Well, I just placed an order with Forgeworld for Tempest and a few other things. Also ordered 3 pots of the Phoenician Purple for my EC. Haven't yet found that purple paint that was "just right" for me, so maybe this will be the one. I've only basecoated my EC so far, with the Minitaire Echymose purple, so I'll see if the FW purple will do the job.

Hexed Lichen from Vallejo is just right for me, although I use the VGC through my AB as I've found the VMA colour to be too translucent and, preferring a black undercoat most of the time, it was near impossible to see where the paint was going.

I sincerely hope Phoenician Purple isn't just Xerus Purple with extra thinners, but suspect that might be exactly what it is.

I didn't try the Xerus Purple, since I don't buy GW paint anymore, but I did try Reaper's two different purple triads, and neither was exactly what I wanted. Their "clear purple" is very close to what I have in mind, but being one of their clear paints, I don't think it will come out exactly the way I want it. Most of the purples I've looked at either have too much blue in them, or too much red in them. The Phoenician looks like it might be just right, assuming it matches what I see on my screen. The hard part is trying to find the exact purple I want. It's one of those "I'll know it when I see it" kind of things.

Well, just for the purposes of information sharing, here's the VGC Hexed Lichen, the Citadel Xereus Purple and a thing what I done painted.

Paintjob is amazing but still not liking the sculpt itself. I've only just noticed how far back he's leaning too. Meh model, excellent paintjob.

Azrael, do you have a whole heresy force? That Sicaran is awesome.

Thanks!

No, I'm actually working on a 40K CSM force, but because I have to be a special snowflake I'm modelling it as a late Scouring era Emperor's Children force. Consequently it gives me a thematic reason to include the Sicaran, plus the Fire Raptor I've currently got mostly built on the desk and a few other choice bits from IA13. I've also pegged them as not too corrupted yet, so I'm dialling back the "we's evil cos spikes" theme GW use and just throwing in hints of Chaos here and there. Plus I like the Legion colour scheme!

Not yet. I will probably upload some pics to P+M once I'm done, but right now I have the Sicaran and a Maulerfiend done, plus some Kakophoni/Noise Marines, Hi Tech counts as Obliterators, a Heldrake and one Marine in various stages of paint or basing, plus aforementioned Raptor in nekkid resin built, but awaiting chaosification.

Which is a long winded way of saying I've got a lot in progress but not much finished!

I could try, but what would actually happen is I'd post a bunch of pics, then forget all about it forever!

But, as I'm flattered you guys seem to like my modest efforts, here is the Maulerfiend, albeit under very oddly coloured LED light..

That'll have to be it though, as we're veering rather far from FW news.

because of the bottles being used, it means the new fw paints are being made by coat d' arms. They also make the p3 paints in the same bottles.

they specialize in liquid pigment paints, witch is why they are supossibly the best for airbrushing. vallajo uses soild pigments but are more finely ground then most others ranges to make them better for air brushing.

Coat d' arms is known for CC problems In the past. P3 black paint that wouldn't even stick to the inside of the pot was well known in some gaming shops who got whole batches of defective paint.

That really shows how he is the opposite of Horus to me, they should have put the models facing each other. It is sort of like a Roman General vs a Barbarian Warlord. Would be very cool to have the two squaring off against each other with their armies.

They also posted a pic of the Khorne demon engine. I wonder if you'll have to fork out the £95 for the whole plastic kit first & have over 50% of the model thrown in your bits box....

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/News/FORGE_WORLD_BULLETIN_61.html

The Warhammer World Grand Opening was a great opportunity for the designers, artists and writers from the Forge World Studio to chat about what they’ve been working on recently with those of you who were lucky enough to get a ticket.

The Forge World Studio team spent all weekend talking to hobbyists.

If you didn't make it to the Grand Opening your next chance to meet the Forge World team is at the Forge World Open Day on Sunday 5th July, get your ticket now! Many of the designers also brought with them models that are being worked on as I type this - some almost ready for production and others still in the early stages of design. Here are two I can't wait to see on sale at the new Forge World store in Warhammer World.

Sigismund, First Captain of the Imperial Fists - rumour is that's he's pretty close to being released.

A new Daemon Engine this way walks!

Also on show for the first time at the event were the displays in the new exhibition halls. With thousands of models in the dioramas and cabinets, there was no way I could do them justice in a single bulletin. So, here's a few more of my favourites to whet your appetite should you be planning a visit to Warhammer World soon...

Just a few of the many models on display.

That’s all from me for now. Make sure you check back soon for more from the Forge World Studio.

Chris.

Well, basically a turretless Khorne Baneblade isn't the worst thing to have in your bitzbox... Could be an excellent conversion base for a Khorne Tower of Skulls.

If it is like the Tau y'vahra, they'll include only the riptide sprue that you need and not the other one. I don't know if the khornemower is split up that convientently with the unneeded bits on one sprue though as I've never seen one in person let alone assembled it.

Or just a really nice-looking skullcannon. That thing offered by GW looks like a motorcycle hitting a hog mid-collision. May have worked for Tzeench or mb slaanesh, but for Khorne i want to have something with mass behind it, something with skulls, armor plates, spikes and menace to it, not a wimpy frame with what looks like a better maschine gun on top.

Isn't the tracked section from a Lord of Skulls a little large to make a skullcannon from? Could use some of the pieces to beef up the GW kit significantly though.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
On another note, that larger crane in the picture above looks like it is based on part of the old Amphelion kits, and one of the other display boards has the old Imperial Trenchlines in it. Oh how FW like to tease us

The skullcannon is staying behind your troops so any advantage by blocking sight on troops behind it is non-existant after the first movement phase. The fact that it's larger makes it easier to hit, so any rules lawyers who have a problem with this can go eat old plastic sprue. With all the Knights, Baneblades and flyers zooming around, a slightly bigger skullcannon shouldn't be a problem. And besides, rule of cool.

If FW were smart they'd make another Khornate daemon engine that uses the other half of the kit (like a Khorne Great Cannon, or something like that).
