I like the Banehammer, but I think that adding on really, really big sore to the front portion of the main turret, right next to the main gun, would be sweet. Like, one Zit to rule them all.
Also, you could have a panel or two open on the tank, and have a bunch of Nurglings doing "repair work" on damaged areas. For ideas on sculpting nurglings, go to Warseer, and look for Dee's chaos army of Mammoth Intended Proportions in the Fantasy blogs section. The nurglings he does uses extra bitz with greenstuff wrapped around them basically. They look pretty good, and have tons of character.

Thanks GiraffeX and Brotheralexos.
I am going to be doing a lot more posting for at least the next twenty days while i ready my army for the apocalypse game that i have on the 18th. Like i said earlier i am on a strict 1hr per day minimum schedule of just GS work to try and keep the pace.
@ Brotheralexos.
I havent checked out Dees army on warseer but i will. Thanks for the heads up. I have a bunch of those little nurglings but sculpting my own is the way to go man. I also like the idea about the main gun. I have to make it so that i can replace the plates to the right of the gun, but to the left hand side it is already glued down. WE shall see what i can do but i might be able to get some more pics up later today, though i have a pretty busy schedule.
One nurgling is deffinitly going in the rear shrine area by the corpse in a cage.

Thanks Magnus the red. If i ever decide to sell my army, you will get it if you want it, thats for sure.
For everyone who is unaware, Magnus the red has been one of the biggest driving forces pushing me from Ultramarines and into chaos. He plays Tzneech and has constantly been feeding me subversive literature and a word in the ear. He also gave me the banehammer for my 39th birthday as well as a host of the plague marines AND the winged demon prince pictured below. So, loyalists are slowly loosing ground do to the efforst of Tzneech to eat away at the underpinings of the loyalist base.
Just figured i would post another quick update.
Below is the Hearld of Typhus. I have been painting on it some. Its still only just approaching table top quality but in order to play in this upcoming APOC game, i have to have it at least well enough painted to be able to feild it next to my existing troops. The hatches and a few of the details on the sides like the bells have still got to be painted as wethered brass with blue corrosion. Other than that it has a hour or two left to get it table top ready and maybe five or six hours before i can clear coat it and call it done.
The Demon Prince has wings (not sure what make cause Magnus the Red gave me the model) and since warp time got the nerf i think i will give it winds of chaos or Nurgles rot. Probably the rot so i can use it more effectively in melee and against hordes. I have to get this fully completed in the next 20 days. this, and a few other models. I really have a lot of work on my hands. anyways.
Please write Magnusthered and harass him to start his own blog here. He has an amazing looking Tzneech army as well as an all forgeworld chaos gaurd army. the more pressure we put on him to get a blog the better. Fill his mail box with the voice of chaos. We commands it.

In keeping with my 1 hour minimum of GS work that i have been doing a day to get the Behemoth ready for battle, I have been trying to document my progress. I had sworn off spikey bitz in my army, but for this particular tank, since it is at the head of the armored collumn, i decided that spikey bitz and some of the more over the top stuff like excessive chains would be ok. SO, here's some progress, minus todays GS work.

I really really hope i can get it done in time to be able to play it in that Apoc battle. with 17 days left to work on it i think i can get it done. I am really going to have to paint like mad though.
And yes, i think i am going to be adding some more chains to it, but what does dakka think. More chains and bits, or is less more.

Thanks Skalk.
I have not made the kind of progress that i have wanted to complete on it. Yesterday i did nothing with it, GS wise. I did fool around with it some but i am just beat from all the GS work and school. Today i did what may be the last of three GS efforts before i am done with the GS, aside from the plague smoke stacks at the back. Those will take at least till this sunday if i work extra hard to complete them. Then i still have about two hours of dremmeling to do, as well as about an hour of gluing sand on it to simulate corrosion. If all goes as planned i should be able to post a primed picture of it on Monday.

Thanks Prime.
I plan on doing a couple of layers of plague stacks so that they stretch up from the bottom of the engine to the top of the engine compartment. There will likely be around a dozen of them. Once i get a few down it will be a lot faster going.
The front fenders of the tank are getting decked out with a bunch of plague censors in the shape of a Nurgle symbol. Should be a pretty easy sculpt. Still gotta add a little more corrosion but at the rate that i am going it should be ready for painting right on schedule.

I've said it before and I'm saying it again, the attention to tiny detail you labor with on your vehicles (specifically the corrosion pox marks) is amazing and makes an incredible amount of difference. The GS is as excellent as always.

