I'm loving that custom Night Lords shoulder pad you did!
My wife keeps telling me I need to greenstuff bat wings on to my Night Lords, but I just don't know how to do them and have them turn out good. A skill you've obviously mastered.

Also good to see I'm not the only one using the Blood Angels codex for a Night Lords army. It really does suit them way better than anything you can find in the *actual* Chaos Codex, well, this at least in this sad version of the Codex.

I got 4 teleporter backpacks in the post this morning and ordered 6 more today fafter finding some in another bitz place.

also primed my Sons of Medusa Master of the Forge today after a 4 hour stripping him yesterday.

A friend said try Simple Green but at £18 inc postage I might give it a try later.

What do these teleporter backpacks look like?

I'm intrigued now as they sound very interesting.

Fairy Power Spray.

I've used it on metals and plastics with acrylics and enamels. Spray, leave for 10 minutes, scrub with a toothbrush (preferably an old one, or someone else's), rinse. On a couple of old, multiple enamel layered guys I needed to do a second go to get it all off.

They look very different, will you be painting them in the Night Lords scheme or Grey Knights as looted gear?

I had an idea last night about a Chaos army using looted marine parts from there kills but leaving them in the original chapters colours so they count as trophies, I may have even got the idea from reading your post about the backpacks.

Well I've just read through your whole blog and really enjoyed it! I too am tempted by the silliness of an Achilles, even if they can only be run in a Seige list. Love you Lightning effects and the combination of night lords/bats/teleporters. On the subject of stripping minis, try undiluted fairy power spray. £3.49 a bottle. Keep on bloggin'!

miss dee, mid sharing as to why your techmarine is all green? is that fluff oriented or will he be stripped? the shoulderpads and the teleporter backpacks is a cool combination... with all those pearbuds (?) you have created quite a romantic feel for him^^

Red imho makes him stick out like a Libby in blue, ok if your fielding Ultras.

that of course is true, was just a bit startled by the colorchoice...as your nightlords are dark blue/blackish so i thought a deep red would be quite cool...something from mecharite red and then tone done real hard with lots of washes of baal red...to make him look bloody and dark... the green looks a bit to cheery for your guys...specially if you will go for an all batlike shoulderpads army, but don´t let me hinder you with my musings^^ i really only like to discuss^^

so the sons of medusa...did you mention them before? i am not overly firm in most chapters, so i was a bit irritated^^ as you brought up the color green... now that mystery is sloved by googling^^ and i understand now...but still, why not make him then be a bit more in the direktion of a DA as colors go? to tie him in and yet set him a bit apart...ißve done a similar thing with my own model...he is rather dark red as i don´t like those cheery paints...but here we are again talking about taste and this should not be done because it wont lead to nothin` ^^

I tend to do MY libbies the same colour as the chapter so they dont get picked off, just 'cuse GW has the libbies blue where does it say the have to be blue?

I like my army to be one standard colour. Ok Sons of medusa are 2 as the Night Lords are 2 as well excluding the lightning.

Teleporter dude looks cool, not completely convinced by those backpacks yet, but I'm going to have to loot some anyway. What red are you using for the details?

I like Techies and libbies who are the same base colour as their brothers, with standout colours to mark them, although I also like red techies


Vik - Didn't think a pic of some Fairy would last long i the dakka gallery so did a quick test to go with it:



These guys are done in enamels, about 20 years ago. Sprayed, then left for about 20 mins, maybe half-an-hour, forgot they were there. A scrub with a toothbrush and...



Not perfect, but I could have put a bit more effort into scrubbing, and it is 20 year old enamel Give it a day or so and the remaining paint should peel away easily with a dental tool/tip of a knife. Or could get another spray and scrub.
