The legs and chassis are from the soul grinder kit, just the turret is from the onager. The legs of the onager have about half the footprint size, which is unfortunate as I was hoping I could use them to convert a third grinder.

Honestly? The head thing in the front just feels....stuck on. It doesn't match the aesthetic of the rest of it, either. I think it would be better without that. Love the fact that you're using a Skaven head for the gunner, though!

currently it is just stuck on with tack. I havnt done any work to meld it into the front of the turret, it definitly needs a shield head-plate or something. In the flesh, I'm quite happy with the mouthy bit and the hunched beetle shape it gives .

Hey guys, small non-chaos update.
My gaming group started playing Necromunda (Yaktribe community edition and tools are FANTASTIC), and it was a perfect excuse for me to pick up the genestealer cult from the overkill box. I love the mining/space suit thing they have going on, and wanted to go whole hog on the xenomorph theme. Here's a Juve I did as a test model. The helmet (needs to be glued still) and fitting collar are from Bombshell miniatures, and are fun little bits.

Here's the sort of colour theme I was using as inspiration.
Spoiler:

Also, apologies for my images being down. My web server is having some reworks at the moment.

I still gotta fix my webhosting, so a bunch of earlier images ares still down.

But here's some new critters I've been finishing for a narrative tournament in November.

I made a punchy Bloodthirster. I needed something that didn't have massive wings sticking out the back so it would fit into my carrying case easier. Made from the AoS brute thing, some deamonprince wings (and greenstuff), bloodthirster head, and some cyghor hands.
I will call him Lil Mac, and he will KO some knights with his D-strength fisticuffs.

Soul Grinder 2 of 3 is completed (that grinder formation was too much for me to resist making more angry spider bots)

Man, this thread never fails to amaze! The lesser Brass Scorpion is simply amazing, reading as a Khornate war engine while also somehow challenging the look and feel of an apocalyptic early 20th century war machine: As if Hieronymus Bosch had been painting a hellish version of World War I.

The daemonic brawler is also a very cool conversion, although my one nitpick is that he is really a bit too small to count as a - modern - Bloodthirster.

But anyway, incredible stuff -- as usual!

Thanks for the comments guys, I've been pretty happy with these last few paints (whose models have been sitting around in various forms for months)

I'm not too worried about the size of the bloodthirster, as his body-mass is about the same as the official kit, he's just a little more squat and lacks the space-hogging wingspan (which dont count for LoS anyway). The folks that I game with aren't sticklers, and I'm pretty generous with my conversions LoS (doubly so for things that are supposed to be flying around)

Now for even more angry robots!
Just finished up my first of three mayhem pack dreadbrutes, with this one being a bit more traditional walking toaster. I always thought the bloodangle librarian dread had a cool (and much more practical looking) spear piston thing, so I managed to nab one from a bits site. The rest are assorted chaosy gribblies, including the helbrute kit autocannons, bloodthirster horns, and knight shield for the faceplate.

Dude, the I love the Blood Thirster and the 'lesser' brass scorpion.

Great work on the dread too, nice use of th BA bits.

The new Dread's looking excellent!

As for the Bloodthirster, don't get me wrong: I wasn't talking about rules lawyering at all, because that has never really mattered to me. But from a purely aesthetic perspective, he seems a bit too chubby for a Bloodthirster -- but that's just my personal taste, mind you.

Anyway, please keep updating ASAP, because this thread always blows my socks off!

Eww... That pile of goreslicked bodies on top of the brass scorpion truly is horrifying and a bit disturbing; in the best of ways of course.

It's always hard to have that level of gore but avoid it looking silly, but I guess it's only reasonable that someone named McGibs can pull it off

BTW. A lot of the pictures on previous pages don't pop up for me. Don't know if it's my old piece of crappy hardware or if the links are broken somehow.

My webhost went down some time ago, and I just havnt gotten around to getting it back up and running yet, or shifting all the images over to my dakka gallery.

My favorite thing about 40k is how over the top dumb it is, so the ludicrous amount of gore is very intentionally supposed to be silly. Because 40k is silly.

I finished my second of three Dreadbrutes for my mayhem pack. Grabbed this DV brute for peanuts off a bitz site, but like most people thought the pose was pretty goofy with the raised hand. So I replaced it entirely with the power scourge (an awesome looking weapon) from the actual helbrute kit and beefed up the multamelta a bit with a leman russ sponson and spotlight. I know the "mutated dreadnought" is sort of hit or miss with some people, but I decided to lean into it and basically just make an armoured super chaos-spawn instead of anything resembling an actual dread.

The third is very similar to this cyclops one, as I made it from the helbrute kit. He's got a big sword and a plasmacannon though.

Took a little break from my chaos horde and finished up all the minis for the Level 7: Omega Protocol board game (a great little dungeon crawler, in the vein of X-COM meets Left4Dead)

The models are crappy soft plastic monoposes, so I didn't put too much time into the enemy models (basecoat and wash). The player commandos I did some small conversions and some highlights. All in all, they look alright from gaming distance and the whole thing is finally a nice complete set.
Now to buy the expansion...

Some updates!

Dreadclaw: easy conversion from a standard droppod.

Centigor bikers: some of the oldest models I converted for my chaos army years ago, finally got a coat of paint!

Stalk Tank Soul Grinder: the last of my three soul grinders for their formation. Had a lot of fun with this one, making use of the awesome Onager dunecrawler and bloodchariot mouth...thing.

And all three together, in their creepy crawly glory. These are going to be hell to transport.

That Stalk Tank is a fantastic conversion. Projects like this are part of what keeps me staying with the 40K hobby despite the game's shortcomings. The imagination and execution at work here are both impressive.

Thanks! Converting models is really my main interest for 40k, and the thing that keeps me coming back again and again.

As an aside, I've also been playing some Frostgrave and couldnt resist making a nefarious Dark Wizard and his motley crew of henchmen. I was going for a sort of 80's fantasy movie vibe (Labyrinth, Legend, Willow,), so I also made a muppet... gollum... thing.
These are all converted from various WFB bits I had kicking around (though the official Frostgrave minis are pretty great!). Most of the henchmen are Britonian Men at Arms, and the sorcerer is a high elf fancypants with some headswapping.
