Sweeet, he'll look great with the pack. And yeah, lighting is something I too have to work on, I thinks I am going to take inspiration from this article and move on from my scratch build lightbox...

@ KernalTerror - thanks! I think I am going to buy a little light box. They are surprisingly cheap and give. That I already have a few lamps I use for painting, the lighting won’t be an issue. It will make for better pictures which “may” make for better LOOKING paint jobs.

I have been sticking to my goal of painting one mini per day. This one is not done yet as I still have to full coat it and then streak the face with blood. This model is one of my favorites from the batch I converted. After painting my least favorite infigured it was time to do the other side of t(e coin. Hope you all enjoy it.

@Emberlordoffire8 - Thank you. I think part of my issue has been the fact that the primer I bought, despite saying matt on the dan is actually quite shiny. Ii makes the model look really glossy on the whole.

Do you think I should have him munching s Head instead of a leg.? I used the hand holding leg because I already have the bit. My original intent was to have him knawin* a skull like an Apple.

Worked on wendigo today. He didn’t turn out quite as well as I would have liked but I’m satisfied. I still have a little work to do. I have to finish the sword he bares in his left hand. I’m going to paint it according to a frost blade but was considering adding a touch of purple. First real painting I have done for days.

Finished Wendigo off. All that remains is Basing him. I was going to do blue highlights on the runes but when I tried it I didn’t like it at all. Also worked on the eagle head he’s standing on implan in making brass so it really stands out as a nice contrast. Comments and questions appreciated. Eventually I will get a light box.

The lighting is taking a lot away from your model for me. I can see clean lines but cannot see shading or color gradients, it looks unfinished. That said, I know your skill level and what your finished models look like. Once this is flocked and has some proper lighting we'll be able to see the awesome.

Did a bunch of work recently on my Dark Wolf Lord. Twin lightning claws jump pack, mark of Slannesh. That's just fluff wise so I can explain his terrific speed and ferocity in melee.

I like this model in many ways. The build is dynamic and interesting, the colors compliment in their contrast, and the mark of Slannesh for "counts as" stats to reflect the fluff of your character.

Thanks Skalk.

I have two more minis to paint and then the Dark Wolves are essentially done. 10 zerkers, lord w jump pack, sorcerer with jump pack and exhaulted champion. Enough for me to be able to field a unit or two of oblits with my death Guard.

It would KernalTerror. I am having to live through cold humid conditions. I'm not sure I can clear coat anything so I've been holding off. The clear coat I use cuts the wet appearance far to much for my liking.

What is the clear coat you are using? I'm looking for flat. Really flat.

That model is disturbing. Horrifying really. Moving past the 28mm scale toy soldier... if you consider that in real time, as an actual scenario, actual incident... sometimes I wish my imagination wasn't so emotive.

What a great idea for an army, and such great execution! Leg eating doesn't bother me, exterminatus bothers me. Seems so wasteful.

@ Skalk Bloodax - sorry to get back to you so Late Skalk. I use Testors dull coat. The one that comes in the small blue and white can
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Testors-Spray-Paint-Dullcote-Clear-3-oz/22056097

This stuff is amazing. I have never had an issue with frosting and it seems to always go on well. It’s great stuff. Well worth the slightly higher price tag all things taken for what they are.

The Flesh Eaters are Berzerkers in the truest sense of the word. They have lost the, selves to Khorne. It started with consuming the brains of the fallen in order to consume their memories and their spirit. Then it evolved past that to devouring their foes while swirling in Khorne red mists. While some are only given to fits of Khorne touch, the deviant space wolf gene seed and the list for battle took the warriors of the dark wolves to extremes that even slannesh would be proud of. As the lost wolves sink farther from the light of sanity and reason, they bind their faces with barbed wire, anchoring the strands at the back of their collars. This causes the wire to slash and tear fresh wounds across their faces, opening and reopening their flesh. Opening them-to Khorne will in a poor but effective substitute for the butchers nails. The longer the warriors remain in the flesh eater packs, the farther they sink from the light of reason until all that remains of them is a twisted, feral cannibal that must remain chained between battles for fear of the damage that they may do to their fellow warriors.

@kestral - thank you. I appreciate the props. I built these up to bolster my Nurgle forces, and for the sheer love of converting something. I was lacking a final Chain Ax so having a flesh eater tearing into the buffet at his feet let me bypass the need of an ax in his hand.

Thank you for the info, I'll be ordering some soon. I'm just one build away from being in full-on paint mode and part of that is finishing my models with a light-absorbing flat clear coat.

And just wow... the story line you have for your army is disturbed. The 41st millennium is a horrid and hopeless place.

Hey there.

Shaggy lama was wondering what I have been up to. As a field biologist I work long stints in the field, often without a whole lot of access to gaming and technology. Then, between jobs I’m usually working furiously on a backlog of models that I inevitably accumulate. With the latest death Guard codex I had to buy a ton of new stuff and recently picked up a few of the new Nurgle daemons.

So the past six months this is what I accomplished. This is in no particular order.
I painted a land raider, plague burst hauler and a defiler as well as finished painting a soul grinder/plague hulk torso swap for said defiler.
I weathered and added mud to all of my tanks including another landraider, predator, two rhinos and a pair of vindicator tanks.
Along the way I bought and painted about 37 cultists using ink over black and white shaded base coat. Painting went pretty quick.
I also painted 8 plague drones, 60 pox walkers and finished off 3 HQ and 10 Berzerkers for my Dark Wolves. I also made a Heretek and built and painted a few random daemon models.

Here are some better pics of some of my recent work selected at random, including two picks of my apparent crowd pleaser, the berzerker Fellrik.

Thanks Yorkright.

This summer I am spending with very little Internet and no TV. So, though I will not be updating often I have a plan. I’m going to be sculpting a greater unclean one.

To this end I have a bunch of milliput, green stuff and some sculpty. Hope to have work to show off to that end.

Thanks for stopping by.

Been working on rebuilding my mortis apostate with new minis. I sold off about half my army and am now repainting troops. I didn't want to just field a stock Lord so I sat down and I fittingly began a serious remodel. I mean how hard can it be to move the ax to just one hand and to rotate the wrists so he could hold a banner. Well. One piece became six and I am fairly happy with the outcome. Had to resculpt elbow and add some chain mail. The base was fun. I used old war games factory zombies. Ready for painting.

Been out of the hobby for a while. I sold off most of my stuff, getting down to just under half of my original Nurgle army. Now I’m just trying to get what I have leftover finished and painted. First drone. Check.

Had a lot of fun doing the rust effects and corrosion. Army painter makes a really good rust effect paint called…Dry Rust. I’m not a fan of their paints, but I bought it on a whim and it’s awesome. Two more drones to go.

This one will be done when it’s got plague spitters or whatever they are called magnetized on.

Thanks KernelTerror. I’ve been trying to up my game. Rust effect was done by sponge weathering layer after layer of colors. About 6 colors. Then washing with with Army painter string time to bind it all together. Rust stains are a mix of Vallejo skin wash, and Vallejo light rust air paint. Pussy flesh is you name it. I did use stippling with glaze thin colors to mottle the flesh a little. Also Vallejo extra opaque Warm grey paint. It’s awesome. Light light lavender shade and when applied as a glaze it looks like pale fish belly.
