Are you going with the Crimson Slaughter scheme? Or something different?

I did the Helbrute up Crimson Slaughter style so I reckon I'll stick with it. Going with the fluff. I need some practice with reds so that'll do nicely to get me some paint time doing reds

Yeah I love the name of the Helbrute for DV. Mortis Metalikus. If you've listened to Ascension of Balthasar you'll know why the Dark Angels hate Kranon and his Crimson Slaughter warband.

haha - cheers!! Last time I painted was way back in 2003 or 4 I think. Moved to Korea in 2005. Zero GW presence here at the that time. Still pretty light on the ground with 1 shop for ohhh - about 50+ million people!!! lmao

Thx P. Gonna do one a little higher for the Sgt. Have him atop some rubble or collapsed wall or somesuch. Still trying to think was colour to do his surplice/tabard....thinking a nice deep red/wine colour.... needs to fit in with the overall scheme....I'm so close to lopping off those damnable wings of his though lol

And aye - 'Helbrute' is a cracking name for MM - seriously awesome.....so much better than just Chaos Dreadnaught. Chaos does get some pretty tidy names though eh?!! Although the Mutilators kinda ruin it with what have to be the nastiest sculpts I think I've seen.

Thnks fella. Just thought I pop it up in case anyone found it useful. Realy simple to do and cheap! The sheets of cobble street cost me about 80c each at a local art shop and the stones and gravel came from a nearby riverbank!!!

And there we go. Brother Varhmiel all done, based and a few better pics taken. Bloody photos always show up flaws otherwise unseen ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Ah well - happy with the fella

Onto the penultimate member of the squad. Vet Sgt Barachiel. I love the upraised arm on this guy; get to see more of the plates and working of the term armour than usual. His right greave is gorgeous too - gonna give that some special attention. Really nice fig overall. Still not a fan of the wings but decided not to lop them off. Lol

Looking good man! Your skills are refined that your painting is neat and clean. I stand by my previous statement of adding more water to your mixes It may at first set you back as it takes getting used to, but before long your painting will jump to the next level. Either way, keep it up!! And those cultists are really nice especially!!

Vet Sgt Barachiel all done, based and sealed Photos haven't really shown up the blue hue to the power sword as well as it looks irl though. Spent a while fiddling with getting it just right in metallics as I'm really not that much of a fan of nmm power swords (or in general tbh). Still - happy happy with the guy. Onto Brother Narcariel next - the last of the DV Deathwing squad

Few days to go to finaih up this last Deathwing terminator. Things are a bit mad here at the minute with wedding preps n that. Up at 6am this morning to sneak a bit of painting in while the fiancee slept. Decided to throw together a wee backdrop thingy for the sqaud to slot into. Just the hell of it like lol

What's the walls made out of?

Wall is made of foamboard which has a thin cork top layer

Display dio is looking nice!

Cheers Az - trying to get it painted up as quick as poss. Base coats down and the figs look great it in. Never made a display thingy before so rather happy with it

Cheers fella. Yeah - I'm a bit of a sucker for the fluff. Like to try and add a little something something in to link the figs to any backstory etc - ie the black pauldron on one of the figs. The display scene will have a wee fluff easter egg in it too - a 'fluffter egg' if you will lol

And ........DONE!!! Squad Barachiel is now finished and their display scene thingy is also done! Phew. Really chuffed how it came out Should add - the defaced propaganda poster is not my own design but 'borrowed' from Eternal Hunt's blog. Cracking blog btw - well rec/mnd. Photo time!!!! First up the finished display. Hope you like it

Actually a lot quicker and easier than it looks. Although doing all the rubble on the ground was a bit of a pain in the ass!!

Thx very much The posters I got from another blog (eternalhunt's) shrank them and printed on recycled parer and then aged with inks. All in all really happy how it turned out

Man! Those models look great! I especially like the lighter colors on the cultists. Great stuff, diorama looks stellar too.
