For some reason that makes me think hovercraft more than a skimmer type....and what would happen if the thing keeping it afloat punctures.... balloon zipping across the room type deal?

choke on this mates^^:

still needs the PVA glue to dry but this is the maingun... might get some work done from the connecting to the turret point to the barrel...as i have to think something up for this...

like, dislike? well make your own and dare to show it here OR...this is way easier...praise me^^

cheers mate, the hull by the way is still not done...not motivated enough for that atm...

That looks sweet, 1 hing to maybe consider, maybe make the tops of th plates into archeslike a big n instead of square...... could make it look more grimdarky and then use it to paint pics of big victories, skulls etc......

Looking good on the barrel with the muzzle brake and all!

Will you be adding the *term forgotten* thingy that goes at the back of the barrel where it attaches to the turret?

That looks a little like a halfbarrel mounted sideways. So it looks like you can elevated and depress the gun barrel.

Or make it a big slot so it looks like it is done from the inside (like a field gun)

Very nice Work vik , is that plasticard? i agree with shazo in that it could use a mounting thingy .. where the barrel meets the tank , but looks great regardless. the size is a good choice , not too huge and not too skinny either.

thanks mates, tomorrow i will post some more pics of the barrel, it has some hidden nice details^^

at chibi and dante:

the connective point of the barrel to the turret will get a needed attention...i at first tried to make a half sperical "thingy" like the chimera lasguns...if you know what i mean:

i have these cherrybomb casings...empty and already spent^^ so no harm anymore...these should do as a cover for the joint...maybe a bit of GS work there to cover up some messy points...

at neil:
the white parts of the barrel are form a hardwarestore that hat plastic tubings and these are plasticcard as i think...but they were dead cheap and i got plenty of them when i went shoping with my wife^^... the only reason why i hadn“t already used it was that i never came to cut this stuff with a straight edge... all my cuts were miserable work...

That looks a little like a halfbarrel mounted sideways. So it looks like you can elevated and depress the gun barrel.

at dantay:
...please explain further as my texh comprehesion in english is rather limited and i feel that this might be a good thing you are suggesting...

the size of the barrel should go for the standard barrel and amunition a Leman Russ uses...hope i am in line with those designs a bit...

at dantay again^^:
That looks sweet, 1 hing to maybe consider, maybe make the tops of th plates into archeslike a big n instead of square...... could make it look more grimdarky and then use it to paint pics of big victories, skulls etc......

hmmm that sounds very interesting... i don“t know i am able atm to do that but i have an image of what you suggested in my mind and i like that^^... but i think this design should be done at the beginning... i don“t know if i could built that on the current one too...tho i now regret that as it would certainly push the steampunk look way further...darn...

Good work, it's coming together, though I can't say I like the design that much, the whole turret is too high and thus toy-like to me. Might be just me...

well i imagined the gunner to be standing inside the turret... the spnsons are too manhigh ...i had experimented with smaller turrets but didn“t found them fitting...

I build a lot of stuff using the cardboard over foam technique. I didnt have time to read the last 40 pages of stuff so i am not sure that you got this hint already, but you can use wire nails (very small fine gauge nails that they use for picture frames and the like) to hold the cardboard to your foam model and they double as rivets when you are all done with your project.

Also. You can use a ball point pen to score the face of the cardboard so that it bends easily at the place you want the armor plate to bend at. If you are using smooth cardboard like that which GW boxes are made out of , score the rough inside face of the material sot hat the pen mark is on the inside of what you pin to your model.

Tracks can be made with those little plastic clips that they use for bread bags. The creset shaped clips. If you break them in half and use one half for one side of the tank and the other half for the other side, they make nice premade treads for your tanks.

Lookin good so far. enjoy seeing the progress.
BTW. if you look in my gallery all the Funky lookin ork vehicles were made using the same techinques that i outline above.
cheers.

at sennacherib:

just looked through your ork gallery as suggested...nice collection of very good looking vehicles...

the tip with the pins i tried already...didn“t really work for me though...

could you show a pic of said bread bags plastic clips? i googled the term and the pics i got arn“t available in germany... must be a country related product...

to bend i usauall use a knife to score then bend the cardboard ... this leaves a straight but then torn edge... i will try to test your suggested ball pen methode... maybe this way i can make bends without sharp and cut looking edges...

also welcome on board^^

Like Dantay said, I think arching the reinforcement strips on the top (so they look like CZ from the side instead of [Z ) dang that didn't work well, but yeah, that'd be a nice little decorative detail, make it more Steampunky.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

lol...didn“t know you for a show off type a guy^^

well as for show off...yesterday i promised a closer look to the barrel, infact into the barrel^^
here it is...:

thus i think it is quite enough textured already...

and then i did a rather really quick mockup from paper to demonstrate the suggested look from quite a bunch of the residents of this thread...namly arched look to the turret...behold:

mind you this is only paper and you have to take into acount that the shape of the turrets side are altenating wider and smaller...and these arches could only be done in the sections that are mostly oblong...so still should i go for the arched look even if it was only every two sections?

your thoughts for inspiring me even further please!

Hmm, nice shots of that cannon Vik!

Arched areas would look nice, especially in areas big enough to support them for icons to be placed in!

I figured if he was gonna get upset, then he sees the Perun his head may explode from both tanks overwhelming his mind!

lol....that might be the case^^ overdose of epicness can be harmfull... after all a serious strain of jawmuscles could hurt for a long time...^^

hmmmm... icons in the archway....any ideas as what icons i could use? i wanted to kake my army as skullless as possible by the way... so something more in the lines of british victorian style ....and still doable my me mind you^^

The arch looks cool, very steampunk , freehanding would be nice but i think this tank is more victorian industrial , like the structures by gustav eiffel or Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

ok, neil, to your latest additions here i will do a bit of a try and error work... we had that discussion on the airship if i recall correctly... now would also be a goo time to rethink the "eifel" look to steel...

the cutout and paste look ...shaso if you have a certain ring of image to your mind do tell...i would give it a try...but these images would have to be done when the tank is almost completed, or not? like decals?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
by the way, had to look up gustav eiffel brunel^^ we live we learn^^
