I'm guessing that means either officers or logistics support. Either way, I'm keen.

Update #7 Sep 19 2014

"Mecha" week draws to an end...

..... wow, and what a week it was! The sheer amount of interest and positive feedback was totally overwhelming. Glad we have come prepared and most of the assets have been ready on the start (sculpted) - some even in production. On my behalf I'm happy that I have prepared a number of templates that allow me to update the main site quickly. And mind we're showing new stuff almost every day - something that you don't see often.
Renders of the sculpted items proved to be a bottleneck tough - I made some prior to campaign, but items unlock so quickly . It is tricky to catch up - mind that 5 seconds (!) of turntable animation usually takes over 5 hours of render time(!). I'm considering making much less time consuming OpenGL movies instead - but I guess I'm getting into technical details that may not interest you much . You want meat !

As mentioned this week we concentrated on vehicles and mechanic assets. With those mostly done we're moving to units - starting from Monday.
What then? Hehehe - if you look at the goals tree diagram you'll notice there's a certain aspect present in every army missing. That's what's coming next (yeah, I know I'm a tease ).

So I am guessing the 40k comparison in units is as follows;

Troops

Gobbo Troopers = Gretchin
Orc Shooters = Boyz with Shootas
Melee Orcs = Boyz with Sluggas & Choppas

Elites

Flamethrowers = Burna Boyz
Tank Hunters = Tankbustas
Orc Veterans = Nobz
Exosuit Orcs = Mega Nobz
Orc Commando = Kommandos

Fast Attack

M3 Halftrack = Trukk
Airborne Squad = Storm Boyz
Aerocycle = Deffkoptas
Plane = Dakkajet/Burna Bomba/Blitzer Bomba
Orc Bikers = Warbikers
Willy's Jeep = Warbuggies

Heavy Support

Goblin Tanks = Grot Tanks
Artillery = Mek Guns
Big Truck = Battlewagon
Biped Tank = Deff Dread
Small Walkers = Killa Kans
Mobile Fortress Clankers = Gorkanaut/Morkanaut?
Special Weapons Team = Lootas/Flashgitz?

Units I don't know what they'll be used for -

Sherman

What's missing from the Ork Codex

HQ (minus special characters)-
Warboss, Weirdboy, Mek, Big Mek, Painboy

Troops -
Runtherd

Fast Attack -
SKorcha, Wartrakk

Superheavy -
Stompa

Am I pretty much right about all this stuff? It's my best guess as I don't play 40k, but these models make it sorely tempting (or use them for Warpath whenever Mantic gets that done).

Orks are always worth having even if you don't game (at least IMHO)

Orc Medics would be a big hit with me for their next reveal, but who knows. we'll have to wait and see

I think I might be sorely disappointed if the Commandos don't look like the guys from the Dirty Dozen (the major players that is - Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Jim Brown, John Cassavetes, Richard Jaeckel, Telly Savalas, Donald Sutherland, Clint Walker). I think that would be damn awesome to pull off!

That would be awsome!

Out of interest, why are the bodies to be made of metal and not resin? I thought you do the resin casting in-house as well? I am a metal fan, but not so much for multipart figures, and it will make a huge difference for shipping...

I think it's to do with being able to cast stuff in quantities fast enough (and on budget)

you can get plenty of heads/arms in a resin mould so they can afford to have lots to enable quick casting,

Orc bodies would require a larger mould (volume wise) for a single body meaning either much slower casting or higher costs as you end up with lots of big (reletivly) moulds needing frequent replacements

Yeah that was my thinking as well.

I'd split an order with you Azazelx, but I think by the time it got here and was split and sent to you (I am guessing you are from the Eastern States), it would likely be the same postage price anyway! Oh well. Still really conflicted about whether to go in on this or not...

Hrmm... I would think they're more mechanised dudes with an armour back-up for them

New YouTube video. There's an amazing melee orc with two axes at the end.

And a render of the Artillery. There seem to be a couple of different models, both direct fire field guns. Can't place exactly what they are based on, but they look pretty cool.

That axe orc is awesome.

I'm not in the market for a lot of orcs at the moment but if some of the bits were available separately I'd pick them up for my deadzone meets 40k marauder conversion

There seem to be several different versions of most of these models being shown. Are they meant to show off alternative designs of which we can only expect to see one actually produced, different ways of assembling the kit or entirely separate models which we will be able to choose between?

Loving the close combat orc and great to see casting has already started. I'll be upping my backing amount by at least double on the 3rd, when I get my next paycheck.

Check out Maxmini , Kromlech and Puppetswar for great conversion bits!

I would suggest a series of small walkers piloted by grots with possibly one ballistic weapon and one close combat weapon as my prediction. but very very pretty and in MaxMini style.

Concept art for the small 'walker'. Totally not what I was expecting, but kind of fun.

I think I'd like it better if it was even more like an M3 Lee. Maybe replace the right arm with a sponson gun mount.

I dropped my pledge, really didn't feel like there was a point since you weren't getting anything extra from doing the KS> I don't have the funds to start a complete ork force right now so it didn't seemed worth it

I'd say the 'extra' in this one will be a lower price than we'll see at retail (assuming all of it gets there),

but if you're not feeling the project is for you dropping it is the right thing to do. KS projects you really want are stressful enough to wait for, if you're not sure you actually want what's coming it would be a lot worse

I'm pretty sure that getting the models through kickstarter will be cheaper than buying them at retail prices later. Kromlech charge much more for similar figures produced under similar conditions.

No I'm well aware of that. Here are my thoughts:

1)If I want an ork army I want them to be all themed the same, I don't want to be mixing these minis with GW minis
2) At the moment I don't have the funds to build a complete Ork army right now
3) If I'm not getting a full army (only $100 worth or so) why should I spend that money now if I'm no getting anything extra? as opposed save it and then get a full army all at once.

Hello Przemas,

As I asked this on the KS comments place and this most likely is overlooked (as the amount of comments went fast); Will there be some KS-exclusive stuff to be had? As said in the comments section; I think having some KS -exclusive stuff would persuade people to pledge faster as well as pledge more. Furthermore it will add another reason to pledge other than the price-difference with retail.

Looking forward to the render.

Melee orcs preview. Nice dynamic poses, great selection of gear and some very sweet details; I love the orc with the upside-down helmet and the one with a weaponised shovel.

I think I'll use these guys as Kommandos; they look quite sneaky and have plenty of equipment on them.

Those are some beautiful orcs.

I agree with thinking they'd make great kommandos (I'll probably use a couple as such), but I do have one complaint. They're -all- wielding dual hand weapons. A couple being that way would be awesome.. But then, on the flip-side, having a few with a pistol or two would also be great.

That's just a small nit to pick though. Like I said they're beautiful, and I'm definitely going in on this.

I see a couple of holstered pistols, but yes, it does seem like a bit of an omission.

Maybe it's because the 1911 just doesn't look very orcish.
