Until yesterday, I was the same - not planning to start any new projects for now, and wanting a larger range before starting a new project later. However, while shopping for some paints I noticed the webstore (Miniaturicum) sold separate sprues of the spiders, so I couldn't resist throwing one of those in the basket. Always good to have some little (and some not so little) critters on the table. Time to start searching for some wacky real-life spider colour schemes online...

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units." Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?" Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?" GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!" Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.
Allright, so according to the latest newsletter, one of the next projects is goth warriors!
Nice, but what will it be?
Generic Goths? Visigoth? Cybergoth? Batcave? Deathrock? Neofolkists? Or some stompy EBMs?

Automatically Appended Next Post: I mean I might be mistaken but they look like they have caligla and are rocking the historically accurate socks and sandals look! (either that or the rendering on the feet is only rough for now)

The number of preorders might factor into their decisions when it comes to where Sci fi kits fit into the order of releases and whether or not they make more alien types?
preordering lets me spend the money now while I have it free,
if I wait until they hit the shops I might have spent it on something else (and since I passed the free shipping threshold price is comparable with the online discounters anyway as over here they don't generally offer It)

Plastics have a high minimum order for manufacturers and, if made overseas, transit time as well.
The advantage of preordering (besides any deals on offer) is you know you'll get yours. If they sell out it may be months until they are back in stock.
The disadvantage, as you said, if you're buying sight unseen and before more review are in.
@Lord Marcus: any info on the british soldier that is shown alot together with the Lizardmen?
Is it Indian Mutiny?
As he is completed and painted, it seems that project is rather advanced?

Thanks! Every time I see German prices I am reminded that there's nothing unique about GW's faux exchange rate.
What?
Having a quick look at the Fantasy range, Wargames Atlantic sells their sets for $34.95, which at the current exchange rate is €28.90 according to xe.com/ucc.
Miniaturicum sells those sets for €25.30-€26.95. An approx. 10% off is similar to what Miniaturicum offers on (some?) GW products.
So the prices seem to be bang on, and the variation in prices appears to indicate they've fluctuated with the changing exchange rates at the times those sets were released or purchased or so.
In short, prices seem to be bang on looking at the exchange rates. So, very much unlike GW.
