That ‘chief looks great! The weathering is spot on. Well used, but not overly abused.
For my own part, after getting a really nice red out of one of the contrast reds on a smaller mech, I slathered it all over my spider mech and got all despondent at the blotchiness on the larger surfaces. So I got the airbrush out and went over the upper surfaces with something a bit smoother. The yellow highlight is probably a bit too overdone, but it looks much better than it did. Now to go back over the blacks again and then a few details. It can be rescued!

Well, I've had a mini-disaster. My model is finished, except for the fact that I planned to do a nice snowy base and my Vallejo Ground Texture snow is unfortunately all dried up and ruined. Completely unusable. And I won't have a chance to get back to the FLGS to get more until the weekend at the earliest. I guess I'll have to submit my model on a fairly plain muddy base instead, and add snow at some point in the future so it matches the rest of my Wolves. I'll do pics tomorrow most likely.

As promised, here are the final pics of my Space Wolves Redemptor Dreadnought:
Other than the base, which was supposed to have snow on it, I'm extremely happy with how this model turned out. It was a lot of fun to work on! I've always loved Space Marine Dreadnoughts, and the Redemptor is no exception. It certainly has a big enough gun for this month's theme, I think. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else submits here in the waning hours of the challenge!

It looks amazing there. I almost always hate kits by the time I finish them so I understand that part but it's really cool looking. The weathering contrasted with the white really pops.
How did you do it?

@401st: Wow, what a beast of a tank! Love the red dust weathering on the white, and the base and 'action pose' gunner in the turret really place it in a vivid scene!
@Zergsmasher: I find a good quick snow effect can be had with some bicarbonate of soda and PVA, if you have any to hand. Probably not as good as the Vallejo stuff, but it works well enough ina pinch. The key is to apply the PVA then the bicarb, as mixing them together before application can cause the PVA to thicken and go lumpy (which, in and of itself, is a good hack for quicly texturing flat bases!)

I just finished - waiting for daylight to take photos...
pic with current light...
Spoiler:
EDIT:
Final pics..
Spoiler:
Stuff about the berlin brigade pattern..
Spoiler:
The original pattern was created for the cheiftan tank but has been applied to other vehicles without much alteration - this wasn't really possible for a leman russ because of the height of the applicable paneling.
The pattern is comprised of 18" blocks of three colours to match typical materials found on a berlin strasse - concrete (off white), brickwork (brown) and glass (blue-grey).
These colours were thermally matched to the materials they were echoing so the paints would have different thermal impressions, further hampering recognition.
the pattern was keyed to work best against single apeture optics like gun sights and thermal imaging systems which were much more primitive then (no edge recognition/highlighting software)
the secondary issue then, was the recessive parts of the hull/track components which tend to reveal the edges of those components.
What i did is a modified version of berlin brigade urban camo but i did take inspiration from other applications of the pattern which had to account for other shapes.
Standard cheiftan in urban camo pattern...
This m113 gave some inspiration for how to deal with downward sloped surfaces on corners....
As did this cheiftan ARRV...
And here's how the pattern looked in the wild..

Wow looking through the entries this month its going to be a fun voting round
Here are the final pics of my Ork Artillery Big Gun Conversion.
I really had a lot of fun with this one and it reminded me of the stuff I used to do several years ago BC (Before Children), took me a lot of time and effort but I'm really happy with the results, it is definitely one of my biggest conversions to date up there with the dreadknight, Santa, X-wing and AA gun on a stegadon. I mounted the main body of the gun so it can rotate smoothly 360 degrees and also be removed if needed for transport, the loading hatch at the back can be placed open or closed and the chains + hoist can be removed if required (its a pain in the arse threading them through the support loops and grot hands again so I didn't do that for the photos)
I'm actually going to enter this into my local gaming stores painting competition as well.

Thanks Geifer! I think the Fire Dragon symbol on the head/helmet helped a lot to knock that yellow back. I just wish I could have got an opposing mini or two painted to show the scale of the Wraithlord... and of course that massive firepike!
Only six more Wraithlord conversions to paint! ^_^'
