Spartan 2.0 is a nothingburger, who's buying more Spartans to get new sponsons? Put the sponson sprue on direct order.

Rapiers are pretty great. I hope Ogryn can all be built with the helmet closed, the suit's seal being superglued to their skin all around the face looks really weird, like the face is just painted onto the body sack.

I'm kind of surprised - shouldn't a tank called "Prometheus" have something to do with flamers?

The Land Raider Prometheus was a FW kit for a command tank with twin quad heavy bolters.

Yep, that just about sums it up. The Rapiers are so cool I wish I collected SA, but I simply don't have the space for more boxes of plastic.

Of course plastic Rapiers just as I start painting my resin ones.

I should start painting my Veletaris Flamer Squad.

I was wondering about that. This could be a prelude to the HH re-envisioning older FW models into the Heresy setting - Land Raider promtheus, Achilles, MkIIb, Helios, etc.

I would love an Achilles...

It's just a Spartan with the laser destroyer sponsons thrown in, and heavy bolters happen to be on the same sprue. Wouldn't read too much into it.

It's more the callout at the end for the Prometheus Command Tank (Original Land Raider prometheus was used as a command transport). Probably nothing, but there's always a little hope

Hopefully there’ll be some gubbins to make it look ‘commander-ish’.

If I played Solar Auxilia that would be different. But I don’t. And thanks to existing Spartans and Fellblade? I can do a Prometheus right now. Two when I get a Glaive.

From the end of the blurb about the Battle of Tallarn journal, "Updated rules for the new Rapiers and Charonite Ogryns (and for the Command Tank version of the Spartan Prometheus) will be available in the upcoming supplement Journal Tactica: The Battle Of Tallarn – Part 1, which focuses on one of the biggest battles of the Horus Heresy."

So the command tank variant is absolutely coming.

If they hadn't added the Mole Mortar to the Rapiers, it would have been just a couple of the direct fire Rapiers and Ogryn.

Well, the alt Spartan was not expected, but also is unspectacular to match.

I won't say meh, because this is a good release. I will simply nod approvingly and move on.

Though, the quad Heavy Bolter and/or Quad Multilaser Go-Karts could be transposed to Necromunda as an Enforcer unit.

In fact, rules wise? Albeit house rules? Soon as they rumble onto the field (including the first turn), the opposing Gang would be taking Bottle Tests. Because there is a difference between bravery and gross stupidity.

I probably only want one unit of Ogryns as then never really appealed to me for solar aux but having the option would be nice. Rapiers though, I'm thinking enough for a battery of 2 of each gun?

Hopefully once the Glaive is released and the Falchion and Whirlwind get closer that they will randomly drop the SA Baneblade reveal. Falchions need something to shoot at besides each other.

Sorry, I have to ask, I know that HH Battle of Tallarn was a massive tank battle, but is there any hope of getting Desert Raider infantry out of it?

Not likely. They'll probably change any instances of the desert raiders being involved to be some similarly named Solar Aux regiment.

That new Spartan is missing the radar dish from the Damocles command rhino, Also better have the tracking skimmers rules from the Prometheus Landraider

So long as I get some grimdark gothic arab warriors I'll be happy but IIRC it was the battle of Tallarn that turned it into a desert so... unlikely?

What I like about the new Auxilia additions is the fact that Auxilia Tarantulas aren't probably far off now. I need those in plastic for my IXth, since the FW resin tarantulas also looked like that, not a fan of the current plastic Astartes tarantulas

Yeah, Tallarn during the battle is a radioactive hell-marsh of slightly singed protoplasmic goo left over from the lifeater virus.

Unfortunately, between the nuking being so recent that infantry played very little part in most of the battle (hence why there were so many tanks) and the Tallarns most likely taking some time to develop into the modern desert raider form we know them as ten thousand years later, I would not count on anything of the sort.

Exactly. Also, the toxic surface and the cramped underground complexes are the exact environments Solar Auxilia were designed for fighting in.

Toxic surface, largest tank battle. Hope part 2 gives solar aux superheavies, aurox carnodons, and astartes destroyer squads.
