I suspect a new starter box is in the works. Mark Latham (designer of AK, amongst other things ) intimated that he was working on a Big Justice League... thing. Personally, I'd like a dual BMG/dcumg starter.
The problem with a justice league starter, though, is who do you include? Bat, Flash, Cyborg?

In terms of the 3-model sets, the Trinity set works well enough as a JL starter for DCU. What I'd love to see though is a box like the SS one with the whole League vs Steppenwolf and half a dozen Parademons or something. A proper 2-player starter set rather than just a team starter.

Addendum: all heroes are one faction (Blue!), The Brave and The Bold. Models keep their existing ranks, but can work together otherwise. What the impact will be on equipment, and whether there will be bonuses for staying "mono" (to use a MTG term) is another matter. As for villains, nothing confirmed beyond something similar, though I'd wager Jokes (purple?) and Riddles (green?), plus "Other" (grey) for Grodd et al.

Pretty interesting idea, I'm not strongly for or against it but more freedom is never a bad thing. From what KM are saying the villains can pool models in the same way, which might make switching crews easier; rather than needing to buy a new Assault Rifle Guy for a Two-face, Black Mask or Crime crew, you can presumably just use the one you have with the boss of your choice. After all, a dude in a suit with a gun is a dude in a suit with a gun. So yeah, I'm up for a more modular approach to team-building.

I pretty much own Brave and the Bold as is simply because the only difference between the factions is something like 2-3 unique models for Law and Arrow a piece.

Next teaser, bit of an overhaul to movement. Short version is that measurement is done in inches rather than cm now and instead of random movement from spending MC, you add 2" to the base 4" movement.

With the advent of the 2nd Edition of Batman Miniature Game come the consecrated changes in the rules and the way of playing. One of the great aspects that we wanted to simplify and improve were the measurements and movement of the models by the gaming table; let's see these changes:

The most significant and important change is that we have changed the measurement system from centimeters to inches (marked with the symbol “), which is one of the most used measurement systems in miniature games and we want the most comfort for our players.

Before, a normal model moved 10 centimeters and could see another enemy in the night of Gotham at 30 cm; now it will move 4” and will see at 12”.

In the previous Edition, the Action Counters assigned on a model to the Movement Skill (called MC) could be used to throw six-sided dices and add the results to its basic movement distance, being an interesting randomize option but makes feel the game complicated. Now the system has been simplified so that, for each MC spent, the model adds 2" to its basic movement distance.

With this change you will know exactly how far you will move in youractivation, being able to accurately calculate your moves and making the enemy know how far the danger is lurking!

Not a fan of this. The semi-random movement introduced a lot of tension, not knowing until you roll whether you can reach the target or whether you'll be left in the open, not knowing if you can get out of range of a weapon before it fires or close the gap to stop an enemy firing ect. Using MC was always a nice gambling mechanic so I'm somewhat saddened to see it go.

Seconded. The tension of me sending in Titan Bane, only to roll just short was often memorable.

Just got an exclusive for my next bigcomicpage.com article, Joker is not merging with any other crews - even wonderland - and ISN'T the only crew in that position.

Glad to see the MC rule change. It's not so much that I hated the random roll, just that a random roll in cm is abysmal. On the average, models just move way too slow and spending counters to have a decent chance of not even moving a base length made it so a character would often just become completely baffled by a lamp post or something and spend their turn glitched out stuck on the corner of a building or something.

How would that work with the good guys / ad guys approach though? It sounded like all bad/good crews could work with the same?

They said they're merging all the good guys. They didn't say anything about doing the same to the bad guys.

Which makes sense; the good guys separation was pretty non-existent.

This is the exact quote from the KM page

' Do you want to see how Spartan and Gordon work together? Or check if the Two-Face and Black Mask thugs can team up without resorting to infighting? Keep reading!'

That second bit implies that bad guys will be able to cooperate to some extent, though if I were to guess I'd say that's more for the crime boss types like Black Mask and Penguin than the more out-there ones like Joker or Riddler.

Clarification on the crew situation.

Short version:
- Ivy>Gotham City Sirens
-Organised Crime now includes Two-face, Black Mask and LexCorp, though strangely not Penguin unless they just missed him
-Mad Hatter is now a Free Agent, not a Boss.

In our second new-look crew showcase, we take a look at some more crews that have undergone some changes.

The Poison Ivy crew has been renamed the Sirens, allowing a much greater variety of thematic options within the game. The 2nd edition launch will include several starter sets, one of which will be an excellent example of this deadly new crew, containing the three Arkham City versions of the Sirens – Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Catwoman (even if that union is a little crazy!).

Organized Crime has undergone a major overhaul, increasing its options and allowing several powerful alliance. This faction brings together Gotham’s greatest mobsters from the existing Organized Crime crew, Two-Face and Black Mask.

Although these crime-bosses frequently squabble, they’re also united in their lust for power and wealth, and their hatred for Batman. With the new Organized Crime Affiliation, new alliances emerge, allowing for characters such as Hugo Strange to join with Two-Face, or for Carmine Falcone to call in the Penguin (Gotham TV Series) to help him attend to his ‘business matters’.