@ Skalk and Lictor, thanks for the , it helps motivate the continued maddness that i am engaged in.
SO i am finally ready to prime. Right on schedule but at the expence of time better spent doing school work etc. well, lets be real. Nothing is more important than working on 40k RIght. JK.
Finished up the exhausts, plague censors, and added the sand/corrosion that you see in reddish brown here and there. I use the reddish brown paint mixed with PVA because sometimes it flakes off a bit and this way the color is a close enough match to rust that it doesnt make me want to repaint it right away. Helps to mitigate the inherent weakness entailed by this technique. By Monday i hope to have new pics posted of it primed etc.

@ Nidious~ THere was a long mental debate over the chains and spikes. Since nothing in my army has any spikes and the chains are really only found on my land raider, and there they serve the purpose of being rigging points for the dooom bells, the spikes and chains nearly didnt make it onto the model.
I did finally decide to put em on there since this was to be the flagship of my army. I also felt it should represent, resplendant in all the glory of nurgles finest. Thats why the pair of banners etc. I would still really like to put some bells on it but i cant find a place where they wont just feel gratuitous.
Thanks for the feedback. Next time i face you, your grey skins are going to be taking a pummeling.

I really like your "less is more" approach to GS (I may have even said that before in this thread) and instead focus on smaller detail that really stands out when grouped together.
At some point in the next year or so I'm hoping to clear my decks enough to try something like this. Not for quite a while, though. I have so much on my "to do" list that I'm beyond overwhelmed. Ha.

@ Skalk. Thanks dude. I sometimes have mixed feelings about this approach when i see other peoples work. Some people have done an amazing job with the application of large quantities of detail to smal areas. We all have our own approach which is what makes this kind of work so fun. I appreciate the as always.
Just a quick update. Primed and ready for painting.
should be able to get it done in the next 12 days though i doubt very much i will be able to finish the demon prince, the defiler or the 5 termis i was supposed to get to. Harumph.

Nice sharp lines on the paint!
I understand the "mixed feelings". I know my Death Guard are unique and stand out on the sea of olive-drab armor, but sometimes I wish I'd gone for the darker / gritter look instead of the bilious caustic poison look. I absolutely know I cut corners and rush projects at the end because they stress me out when they are stuck between 50% and 90% done, that's where so so so many of my models are at right now and I'm convinced I'll never finish any of them. I know that isn't true and I've proven time and again on my Death Guard blog that even if it is months later almost everything I've touched and assigned to this project has been completed... but to what degree? I skipped detail here, messy paint job there, and settled for "good enough". Not bashing my painting and modeling skills, I know my "good enough" is pretty decent. I fall short of my own expectations sometimes.
Also a quick update- I bought the APOC and APOC-Reloaded books this last weekend. $15 for the set! I REALLY want a Super Heavy now! Maybe two or three! Great. Another project looms. Ha.

Just a quick update. got the majority of it base coated. now on to the dry brush, wash, dry brush stage. if i can get it mostly done today then finishing it by sat should be doable. It has to be table ready as this apoc game is being advertised on the G3 events Facebook website and i dont want to dissapoint.
@ Mxwlimdr in all honesty i have no idea what set the caged skelton is from.. . a freind gave me a heap o bitz and that was in there. whenever i run across some bit that would be perfect i set it aside. My only guess would be the Giant model that they make for fantasy. as for GS skills. dont worry. what i did dosnt take much skils. if you have a little GS already, you can experiment on a spare piece of plasicard. To make the boils and pustules, just start by making a whole slew of little tiny balls of GS. smaller than a BB. let them harden over night, Next step. put a small amount of GS on some experimental plasitcard. flatten it out leaving a little mound in the middle. spread it out and use the back of the spoon shaped tool i pictured below to smooth the edges of the GS till it thins out to almost nothing. Next you want to cut a few of those little balls of gs you made the night before in half. press the halved spheres into the GS with the domed side facing out at irregular intervals. they look better when they are kinda clumped up with a few outliers. more like a real infection. then use the butt end of the paint brush and the pointy part of a toothpick to dimple the rest of the surface. i use the toothpic to make little crater by just poking the tip in and then swirling it in every increasing circles to open the GS up like a freshly popped zit. remember. only work with wet tools and a toothpic soaked in water remains non stick for a while.

Spent the day yesterday trying to get the banehammer ready, not to mention the landraider and predator that were featured earlier in the thread. Everything is coming together. In order to play any of my stuff in the upcoming G3 event, it has to be painted. I wont be able to get the banehammer fully painted, but it will at least be base coated and table ready.
there is still so much to do its ridiculous. I still have to add mud and grime to all of my vehicles, paint the banners etc. but as long as they look nice on the table i can use them. The bane hammer is getting there. Later today i will post some pics after i paint on some of the little bitz on the side. For now i have school....
