So is this simple speculation and almost wish-listing now or is there any actual rumours?

No. First you get the Incoming email, 3 months before release. Then you get the WD teaser (if any) about a week and a month before, and finally you get the pre-orders, one month before.

I've been scrabbling around looking for the reference but have given up.

There is a story about a mechanicus expedition that pokes a tomb world in to action and finds that a member of the expedition is either a necron lord or the deceiver. I really can't remember which but have been left with the impression that it was a lord as I thought it was strange that the guy was doing so much talking and I do remember something about his death mask....

The point? I'm fairly sure that there is fluff enough that points to a handful of lords being in some control of their faculties although they are hate filled monsters driven insane by their 60 million years of killing and sleeping. So necrons with some personality wouldn't be too out of the question, although I do agree that too much personality would ruin their malice filled, cold killer 'feel'.


As for what might be on the horizon for the new dex: I think the harvester from the soul drinkers novels could be on the cards considering how closely some elements of its description match the tomb stalker (Sharpened armour plates, bladed limbs, insect-like appearence, the weird turbine for an ass thing), the harvester is just big enough for a couple of SM to party around inside.

I agree that the chariot thing needs to be done properly and I would really hate an potential 'revamp' of the models to make them look like tomb kings in space. And a giant necron walker? are we talking the harvesters from the terminator movies here? And will the flier be the hunter killer? Me no likey.

I prefer the suggestion of a revamped spyder with a bigger model and some new weapon choices (The Gauss blaster is a joke).


I've just bought up a couple of lots of OOP necrons and some current destroyers for a destroyer wing based list. Sods law dictates that the way I've now directed my lists will be made obsolete witht he new dex. They have to do something about the warriors being so pitiful though so all us cron players with 40+ necrons might only have to deal with our destroyers being turned in to floating cannon fodder.

If Necrons get half the cool new plastic kits that are rumored for them it should be an exciting revision for a model range that has had little attention in its now long history.

the only army id condone plastic kits BEFORE a new codex would be sisters. i seriously dont want to build an all metal army ever again! i tried with my csm, 80% metal /wrist.

Of course, metal is out and resin is in, and resin is pretty much plastic, except for the air bubbles and smears. Apart from that, though! Oh, and it's more expensive... Still, better than metal.

yea, that it is. iv never had this happen with resin but with metal, sometimes my glue wont dry. its usually on those little awkward bits that you cant really set up to stand over night w/o getting glue on everything.

I hear you on that. Friend of mine was trying to stick the wing of a Bloodthirster on, in the end he gave up, the routine of "glue, hold, wait half an hour, place model down, wing falls off, scrape out glue" got a tad too repetitive after the second week.

the way i see it: i want necrons so my friend can stop using his damn ig. it gets old fast. i want sisters so i can build the army i really want to play w/o suffering through the pure metal army again.

im betting the heavy destroyer will be plastic and set up in a destroy box w/ the option to build either. just a thought i had based on the gk boxes.

That seems so try at the moment and I can see why in many ways, the surprise effect is often fun but I really do wish I could just know instead! Also I think someone mentioned that GW said before that each Necron update would give off the 'awakening of the race escalation' and I agree I remember that too. Fluff wise you got to bear in mind these guys were the most advanced technologically 'back in the day' to compete with the old ones biological and warp space capabilities so more vehicles I can understand has their tomb worlds start working more towards their best. I also thought the cryptek's were not pariahs but necrons whom were made to wake up the tomb worlds but I could be wrong here.

I reach a very different conclusion when I see these threads, one that has almost nothing to do with GW and everything to do the nature of many forum users.

Last I checked the battleforce was ~$70 on amazon, I think I'm gonna pick it up simply because I'd rather at least have a larger necron army and if I have to buy more of the new models then so be it. Destroyers and warriors will be there so I might as well stock up.

Also, the blood angels battle force is a fail simply because if your fielding tacticals and not las/plas razorbacks in your army your doing it wrong.

I meant the contradictory rumours coming from reliable external sources, but this is the first rumour thread I've followed so maybe it's normal

Ok, was chattgin to the manager at my local GW yesterday.

He wouldn't confirm the release date, obviously (arse).

I was telling him about the different rumours on here. He stated that there is at least 1 brand new unit (didn't say if it was infantry or vehicle though) that he has seen a model for, and also said that the details on the new models make them look "as good as, if not better than than the DE models"

He also flat out denied that there would be different coloured rods in the kits, saying it would not be cost effective to produce so many for each kit.

Also said that Scarabs as Troops was very unlikely.

He agreed that a kit of 3 Destroyers with options makes more sense than boxing them up individually......but that's nto a confirmation or a denial so.........


Now obviously this could all be complete rubbish, but thought i would post it anyway as it could be news or a rumour.

He also keeps pointing me to the BoLS forums so maybe more GW staff post on there?

So one thing I have been wondering. Why does everyone keep quoting people who work at the games stores? Do they really have that much inside information?

o hell yea man. didnt you know that if you work for a company you have to know everything they are doing!?

For me, apart from here, the staff at GW are my only source of info. Like i said, it's all utter crud as GW apparently tell their staff about as much as they tell us, but i thought i woudl post it just in case.
