I think either of those colour schemes will look great, are you going to adding battle damage or weathering to them?

My opinion, for what its worth is that the 'character' that you have modeled into them doesn't suggest new marines these look like hardened veterans. Some subtle damage/weathering might just be that thing that really makes them pop, even more that the choice of colours, if you get my meaning

Moonshine - thanks! - I'm liking the red, and that model only took about 90 minutes start to finish

Thanks, noted and agreed - this guy was a tester, didn't put any effort into battle damage, chipping, weathering but it's definitely needed - someone on Warseer suggested also implementing a contrasting color, so I'm going to just touch this guy up a little with more regal blue verdigris and eyes and see how he looks.

I think i'll have to try my hand at making some of those terminators.

They look absolutely amazing.

They are a little too bornze-y from certain angles, what about adding some colour to the shin guard to break up the bronze a bit. Have you thought about going literal with the name and adding a thorn pattern on them?

Medium of Death - Thanks!

Asylum_Inmate - I'm still not sold on the whole bronze look myself, I think it's too close to Christian Byrne's Blood Wolves, and as you said, too bronze-y in places - though I haven't added dirt and verdigris, which does tend to break up the bronze a bit more - note the bronze backpack.
As for a thorn pattern... maybe
I'm working on a green armour scheme with the bronze pads at the moment, pics soon.

Meanwhile, a second look at the Raptor variant Heretic:

Hmmm a two tone green (ie thorn pattern over darker green) might make an interestting pseudo camoflage pattern which might work out pretty cool

Haha - Warhol wasn't quite the style I was aiming for!!!

I'm so over trying to find a paint scheme atm - every time I think "this one is it!" I find something else to try...
Seriously considering just spraying them black and white zenithal (my usual starting point) ala this pic (from my Blood Ravens blog):

I could rename the Legion of Thorns the Ghost Legion!!!

I was in my local GW today and had a long conversation with one of the really good painters in there, and he pretty much said the same thing, and we did a little experiment with using tin bitz as the under-layer for shading - looks good and easy to do.

Expect a test mini will be done during the week, but I'm taking the next few hobby sessions off painting to finish the Terminator Lord and maybe another raptor or two...

I think your test minis all look a bit too bright for the subject matter, though perhaps you are going for a bright colour look. Or it could be the photos.

DaBoss - Thanks for the comments - I raise the exposure levels in Photoshop to show more details, but it does make them brighter than they are in real life.

Here's the darker bronze scheme:

So far it's the fave scheme amongst the Warseer crowd - thoughts, Dakka?

That axe is brutal looking

Have you thought about doing a mini with a bardbed or thorny whip as a weapons, would look good from a fluff standpoint

Have you done a paint test for the thorn pattern pseudo camoflage, im tempted to try that myself if you dont do it, I think it would look cool.
