LDD, I guess if you're after that sort of thing, look at the Arcanists as well...

The sprues are bigger than I thought they'd be, a good thing nice spacing, and those casts look perfect. Looking forward to getting any of their plastic models now.

Should also look up the lawyer character, one of the things I like about the game is how their rules reflect their background. He's got stuff like red tape, I think it was, which stops them from using an ability or something annoying like that.

I got Ramos's box set, his badass Avatar of Invention, about 6 sets of Steampunk Arachnids (I am going to magnetize them for swarms or individuals), the two other steam spider constructs, the Rail Golem, and 3 Union miners (love those sculpts)

Oh and this may be useful.

I don't know, I guess all new. All metal anyways. Yep I played Ramos during my demo game, his ability to create and rebuild those spiders are awesome. Between swarms of those and the killing power of the Steamborg, you can tie your opponent up in CC and keep him safely behind. I haven't used Ramos' avatar yet, but he looks badass.

A lot of the Avatars do. He drew my attention initially for the same reason, but the spiders at the time were said to be nightmares to construct. My second choice was Pandora, until a closer look at the rules meant the crew I wanted to run would automatically lose in about half of the objectives that came up; the only option being to kill the enemy completely.

What do you mean by "a nightmare to construct"? In-game? or the models themselves?

those malifaux sprues look very cool... what does the average mini cost?

and the hirst arts stuff... you just gotta lick your fingers for that tasty stuff... the archways... if you have those bitz... there is no need for carving bricks anymore...

one other thing... the praetorian guardsman combo... i fear with the standard IG shoulderpads he looks like a mini version of a SM... don´t you think so too?

Made in us
Decrepit Dakkanaut

Yeah, the Praetorians need different arms for sure. The single Malifaux minis cost about $11 each on average I think, not really cheap, but they are technically 32mm minis. And yes, I am a huge fan of the Hirst Stuff, even if it takes a lot longer to prepare for building than plastic does, the versatility, and the ability to cast unlimited parts really makes it worth it in the long run. You just have to do all the legwork. The new Dental Stone I ordered has a set time of 9-11 minutes, so that should speed the casting process up quite a bit methinks.

19 times on average set time? that is quick...and how do you treat your molds? any conservative preperations after each use?

i have looked into malifaux... the size isn´t really that bithersome... for certain extra jobs/projects i think it is a nice fresh wind... and honestly... a 32mm Mr. Graves would make a great (pun inteded) Ogryn stand in for a munda or 40k setting.... if i am any judge...

as for the IG praetorians of yours... the lasguns and arms are not that off looking... just the shouldersection needs some work...

I wash the molds with warm water to get any dried plaster chips off, but I don't always dry them really well ,as a little water in the corners helps it all flow rather well, but currently it takes about 30-45 minutes before I can demold, and then they are still pretty damp and prone to cracking until they fully dry about 2 days later. If you try to glue them before they are dry, the glue actually erodes the plaster a bit. The Dental Stone is harder than plaster. The stuff I ordered has a compression strength of 9000 PSI, the hardest stuff you can buy is twice that strength at 18000 PSI, but it turns out like Ceramic almost, which isn't really necessary IMHO.

and since the molds are silicone... do you use something to keep them bendy ? like powder or such stuff?

no, with Plaster you don't need a mold-release, if you used Resin however, the molds would wear out much quicker.
