Just sketched a quick idea I had and here it is, drawing inspiration from the hover throne, but making it bigger. How about this for a Sky Chariot?

Perhaps it would have an area for the "Lych-like guards" to stand? So that the Lord is being guarded even in the air?

The seated Lord is a "popular" conversion and if the size is right maybe I can upgrade my destroyer Lord to a Sky Chariot Lord:

I've been thinking of doing something similar, but with the lord surfing the back of the destroyer body and with a warrior grafted as a charioteer.

That too is awesome but I honestly expect a large flyer of some sort has the chariot IMO.

I don't like niether the destroyer-based "chariot" idea nor the barge, the whole fun with necrons was that they look a little like undead but are different and has their own style, not any anctient-Egyptian nor Moldavian-vampiric dracula style, they got the atmosphere with their emerald details and huge greenish flying ziggurat of doom, their symbiosis withe their vehicles as the destroyers ceased to be guys on wierd jetbikes and necron was merged with his platform and weaponary, i hate the idea of lord sitting on the destroyers body, why the hell should he as he may join one and have 100% controll upon it...
As for the barge, i don't like the idea of vehicle that looks like a giant penis with coffin-shaped jet nozzle and section view...
I would love to see necrons getting a real flyer, maybe something connected in shape with their gothic style crescent shaped flyer with necron pilot merged with the mashine by the warren of wires...

Not exactly, somethig similar, but with pilot more in the penitent engine/destroyer way,and also i would pick the shape closer to the tomb ship than the jackall/dirge .

Aye that would probably suit the necron theme more the word chariot makes me feel like it can transport for some reason though bizarrely.

The word chariot sound tomb king-esque and if they make necrons tomb kings in space i will shoot myself...
anyway Chariot might be also their destroyers body so not necessary some chariot in exact meaning of the word...

I think the book refers to it has a 'sky chariot' that the Lord wishes to use but can not that is all we know and thats assuming that the book FoD is the future of Necrons. In a few sci fi realms people refer to some airborne craft has chariots without them being chariots at all but I do not think you need to worry about the necron image changing to more tomb king like, the image most people have of Necrons is monoliths and hordes of warriors and from what people have heard in rumours they are not changing dramatically.

Well imho while i love the design of the funeral barge (not to mention the incredible detail of the artwork), it doesn't seem very much like a flier to me, although with their superior tech Necrons might not actually need a flier 'shape' to actually get airborne.
On the other hand, Skeletor's barge (blast from the past lol) is a pretty nice idea as well...although maybe the seat could be left out, i don't know. Necrons should be merged with their ships and vehicles rather than seated on them. Always imho.

Samrtk's chariot looks vaguely eldar or star wars-y. I really like that funeral barge thing. Who made that model, and what did they use?

So, they finally put a mobile oppression throne in 40k.

I would rather have an upright phallic war machine that fires pie plates from the tip. Just saying.

BTW, and a little OT, I enjoy the fact that this whole thread has evolved from 'are there going to be Necrons coming in the next few months?' to 'what's new with the Necrons coming in a few months?' Lovely.

Well one person implied the sky chariot or something of the sort would come so people are simply discussing the possibilities. discussing the when at the moment would be repeating ourselves more so!

Necrons and a chariot? NO WAY! Necrons are too cool for chariots XD if Necrons would ever go airborne, they would definatly use their destroyer like kin, so maybe a more larger version of a destroyer or maybe some sphere like attack craft.

Necrons...too sexy for their chariots...

Hopefully we will find out in a week or two if Necrons are getting released in August, at the expense of a flyer related expansion.

Every day I check my mail, hoping that there is a mail about necrons, somehow I'm also not too much looking forward to the mail as it would tell me to wait just that month longer -.- if they are coming there's 1 thing I wan't first ; the new codex ^^
