KT: Shadowhunt and the previous two teams going on preorder next saturday:

I have to say, That Night Lords Murderwing is the first 40K CSM non-character based unit that I like the look of. They kept the draping cloth to a minimum, and I feel it helps the sculpts. These could become kitbash fodder for my upcoming RoC Renegades..

Is this the box that's supposed to have KT rules for the Nightbringer?

On one hand, no terrain in the box means cost will be less. On the other hand, no terrain.

So, uh, a new game mat?

yeah, just a new game mat. They assume you bought into the season already, so you'd have the required terrain.

I dont see any reason why one couldn't "proxy" the mission maps using Gallowdark terrain and regular open map terrain, if you dont have the Necron tomb terrain etc.

And heresy to say so, but some people don't like tomb terrain at all. It's just you can't fit it anywhere outside necrons cause it's obviously too necronish. New mat is a better then buy another not needed tomb world

The Raptors really look great. The possessed one is a bit janky, but I love spear/chainaxe/chainsword guys.

Strange to think I got 20 of the old raptors when -they- were new, and their designs still feel fresh even if their scale is outdated. How far we've come.

Nope, not heresy at all. I skipped this KT season exactly because of this reason. I've never liked Necrons personally, if it was up to me, the whole faction would be all Canopteks and C'tans, leave that Egyptian ish to SG-1 and TSons, thankyouvermuch. Just an opinion in a sea of other opinions,,

Not heresy but definitely a minority, I think the tomb terrain is very delicious. The Sisters KT looks pretty great.

They look so much like they're wearing headphones that I may have to use some of those heads to make Noise Marine Cultists.

Your Imperial bias is showing. Imperial terrain is not neutral and doesn’t fit for my xenos vs xenos battles. Of course, there are fine narrative reasons one can come up with as to why non-necron forces would be battling over necron tech. One need look no further than the Dead Silence dossier.

If GW terrain prices were in any way sensible I'd get the Necron terrain just because of the cool looks. Having some nice tomb Dungeon to quest in would be pretty cool.

Yes and no, I'm obviously imperial biased, but don't like most of GW terrain at all. Cause I don't catch why we always fights over some ruins. I do like tomb world for being not imperial ruins and I don't cause it's again broken and ruined. Even gallowdark less worn and broken.

Article about fighting the Nightbringer.
Basically, you can’t kill it, so run!

If you incapacitate C'tan on TP2, there's a high chance it wont re-animate until TP5 (which is already after the game has ended), so while technically you cannot kill it, in practical game terms its certainly possible to get rid of it

I am not that up to date on KT, but doesn't it say d3+1 activations, not turning points?

Meaning it returns early in the next TP, since it counts down after strategy phase.

Yeah, that. Also remember that both sides get activations, so it’s going to be after you move your second operative at best.

I assume you would want to pile damage onto him but not finish him off until early in the next TP. That way you can have him spend that whole TP dead.

Worst case, you finish him off at the end of a TP, and he gets up near immediately.

Here comes my review of Kill Team: Shadowhunt, with high-res sprue images and a list of all build options for both the Celestian Insidiants and Murderwing, a 4K unboxing video of all components, and a look into the new Descent Killzone mission packs.

Unfortunately, there seems to be only very limited stock for independent retailers, so I expect this to sell out fast. So read quickly please: https://taleofpainters.com/2026/01/review-kill-team-shadowhunt/

How long does it take for the teams to be split out into individual boxes? I feel a Sisters of Sigmar warband coming, but I don't really have a use for anything else in the box.

Usually when the next big box is released (the two teams from the last box are available individually today, for example). So a few months.

Welp, sold out pretty fast again this time round. I wasn't about to buy it anyway, was just surprised to see it sell out that quickly. Guessing GW doesnt really make large runs of any KT boxes besides the season launch box ones

For Sisters of Sigmar I'd recommend the novitiates, definitely less sci-fi gubbins to be removed than the full sisters. In fct, I converted the other way around, making some SoS into Novitiates...
