Very nice reds! It's always tricky highlighting red without it going pink/orange, but you've certainly got the hang of it!

been a bit remiss with updates of late. Mostly bcs been painting away like a lunatic! Made full use of all the extra free time I had due to the MERS scare over here in SK (our school closed for 2 weeks) and the also the missus was away in OZ for 10 days. The Chosen are just about finished!!! Well.....they were pretty much totally finished and then the devil that is Purity Seal took a giant flying dump on me when I went to spray seal the finished squad........absolutely gutting when that happens.....something like 40-50 hours of work just turns to crap in front of your eyes. Lots of frantic searching across Dakka and the interweberies ensued.....the most common (succeeding) solution I came accross seems to be the respray them with a gloss varnish and then paint with a matt varnish after. The only gloss spray I could find (hobby stuff isn't always the easiest to find out here) is quite thick and laquery when spray on though. However, the matt paint on varnish I found seems to do the trick without the need to spray the gloss first. Some things need to be retouched and rehighlighted after but they're looking well defrosted now. This is what the purity seal did and bear in mind it was only a very light passing coat I sprayed on

I believe most people agree its something to do with humidity on the day you spray, if its humid it will frost up, tho i could be wrong.

However, I used to have the same problem until i started sealing models with pots of varnish through an airbrush, its never happened since !

Good work matey !

Ouch - that's painful!

I use either hardware store sprays - clear polyurethane in Matt, Satin or Gloss depending on what I'm doing (or a combo).

Also, from model stores - Testor's Dullcote works a treat as pretty much the best flat matt varnish/topcoat you can get. I'd imagine Korea is well-serviced for non-GW modelling hobby supplies?

not so much Az. Finding th right modeling supplies can be a right bugger over here at times. Usually I can find something 'that'll do' but varnishh wise.......not so good

Hi Mate, I have only now become aware of your plogs and have managed to catch up on them. Really high quality work that you do. Love the Hellbrute, the choice of color and effect on the pilot is one of the best ideas I have seen. Looking forward to more work.

Cheers Archer. The Helbrute was the first big fig I painted last December. Still happy with him but want to go back and 'fix' a few things. Definitely want to weather him up a lot more. I'll get around to it

Interested to see if you can pull off the Librarian. I'm sure you can, but I have always felt that model was a bit of a nightmare to get good results on.

Yeah - know what you mean - he's the weakest of the figs in an otherwise awesome boxed set. I'm really not keen on him at all. The kerchief he has really bugs me. His face as well....however, we'll see what we can do. Gonna go for a darker, more deep blue rather than the bright Ultrasmurf blue that normally gets used. Fingers crossed. Am looking forward to doing Kranon though. Stunning sculpt

Oh yeah, Kranon is a work of art. One of the nicest plastic minis I've ever worked on. Your take on him should be exceptional (no pressure! )

This is an old one. First one I made on Dakka nearly one year ago when I got back into painting figs. It's been a tocuh neglected of late in favour of the AdMech - lol

I painted that Libby (his name is Turmiel, by the way) with Kantor blue instead of the brighter blue myself. I don't hate the sculpt as much as many people, in fact I kinda like it! I'll spare you any pics, as I didn't do very well with him...

Aye - that's the way I was thinking of going. Much prefer the dark grey blue tones. He's not the worst just a bit meh compared to the rest of the box and the kerchief does get on my......nerves a bit. lol

That is such a great chaos lord sculpt. Not sure I am too familiar with the librarian. You are such a tease to have some of the parts in the background of these photos.

Blues and greens you say? Sounds like alpha legion heresy to me.

The blue is looking really good. Vibrant without looking like an ultramarine.

Hahaha - must try out that blue/green alpha metalic at some point.

Blue on the lib. came out well I think. Might give it another glaze but happy with it. Really didnt want it to come out all Ultrasmurfy blue.

The blue looks pretty good to me. I don't think it needs anything. Certainly doesn't just look like Ultrasmurfs!
