I noticed someone here discussing airbrushes, and someone commenting that you should always buy the most expensive one you can afford.
I disagree with this. Although I'm usually the one to say that it's worth paying the extra $$ to get a quality/respected brand, my own recent experience with this is slightly contrary to that sentiment.
First airbrush I bought cost around $120 bucks, a branded brush that came with no spare parts whatsoever. While using it, I kept getting blockages, spitting (even when thinning my paints to the extent that I had no coverage whatsoever) and it was hell to clean. Then about a month ago, I managed to "break" the nozzle while trying to unscrew it for a thorough clean. I went to the store where I bought it (a good 1hr drive) to get replacements, but they were sold out. At that point I'd just started a new project and was really impatient to get going, so on the way home, I went to a discount tool-shop (less than 30 minutes from my house) and bought a $60 brush. Same nozzle size, and it came with spare parts. When I came home to try it out I had really low expectations of it, but I was really very pleasantly surprised. No blockages and no spitting even after using it for a long time, and cleanup was at least half the effort. Where the old, expensive one is better, is in detail painting, as the paint-flow control is somewhat better. But I can still paint quite small details with the cheapo brush.

I've long thought about doing a Necromunda gang. Unfortunately, no one around here plays. But if I were to do one... I'd have to play the fuzz. Arbites all the way. I've always been fascinated by the Adeptus Arbites. I even bought that Arbites omnibus... and made it thru the first book. I may try the next one some day to see if gets better.

He could draw massive fore for my other arbites, and his shout would be on his base for all to see, "I am The Law!!"

Thanks guys. I'll have a bit of a delay I'm afraid. I'm sick, and if I don't feel better by friday the doctor will probably admit me to the hospital for pneumonia. Bad case of Bronchitis.

Valhalla, I just got the Arbites trilogy paperback yesterday along with the newest Dan Abnett: Pariah. I'll probably read it soon after Pariah.
Well, I'll read bits between drug/fever-induced naps anyways

I too have just been in hospital with pnuemonia and asthma+Bronchitis not fun, it put my posting of the Golden Bathtub prizes back a while, I should get to it today fingers crossed! then on to painting that tank of mine

Yeah, I slept about 18 hours yesterday, I'll probably doze again soon, codeine has that effect Automatically Appended Next Post: @SgtSixkilla- you are right, before you buy an airbrush you need to decide on a General Purpose AB or a detail AB. I'd suggest a GP brush first, then expand onto a detail AB when you are ready. They may look similar, but as shown in my previously posted needle/nozzle photo, paint has to be carefully manipulated to spray through a tiny detail AB nozzle. Pressure is also super important, since ideally, you want the atomization set so that the paint doesn't dry before it hits the surface but also isn't too wet that it runs.

I REALLY don't want to be admitted to the hospital, it sounds like it will suck any way you look at it. I think I'm getting better, but I dunno, I've slept the last three days away, I don't know much at all other than the book Pariah, which I am about to finish.
