I'm a huge WW2/Russian history buff and have been contemplating Flames of War. However, 3 main things are turning me off:

-It's still fairly expensive, though getting 4 tanks for $70 is a bargain after buying 40k....
-Most of the mini's are metal, and metal is the thing nightmares are made of
-Many models, particularly infantry, are fairly bad looking (even on the displays on their website)

40k is still a viable hobby in any regard through third party sites and ebay.

I spend my hobby budget on anything other than GW products. Currently I like Freebooter's Fate, and my gaming group is into Heavy Gear Blitz!. I also love to buy Red Box Games products, and Quar by Zombiesmith is awesome.

I stopped buying from GW years ago though, and it has almost nothing to to with prices. The company is run by an irrational executive staff that neither appreciates its customers nor carefully husbands the goodwill of consumers. GW is a drag on the fantasy/sci-fi wargaming industry that prefers to prey on its enthusiastic supporters rather than create an engaging environment that fosters both individual creativity and product sales.

GW does not deserve my business, so I give it to companies that do.

Kirasu: Have we fallen so far that we are excited that GW is giving us the opportunity to spend 58$ for JUST the rules? Surprised it's not "Dataslate: Assault Phase"

AlexHolker: "The power loader is a forklift. The public doesn't complain about a forklift not having frontal armour protecting the crew compartment because the only enemy it is designed to face is the OHSA violation."

AlexHolker: "Allow me to put it this way: Paramount is Skynet, reboots are termination attempts, and your childhood is John Connor."

Might have to give mantic's KIngs of War a fair chance... It couldnt possibly be worse than warhammer fantasy.

I'll continue to buy Forge World and GW models for my 40k collection. My next purchase will be the 6th Edition Rule Book. My next army will be Chaos Space Marines when the new codex comes out.

The 6th rulebook, and an Eldar kit here and there. I don't have a lot of money at any given time, and I am saving 100$ in birthday money to buy the 6th rulebook.

You could try reenacting, if you like Red Army.

Think I already posted, but definitely got some Warmachine stuff, will still buy Fantasy and 40k (purchases depend on upcoming codexes, as I have all the 40k stuff I need/want at the moment) and zombie survival gear. Miami isn't THAT far away from NY, all things considered...

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Ummm by my already estblished wishlist I've still got to spend about $1200 on Forgeworld Eldar stuff. However with the next year's release of Eldar being rumored I think I'm going to do all that analog. Buy, build-model-finish, buy next one. Assorted Necron and Dark Angel stuff more immediately.

Outside of GW I'll say Heroclix is definitely getting some money, DiabloIII, assorted small batch miniatures I find myself liking (AoW, Raging Heroes, SodaPop, CMON).

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!

Im still going to give GW my money, I was thinking about getting back into playing 40k and a new edition seems like the ideal time.
I have also been saving up to add some new stuff to my collection if we get a new codex release as well !!

1. Plastic Soldier Company, Peter Pig, Game Models, Forged In Battles, etc., etc.
2. Plastic Soldier Company. Although I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that. Their models are usually fairly free of flash and mold lines, and it's not like you'll be doing much converting in a 15mm Historical game. Most of the vehicles are metal/resin hybrids.
3. 'Bad looking' may be just coming from a Heroic 28mm/32mm to 15mm. When it comes to infantry bases, it's the scene that the base is making that's important, not so much the miniatures themselves.

You can also look at Warlord Game's upcoming ruleset, Bolt Action, for 28mm games, or Battlegroup Kursk, which is 20mm and will be focusing on the Eastern Front when it first comes out. You can see an AAR down in the Other Historical Wargames subforum.

I wont be spending anymore on GW.
I'm done buying models for my Orks. I wont be buying any of the fliers.
This hobby will now be about painting up the last of my units, and playing.
Next, I may be picking up a PP summer sales army, or better yet, shifting my spending over to a new hobby.
GW got a full year and a half of my extra cash, and how they don't get anymore.

I might buy the odd model here and there or a vehicle kit if it looks interesting. Also paints. I'd like to complete my space marine army, mainly as a massive collection and I've kind of had a desire to own one of every model, including 'crappy' choices like whirlwinds etc.

Mostly into Infinity at the moment, and I don't see that slowing down.

Maybe a little more Malifaux. And then just oddball miniatures that strike my fancy.

The land of cotton.

I'll be spending my hobby dollars on Dust Warfare, Firestorm Armada, and Dark Age. Oh, and Zombie dice, which is a fantastic and fast dice game.

I might get the 40K 6th edition rulebook as I like to play Apocalypse and the occasional 40K game, but it's going to be a cold day in Hades before I sink any heavy hobby dollars into GW again.

When the embargo began (We usually live in New Zealand). My brother, missus and I all jumped over to warmahordes and bought 3 armies. We Still have our 40k army but We haven't bought anything new since the embargo. We have put all our hobby money into expanding our warmahordes armies. We are really loving the game.

The only thing that will get me to spend money on 40k again is if they release a new SOB codex and PLASTIC troops. Even then I would never spend a dollar locally unless they did something about the price discrepancy,

Since all the other price hike threads seem to be locked I'll ask here.

Will the price for the paints increase?

I have tons of stuff on my back order, basically items I would love to have but didn't have use for.

Game wise Im set for warhammer with 16 armies, enough to last me for years.

So now I'll "collect" the stuff I like.

Reaper
Infinity
Dust Tactics

I would have gone with warmachine as there is FLGS that love to have me hop on board.
Unfortunately Im not touching any army related thingy unless I can use plastic cement.

More GW stuff.

Yeah, sure, it'll be painful. But I love the universe, and I like the game.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.
