. A big reason why ive stopped painting GW models for the most part. At least for now anyways....but yes, great work. The gold works well, looks like gold, so thats a win, and the red is an interesting tone that makes the clothes look weather beaten and worn. Perfect for these grimy little buggers. Good stuff as usual man.

Thanks. Unity of design, Bebop. They were sculpted as a whole, not a pieces to be assembled any which way, which is what Games Workshop does these days. Well, all except for the goblins--which are D&D minis-- and the Empire Swordsmen, which are hideous. (IMHO)

Number two is done

I like this one better than the first.

And for grins, as promised in the thread title
