Well if your going for that range, you can get an incredibly well made sword, Im talking master style. My oldest brother has a couple Samurai and a Nodachi that are made in the traditional style, folded steel many MANY times over and so on. And they are fantastic, Im not even kidding how big a difference there is between even a GOOD replica and these swords. And they are SHARP, he hasnt sharpened them since he bought them (a good 10 years ago) and they are still razor sharp.
Something to look out for though with these types of swords, so you dont get conned. The "wave" on the blade edge (I cant think of what its called) if its uniform and looks the same all the way down, its a fake, and made in a factory. That wave, is made in the heating process, the sword maker will coat that part of the edge with a slurry (I think its clay) so the edge forms differently on the molecular level, keeping it soft so it can take a razor sharp edge. Now this is done by hand, so that "wave" wont be exactly the same all the way down.
