I once charged my captain with 1 wound left into a fresh carnifex flyrant and about 20 gaunts... He won the assault!

Keep in mind, it was the last turn so he didn't kill them all, but surviving that is pretty good in my mind.

The next best is 1 marine against 16 hormagaunts. A warrior tried to template the other combat squad, full scatter and killed 8 gaunts, the combat squad removed synapse, and the marine killed 1 guant per turn until the game ended.

I have the same type of experience with mine, he's gotten quite a story going by now...
9 years ago in 3rd my brother bought a box of 'zerkers and lost the bent leg off of several (he was 12 at the time)
I took the one legged model I liked the most and bandaged up the stump. He then became stumpy, a standard 'zerker serving in the FOC.
Fast forward a couple of years and now the little guy has an unkillable reputation and is promoted to skull champion Stumpy. Remove the arms for a proper axe of khorne and give him a banner pole bearing his name. Stumpy becomes MORE unkillable.
Moving into 5th the life expectancy of stumpy is turn 5-6, and his survival is valued more than some objectives. Opponents divert forces to kill him once they bounce off his unit the first time. Several times Stumpy has been the sole survivor of a unit only to have another unit of zerkers run over to shield him.
After a really rough game where I won with maybe 10-12 models left on the board (stumpy being one of them). Stumpy has now been promoted to High Lord Stumpy, power armor demon weapon Lord. He still pisses off the enemy, even though he can now be targeted in combat.

I've changed the arms and upgraded his base, but it's the same 9 year old plastic kicking ass out there. If he makes it to 15 I'll retire him.

Lol. Mine was 3rd ed too. I've also used him as a chaos lord in some games, and upgraded him with the heads of notable defeated opponents (my friend was awesome enough to give me the spare sicarius head....Zagstruck is just the ork kommander from the stompa...he's also standing on a salamander head, after I gave them an utter thrashing).

I have a power weapon equipped crusader (the sword bretheren model) who in a practice game for the Battlefoam Tournament survived 2 rounds of combat with 'nilla marines, jumped in a LRC, survived it exploding, the dangerous terrain check, and 3 vindicator blasts (4+ cover) before holding down the critical objective (counts as 2) for the rest of the game. Tipping the scales to a win for me.

Deadly Dire Avenger

For me, it is a Dire avenger with a Power weapon. One time, he got his entire aquad destroyed, and he passed his morale test against 5 space marines, and STILL won! And one time, I went to ground in the open and he passed his 6+ cover save against a multi-melta! Then I remembered the time he took on the Blood Angel Corbulo (may have spelt it wrong) and totally killed him.

You got blood on my suit!

I was playing a game of WHFB using Dwarfs against dark elves and had a thunderer in a unit of ten who survived two rounds of bolt throwers after his mates died double tapping at him and then he killed a cold one in shooting and killed another in close combat and didnt run in the face of a hydra before he died. i was playing warmaster and i had a lone stand of pistoliers who killed a stand of dwarf thunderers and made another confused and then went on to kill i think two stands of warriors.

i can't think of a good one............

I have this one sgt in my SM tactical squad that is a real allstar. There have been several games where he is the only one left from the unit. He has single handedly held objectives from lictors, dispatched of small infantry squads and even killed HQs. Its this one particular model, even though I have two loaded out in the same way (BP + PW). He was the first Sgt I painted so I think its just the experience factor

Last game my Vyper proved incredibly lucky. Equipped with nothing more than a Shuriken Cannon on the turret and another one underslung, no Holo-fields or anything, it survived countless Lascannon blasts, direct Battle Cannon hits and rounds of Heavy Bolter fire with nothing worse than a couple of Stunned results and 1 Weapon Destroyed result for the entire game =D
