This is a really boss plog man.

I love seeing the whole force coming together, with some really unique decisions (like the bone chaplain).

I have to ask dude, the winged skull shoulder pad. What kit does that come in?
I'd love to pick up a bunch of those...

Keep up the good work. Also I <3 the 3D glasses

Hope to finish the Terminators tomorrow or Friday. Also need to finish the heads for everyone and backpacks for the non-jump pack models. I'll do the jump packs later on.

Jeeze you gonna have a fully painted army for the campaign coming up then? I'm either gonna have to get cracking or keep using half painted stuff.

@Twalks: That's the plan. I need to make people feel bad for not having a painted army .

@StarGate: I have a few combi weapons I've made myself. The others I am going to use are stock ones.

Finished a bot more today.

The Sergeant's Head

Bodies of 3 Terminators

Heads of 5 Vanguard

I have a lot of arms and such to paint tomorrow so it looks like Friday is 'Purple Day'.

@Scottywan82: Go right ahead. Just remember, my marines are 4th Company.

I finished some more terminators today.

As well as my Shrike counts-as, except for some touchups and his head and jump pack.

And lastly, a terminator shot, except the assault terminators.

After I finish Shrike, who I'm calling Shrieve in my army, I should probably finish that Raider.

SoG

I've finished the head on Shrieve.

and the Heavy Flamer and head for the Terminator.

I also bought the Space Marine Casualties to use as objective markers in my group's upcoming campaign, so I should have those done this week too in addition to the raider that I hope to get done.

Just want to say, I really love your paint scheme (and your skill at painting [and converting too]) although I personally would go for a dark red instead of purple, kinda like Hive Fleet Kraken's colors. I'm also curious as to how well you think your bone colors would translate to painting a necron army. I took some pics in the Dawn of War Army Painter...

What do you think?

@MasterDRD: While the dark red does look good, I wanted a more regal look for my marines and purple does that job nicely. I'm also a big fan of purple and bone together. I think the bone would do well on a Necron army.

Here's the link to how I painted the bone if you're interested: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/259891.page

Also, I got a bit more stuff built recently. This isn't all of it, but it shows that I'm still working on stuff.

Apothecary, Cyclone Missile Launcher Terminator, Command Squad Vet

Very nice, I like the mace claws on the dread. (not sure if it's a conversion, but it stands out to me.)

On the subject of the necrons, it seems (unsurprisingly) that someone actually did paint their necrons bone-colored; a member of this forum in fact, though the last update was July 10th... Ravendove's Necrons
Although mine will be different in that I'll use red as a secondary color and the standard green for gauss stuff, this proves that it can be done effectively. I'll be using your technique for bone, though.

Hey SoG, I have a question. When you paint your Bestial Brown undercoat and then 3 layers of Menoth White Base, do you dilute the paint at all or paint straight from the pot? And if you do dilute, how much? I'm asking because I just finished the last coat of Menoth White Base straight from the pot, and I can see the 'texture' of the dried paint on the model. Is it supposed to be like that...? (I haven't really painted models with more than 2 coats before, so I'm worried about painting it too thick...)

I always water down my paint. I usually do about 2:1 paint to water or so, enough so it flows nicely but isn't too watery that it doesn't cover well.

Well then, that explains why yours look smooth and mine looks like he got spit on by a tyranid...

Ok, I'm exaggerating a bit. Bit the paint is a bit too thick on mine, and I think I went a bit too heavy on the Gryphonne Sepia wash.

I'd love to show you, but I don't have a good camera like you do; the pictures would be blurred/unfocused enough so as to be useless. (how do you people get such detailed shots, anyway?)

No, I haven't. I started these guys and they kind of took over. I do plan on having a SoM in my Deathwatch Sternguard squad though. I just need to figure out a good way to model the chapter badge.

Hey SoG, just wanted to let you know that I painted a necron using your bone technique... (with properly watered paint)
And it looks pretty fething sweet! The model itself isn't done yet, since I just so happen to not have any sort of dark red paint, but other than possible 'touch-ups' to cover future mistakes, the bone is completely painted. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's probably the best paintjob I've done so far. Then again, I hardly consider myself a skilled painter. But I'll be proud to show this one off.
I wish I could take pictures for you, but I don't have a camera, and the pictures I take with my cell phone are so blurry that it'd be faster (and exactly as detailed) to just spraypaint a tan stick figure in MS Paint.
