Also saw knights of sidonia show up on netflix today.. may have to give it a shot as I watched the first season. Automatically Appended Next Post: Wait a minute... was the first season of this show so guano-insane? Tiny man/cyborg decapitating people and Sidonian Brain Nematodes? Gah, and I thoguht the earwig from Wrath of Khan was creepy stuff... In regards to Madoka Magica, there's the 13 episodes of the anime, Madoka Magica The Movie: Part 1 Beginnings, Madoka Magica The Movie: Part 2 Eternal, and Madoka Magica The Movie: Rebellion. The first two films are caps of the show with some improvements in animation and some changes in voice acting. The third movie is all new stuff.

DarkLink wrote:Expelled from Paradise popped up on netflix, looked interesting so I watched it. Pretty good movie. It's kind of ghost in the shell meets trigun.
I know a guy who was an advisor for the writers for Expelled from Paradise.
It contained a lot of themes popular in Transhumanist Circles.
And among them something I hope to work on in grad school (a synthetic biological solution for the bio-silicon interface - according to Dr. Ted Berger at USC, this is THE problem that is in the way of a complete interface between brain and computer. He has already developed a working prosthetic Hippocampus, and has said that the work of putting together pretty much ANY other cybernetic brain component is trivial compared to the job/work of figuring out how to interface that component without Nuero-sclerosis - Ghost-in-the-Shell: Stand Alone Complex: The Launghing Man arc wasn't joking when they talked about Cyber-Sclerosis. Turns out: It's a real thing). But, that is essentially what I want to do in Grad School, and apply the interface to a prosthetic Gut, to eliminate our need to eat constantly to keep us alive, but not take our affective experiences with it (the gut is where we "feel" 90% or more of our emotions. If you feel something, it is your Enteric Nervous System talking to your brain). But, to do that, I need the same solution that Ted Berger needs for his brain prosthetics (I keep asking him when he is just going to start calling it a "Cyberbrain").
But Expelled from Paradise was really well done.
I hope they make a prequel that goes into the "Nanocaust" in more depth.
There was one flaw with it, though.
That far in the future, they would not be having memory problems. Memory would be trivially easy to make from components found in space, and with nano-scaled components, we could get enough memory to simulate a huge chunk of near-space to the atomic level (roughly a sphere, centered on the Sun, roughly 20LY in radius), with just a single asteroid (since they don't need to support physical bodies)
Given the ability to do that, they would not be having to threaten to box people up. And if they gobbled up every small-scale silicate-metallic asteroid in the inner solar system, they could build enough memory for a galactic scale simulation. Cooling it, at that point, might be a bigger issue. And shielding it from cosmic rays, and micro-meteors, which could have the same effects as a comet strike here on earth with components of that scale (maybe they would just bet on the components being destroyed being "uninhabited" memory).

I am so happy Gate is even better than what I was expecting! Loving the main character
I honestly can't wait to see tanks wrecking the fantasy beasties. Teaches them to mess with our DAKKA DAKKA.
And in all honesty it feels so damn good to see proper military forces for once doing what they should be doing instead of being the nameless red-shirt guys being killed in droves and rescued by the high-schooler with magical powers \o/

Well you noticed where the Kunato dude poked the scientist with a little barb from his finger and she also went all paralyzed... maybe the tiny cyborg was *somehow* the true brain/body of that scientist guy and he's just up in the Kunato dude's brain driving him like a mech?
I dunno, the show is really Bizarre but I'm over halfway done too and the giant robot space battles are enough to keep me around for the moment.

He does not. You know what season 3 needs? Moar Tiny Murderbot. 100% more. Actually that would only mean you'd see him for like 6 seconds... exponentially more Tiny Murderbot. Also... an opportunity to use those little swords they gave a couple of the pilots.. I mean there was a golden opportunity and it never came up. Still a neat show. MC still rolls about with his (increasingly creepy) harem and wonton Mary Sueism, but the fights are rather fun to watch and even Tsumugi grows on you after awhile. The Party Time Mecha Satellite of Doom(tm) was kind of neat too.

I'm not sure if sarcastic... But I think they tend to just show whatever is airing on Japanese TV. I know that Jojo part 3 had weird censoring with smoking and some of the gory parts, Triage X had lots of that kind of censoring with graphic content and "plot". And then testament of sister new devil might as well have just been Censoring: the Anime, more than half of that show was censored.
I'm really surprised My wife is the Student Council President has an uncensored version. On the flip side, "Shimoneta: A boring world where the concept of dirty jokes doesn't exist" gets like 90% of its laughs from the fact it's censored.

No, I honestly didn't know. Probably won't keep it then. Not to mention I got an email saying they're not going to support my Smart TV after the 15th so Crunchyroll is on the ropes for me. CMX manga was bad about censoring, and iirc that was a big part of why they went under.
On the plus side, the reprinting of Tenjho Tenge makes a whole lot more sense now.

I am now going to invest in the Manga, to see if Tiny Robot gets mentioned again.
It HAS to do with something to with with Dr. Ochiai's work (There are hints thrown around, which my Manga/Anime-senses are telling me he was toying with trying to transfer consciousnesses into computers). We see already with the transference of his computerized personality back into his cloned body (why they would tie up a harmless clone is beyond me).
But we know that Nagate is the clone of another character. And that several people fear him as a result.
I have discovered that Netflix IS one of the producers of the show, and that they are backing it for at least another few seasons.
I have also discovered that the author of the Manga is still producing the story (it's still going on).
So. . . . this might be a (THE) long-running Sci-Fi anime that I have been waiting for. It would be nicer to see the seasons produced faster than once a year, but CGI can take a long time to produce.
Also, several Japanese companies have backed Sidonia no Kishi as being THE Anime to bring cool back to Japanese Anime (I think they are just jealous of Shingeki no Kyou-jin, which already DID bring the "cool" back to Anime in a freaking BIG WAY - so much so it is getting a live-action series that is supposed to run the entire length of the manga, to completion. . . Which will give us around five to ten years of very cool Anime Inspired TV).
MB Automatically Appended Next Post: What was the freakish weird Cockroaches on Mars Anime?
It was a brilliant concept, but it suffered from being basically ONE FIGHT, and leaving absolutely every question unanswered.
It also suffered from the horrible over-pronounced low-end explosions that they also have in Knights of Sidonia, where it sounds like they slam two two-by-fours together so hard that they explode.
The explosion noises in KoS are just ridiculously over-produced, sound-wise... Same with the cockroaches on Mars.
TerraFormars. Which is an interesting three-way pun:
Terraformers
Terra For Mars
Terraform-mars
I wonder if they did that on purpose?
I just had a random thought about Nichijou.
Now I need to go back and match Mio Looses it (in all her glory) again.
Mio likes Yaoi. . . I wonder what sort of young-adult Mio would turn into?

I feel you, mate.
It's like the world was nothing but sunshine, rainbows and puppies for 23mns. From the start to the end I had the same idiot grin on my face as I had in Season 1 and I couldn't help but truly smile with the school song. Everything is so pure, innocent, relaxing and beautiful! I can't believe it, but I think they made the scenery even more beautiful this time.
It's a therapy for the soul, this is no doubt the one anime I was hyped the most. For 23 mns I enjoy pure bliss.
Damn, I really missed it! Welcome back Renge-chan!
