Scrapwalkers!

Ok, that's TONS better than Cawdor horsiemen as I suspected.

Absolutely love 'em.

I like them.

But GW is really stuck on this 'delusional knights' kick.

Frag Lance: Range 2"/Blast 3".

Uh-oh!

[EDIT]: There also appear to be quite a few different weapon options, which is even better.

I've liked most of the Ash Waste kits, but these are without about the best so far.

[EDIT 2]: "The first three books..."

Wait, there's more than 3?

GW really pushing the narrative stuff. I don't mind so much; it's one less strain on my wallet! A lot of players are more interested in narrative stuff, so this will be great for them.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Is this a new trend by GW?

First the Cthonian Berserks and now these Eightbound and Jakhals.

"I'm going to show how angry and good at close combat I am by taking off my armor and clothes to show off my bulging oiled up muscles"

I dunno. Sounds pretty Slaaneshi to me.

'They put engines on space hulks to go recover... something.'

Enthralling.

So... pages 50-86 are rules for boarding actions. Which aren't for matched play. Or... any sort of play, actually. Just their own rules which aren't assigned to their weird divisive categories.

Which makes me wonder how they're squeezing 4 books out of this. (Winter to late spring)

So the guy everyone thought was a dark mech character is actually an independent daemon demi-god of the forge.

Huh.

I'd say he's better than Dark Mechanicus...which we'll probably get eventually. An agent of the Forge of Souls, and Chaos Undivided.

I'm excited to see how angry people get about his lore. Which actually hearkens back to the original Realm of Chaos books (Where in book 2 they actually generated a minor chaos power as an example), rather than the current '4 gods, (almost) no undivided, final destination.'

Model doesn't do much for me. I can see what they're going with it, but its almost devolves into a pile of over-used tropes from the current chaos line and Warmachine Cryx.

Honestly, kinda boring on his own? Dark Mech woulda been neater, this guy feels like he's gonna get forgotten.

Well, that's it, barring a cheeky preview trailer that shows nothing. (And there wasn't one of those)

Cawdor wins.

Even a 'more complete' summary of arks of omen (with a table of contents) is still an empty void of nothing. Abaddon, forever looking for his next macguffin.

Nope. They're still not talking about systems they didn't advertise beforehand, just like all the other previews this year.

I kind of stopped paying attention to their day to day announcements. But I thought this one was billed as "something for everyone"

I like the Arkifane. Proper creepy. I'd leave the "wings" off though, personally.

Nope. Even in the live video article itself:
A huge host of reveals are incoming right now for Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer Underworlds, and Necromunda.

They don't do 'something for everyone' They do an hour long show, and the presenters tend to yammer. They can't cover everything, and they don't ever try (and 'huge host' is honestly a little stretchy with the truth, quite frankly)

What looks boring to me was the use of generic Chaos Terminators for World Eaters. While great models they just don't fit the new aestetic GW pushing for WE. Anyone who markes some decent stand in or conversion parts will make a killing.

While it was sort of expected from all the rumors, I am sad that the WE stuff came true.

Not having unique cult terminators really sucks. Seems like that should be the bare minimum for a Cult Faction launch....

Arkifane and lore drops were very cool. Lays the groundwork for Dark Mech in the future. Going to guess that's either going to be one of the 10th starter factions or a 10th release.

New Omens may have Nids in the final book to lead into 10th as well if the rumors there hold up.

Thing is, they can just sell you the new WE models, and their book, invalidate it all for 10 E as some rumors suggest an 8th Ed style index reboot, then do a wave two with more new models, including cult termies and sell you another book. It's been their whole MO for years now.

He basically is the Belakor for dark mechanicus is the vibe I get. IE independent of the four gods with desires to be his own major god.

in the computer?

Vashtorr's appearance doesn't fit his lore.

Engineers in 40k usually have multiple appendages tipped with tools coming off them. This indicates their need for their toolkits to be on hand for their engineering needs. It's always function over form for 40k engineers, they'll willingly look like weird mechanical monstrosities if it means they can work more efficiently.

Vashtorr has none of that, he's just a daemon prince made out of mechanical parts. Nothing about him says "i toil in a workshop all day", he looks more like a dark mechanicus war construct purposefully created to be a host for a daemon - especially with the skin growing over the mechanical substructure of the model.

It's a cool design, but the lore doesn't fit.

Cawdor and Vashtorr the winners for me.

As for his Lore? Dammit Jim, he’s a Demi-god, not an engineer. He’s not Dark Mechanicum. He’s independent.

I might be picking up the model, because it’s gorgeous. Plus wide open for conversion and scratch build, given he forms a physical form only when necessary.