Finally, in an effort to add variety to the ranks of Gotham’s freaks, we’ve decided to change the Mad Hatter’s Rank from Leader to Free Agent, allowing this manic milliner to align himself with any number of villainous crews. As a stalwart of Batman’s rogue’s gallery, the Mad Hatter also gains the Hates: Brave and the Bold trait, cementing his place as one of Gotham’s most wanted. “But what about his crew?” we hear you cry! Fear not – all of the Mad Hatter’s gang get the Organized Crime Affiliation. In addition, Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee keep Affiliation: Joker, while White Rabbit keeps Affiliation: Bane.

Now that's kinda good news for me. My 2 side-gangs were Two-Face and Poison Ivy.

Earth 616

Came to answer a question from last page:

I got my Grodd crew this week. And the plastic/resin is a mixed bag so far.

Positives:
--easier to work with than the metal
--fits together nicely (again, as opposed to the metal)
--decently detailed

Cons:
--not as much detail as the metal models
--way more flash than the metal (literally every piece had to be trimmed)
--more pitting than I saw in any of the metal

In the end, its hopefully going to be significantly cheaper (though, I'm picturing single models still being in the high teens $ and the 4 man squads in the low $30's; basically bringing us back to the metal prices of last year before the price increase). But, the KM quality control still looks like its not a priority at all.

I got removed for posting a Death STroke paint guide on a none-KM model (there was no guide for the KM model). Whoever the admin was they were touchy as hell.

Yeah, no warning or notice I had been banned and the Admin, Bruno Diaz, hasn't responded to my inquiry on what rule I was breaking. Rather annoying that he gets to be an official voice for the company but he'll ban you for any dissent.

I would think it unlikely that Bruno Diaz would ban someone (not saying it's impossible, but it's unlikely), I would imagine he's too busy doing, like, his job....

Drew is the main guy who does the day to day and would more likely be the one doing those sorts of admin duties.

But seriously though fowks, for all KM's faults, which is a fair amount, posting pictures of a rival companies model on their official group, or any companies official group/forum was never going to get a positive reaction, no matter how good the paint job.

"Anyone got a guide on how to paint Deathstroke?"
"Yes."
"Care to share?"
"We can't."
"Why?"
"Because other companies don't exist, and you'd be a fool or a communist to suggest so."
"OK, how about sharing a guide on a KM model?"
"There isn't one."
"OK, so can I see the-"
"Commie!"

Sorry mate, but that's a fairly lame excuse. They were hyper sensitive on that page. Less so now, but at the time you'd be removed for anything less than total, unwavering praise.

Also crouching still costs 1sc, and falling damage has been changed a little and will be in a chart.

Confirmation that Crouching is a bonus to Defense and not a Ping! modification. Are Ping!s even still in the game? "Who knows..."

Pings are (were?) pretty abstract, but given how scenery dense Batman can get I feel it added something. I hope they stay.

Which looks great, but is there just going to be a £50-60 starter I can buy with everything I need to play in? Like 40k, WM, Dropzone, Dropfleet, SW Legion, etc etc.

And the metals are now 50 euros for 4, which is insane for things like the blackgate prisoners set. I have a decent amount of the metals, but not enough to play standard size BMG games (DCUMG I totally can though).

I'd like to get into BMG, but until the next edition the rules are split over a couple of books.

Has there been a release list and prices yet, given September is next week?

I would expect a 2 player starter but you can't really tell with KM.

I know it's not fair to compare FFG to KM but I am going to anyway.
We know exactly what is in the Star Wars Legion game coming out late 2017/early 2018...we have very little idea about BMG 2.0 out in 30-40 days.
(and no ability to pre-order yet)

Not too keen on the goons, but that Joker is great, the original Arkham City one was always the best but now he's got competition. Given that that is still the Arkham look, I wonder if he'll be yet another variant rules-wise or if he'll 'adopt' the discontinued original's rules.

I'd expect a 2-player starter simply as this whole thing seems to be about making the game a bit more accessible. Also, if the rumours around the SSquad box being shelved are true, they'll want something to fill that gap. That, or they're going to go with what they did with the Marvel game and bundle a mini-rulebook in with the crew starter sets.

I think the best thing for this new edition launch, though, would be to have new resin crew starters up and running for most or all of the major crews from the word go... it's a big ask, but if they could get out Joker, Penguin, Crime, Bane, League and Batman starters next month then they'd have a solid foundation to build from. Canning the majority of the old stuff leaves a gap that needs to be filled ASAP if they're going to capitalise on pulling new players in with this new edition; you pretty much can't start a Two-face, Black Mask, Bane crew at this point without going direct to KM which is a pain for Europe and pretty much unfeasible for the US/Canada and Australia/NZ.

Short pre-order times don't bother me so much, I'd rather there be a month between reveal and release and still be excited for the product than hear about something 3-4 months out and lose all enthusiasm by the time it actually launches.
