With the fancier breastplates, you could always drybrush them lightly with a brass or similar? Or simply a lighter silver to make them pop?

Thank......I’m going with G for short, hope you don’t mind as my spell check just came up with unusual replacements .

The latest pic doesn’t have good lighting, the metals are much brighter, but I will highlight with some silver and all the metals will get hit with Stormhost Silver on top as well to accentuate the sparkle .

ahah, usually just Gwyn works, but whatever's easiest, not like it's my real name so *shrug*.

Yeah with the highlights than the details on the armour shouldn't go unnoticed/wasted.

@Gwyn, here’s a better, more recent photo, under the light. Hopefully it shows off the armor details some more. Still plenty of work to do on these guys, but enough for a casual game if I get the chance today

Also started on my Skaven. This is the model that has inspired me to even get into the game. Skritch Spiteclaw, leader of his swarm. I decided to do a different color scheme than the box art. This is just the basecoat and a wash, still far to go with this.

Edit: Well 2 hours of painting done and all 5 bases for the warband are in good shape, everyone has their basic skin tone and the lurking skaven is done up to a basecoat and a wash all over.

Lots of fun painting these guys up. On the lurking skaven she base there is a small rat burrowing up between the stones. I thought it was only a dislodged brick and dirt, but it adds so much to the base.

Your Skaven are looking good so far.

Yeah, the Shadspire bases are great, they really put my normal basing efforts to shame.
Although the skull-stuffed logs on the Godsworn Hunt bases are a bit much.

Just goes to prove that skulls do grow on trees

Thanks aka-chan

Edit: Krrk the Almost-trusted joins the warband. Seriously, that’s the figures name . He’s second in command to Skritch Spiteclaw who is my warband General, which I gues makes him Captain Krrk , so I gave him a red shirt keeping with the theme . He also has two small rats on his shoulder, because Skaven

Just two more to go, the hungering skaven and the festering skaven. Hoping to get them done today .

Edit2: well the festering skaven didn’t take long. These are still just base coats and washes, but good enough for tabletop in my opinion.

Edit3: enter the hungering, last of Skritch Spiteclaws swarm.

Had lots of fun speed painting these guys to a tabletop level. More details will get added later.

Thanks for looking in

Thanks Syro_,I am pleased with the basecoat so far, now to get a game or two in with them.

No pics , lack of sleep may have gotten me productive in assembling three more teams for Warhammer Underworlds, but it made me forget to take pictures. Besides who wants to see naked fire dwarves really? Hopefully will prime these guys today or tomorrow and get to painting them soon.

Edit: forgot to take pics of newly assembled, but really I’m not sure that’s necessary unless someone wants to see all the plastic colors GW can do now. I did a couple more hours of painting on the Skaven, I’m really happy with how they are looking right now.

Down shot of the bases to see the little rats going for a swim in the green nasty water and the brown skaven chocolates left on the stones.

Not showing up for some reason , but the runes on the helmet crest glow green.

Bases labeled for ease of tracking.

Decided the stormcast crew didn’t have enough color to them, so did more red on the vestments.

I have about an hour so I think I’ll start on some of the Reavers, at least some skin tones.

Thanks Shasho, just hope I can keep up the factions to these guys standards, some are less than exciting to me.

Well clean rats are just awesome, look at Stewart Little for instance. And the rat from ratatouille, he was a neat little fuzz ball.

Thanks Argive, and welcome to the merry little show of insanity I can my blog.

Tight on time this week and next with setting up two weddings and the end of school year for my kids and my wife. Only got to throw a single base layer on the reavers skin yesterday, might get a quick wash on them before I head to work myself.

Targor, first of Garrek’s Reavers to be worked on, still WIP, but getting there.

Base still needs lots of work, hair and browns are just started. Think I over did the skin.....might revisit that later, but good for now.

Started on Blooded Saek, another of Garreks reavers.

Not really excited about him, but still very WIP with lots of layers to go. The first layer of his old GW dark flesh came out red, I guess I didn’t shake it enough, so this I saw the second coat applied and starting to get there.

Blimey, you are really motoring through the Shadespire miniatures. It is really good to have a faction done in 4-7 odd models. The Skaven are my favourites, a classic colour choice and they look great.

Thanks, trying to branch out after years of only fully encased space marines with no skin to show or aliens where their skin is just colorful .

Thanks LTM, I’m really enjoying the small bands which let me get a taste of something different while still accomplishing a whole faction.

Garrek Gorebeard joins the Frey.

While not done-done, he is done. Still needs basing and maybe a couple touches here and there I’m overall satisfied.

On to Karsus the chained who seams to be the mob killer in the group. His axe on the chain lets him attack two hexes away and he gets lots of dice in his attempt. After him will be Arnulf with his shoulder spikes.

Thanks for stopping in guys

Thanks CB, GW is really knocking out some great models with the Warhammer Underworlds gangs, I think the Skaven are easily the best.

Not much time today even with the holiday here, but I did get Karsus the Chained done, sans base.

Hopefully Wednesday I’ll get Arnulf completed, might do a little on him yet tonight.

Thanks DR. H, they are friendly little chaps who like to cut to the heart of any situation, it’s how they get a head in life .

Arnulf is done, though I’m tempted by his helmet to paint Magneto’s M on it

So except for the bases these boys are done, feels wrong to not put Blood for the Blood God on the models though, so maybe a little more work down the line.

I have three more Warbands primed and ready. Fjul’s Chosen Axes, Thorns of the Briar Queen and the othe Stormcast squad from the Shadespire set.

I think naked Dwarf guys are next up.

Oh, and I have Magore’s Fiends on order already, should arrive Friday, unfortunately I’ll be at work when it gets to the FLGS. I need to pick up a couple paints to do the Briar Queen and her crew, but also looking at what the next warband purchase should be. If anyone has suggestions I’m all ears.

Paint M for Murder .

Well, about to leave for work today, will stop by the FLGS in hopes they’d got my figs in and possibly some paints as well. I did get a start on my hairy naked Dwarf babies.

Painting their tiny loincloths has me thinking of buying some static grass and applying it under the loincloths for added humor. It would be a sure thing if I could find some orange tufts . There’s some questionable sculpting under there .
