Just watched 300 again.
The pose on He'stan is very reminiscent of the one after the Captain kicks some butt and clears out the Persians around him.
More a finishing pose.
I think he is attempting to stab, NOT throw the spear. His torso is in a mid-counter-clockwise twist stab motion.
Hopefully we get some other angles. But I think that is what he is supposed to be doing.

Given the position of Hestan's left leg is going off the ground, it can only mean he is winding up to throw the spear. Which is fine and all, but the thing sticking out is blowing in the wrong direction then.

Oh Christ on a pogostick made from the holy chross itself..
It does explain why that fething redshirt tries so desperately to offload those Dark Eldar boxed sets onto us at each visit. It also explains the van out back with the boxes of marines in them.
